Well it basically mean we can do our corner combos middle screen. It changes the way she plays a lot in my opinion, that's why I found it so crazy that it's there to begin with.
When before you were doing an ender into EX Hayate for corner carry, you could do the same but with 100 damage and 150 stun more each time standing strong or fierce connect. Or you could do MP > Fuakiage > RH Axe kick for an untechable knockdown.
Anyone knows where to get cheap arcade sticks? I work with people with down syndrome, and after I showed one of the guys Evo, he bought Super Street Fighter IV AE and now wants an arcade stick. It has to be cheap, but I don't want to get it for him if it's shitty. Have to be shipping to Norway.

Man I'm jelly. I live in a veritable fighting game wasteland. There's one meeting in my general area and the people attending don't like SF4, which is the only game I can actually play without a console.
you can play Guilty Gear XX #Reload. There is quite a scene for it in Europe. Also you can play on GGPO. Skullgirls is coming out on PC as well.
where to play Guilty Gear X2 Reload? Me no clue, but this game is just awesome. :/

Youtube. Channel like Yogaflame24 or XblackvegetaX post new matches from online play almost everyday. And you need to check for the vods of tournaments when you can.

Yeah - really liking this change if it's true. Makoto is just fun to play regardless. So glad I switched to her from Rose.
I'm looking at the Fukiage hitbox right now, and I don't see how you're going to hit a standing opponent with it. Even if they extend the hitbox to her feet (which would look very strange), that's probably not going to come up very often. It only has upper body invincibility too. l.
Look pretty gamechaging to me, and the guy didn't evn touch the hitboxes. Only removed the " Cannot hit standing " flag.
Hmm, I didn't even think of the combo potential, mostly because I'm not super familiar with Makoto's combos. Does it really help her convert that much?
As for beating Dhalsim's s.HP, I guess I was assuming SF was the same as ArcSys games where head invincibility means air attacks only. If she really has invincibility from standing attacks while performing Fukiage, then yeah, that's way too good.
I think previously the combo possibility was during focus attack crumple where you could use it during the 'falling' portion where they are considered airborne to combo out of it.
I think you could juggle them twice with the fukiage and then finish with a dash punch.
If the new fukiage hits standing opponents and launches you could i guess potentially carry someone full screen into a corner without ending in dash punch?
OFFTOPIC:
I hope they take the buff everyone to an acceptable level approach. I think that "vortex" characters are bound to happen, but with the changes and buffs maybe some characters won't have to work as hard for damage. Add back the parry system.
People are airborne during a crumple after they fall to their knee, so Fukiage can hit. With a Fukiage hitting grounded, you can stMP > fukiage > fukiage > EX hayate. You could bring people to the corner in one combo.
You can almost do it already with a simple stMP > EX Hayate with a few dash when they're still on the ground tho.

Improving in Street Fighter feels five times harder than Starcraft just because Shoryuken is a terrible resource for people new to fighting games. 11 of the 12 links I clicked in guides were broken, and a lot of them use abreviations I've never heard of, with no legend in sight. After a bunch of googling I found out what most of the abreviations are, but it's still difficult to find good resources.
Look for stuff on youtube mostly
SSF4 has a lot of resources in comparison to other fighting games. It seems sparse at first, but then you realize that beofre this generation, there was no way of knowing about stuff beside finding it yourself / in your local scene.
For Ibuki, a simple google search give me this
Which is like more than you can dream of for most characters in this game, yet other fighting games lol
Wow thanks so much! I never thought of using youtube. I'm just so used to Starcraft and League of Legends which basically spoonfeed you information. I'll look around more thoroughly.
* How would you guys say a newbie should begin to improve? I've played Street Fighter since SNES but I've never played it seriously or really owned a game, I've just known how to do the standard hadouken, shoryuken etc... In what order is stuff like zoning, combos, FADC etc important to learn? Any advice on what characters to use?
* How do you guys control the game with keyboard? I tried the standard setup and it works... but I'm wondering if it wouldn't be better to change the movement to WASD instead of the arrow keys (since that's the same setup as arcade sticks and controllers)... I also find the button setup on the keyboard hard in the sense that doing focus attacks breaks your fingers (because medium punch/medium kicked are placed that way).

To each his own, I'm using WASD to move, UIOP for punches, HJKL for kicks, Y grap, G focus and M taunt. I like that set-up.
Plus, if you're new to the game, I would recommend Juri or a simple Shoto character (Ryu/Ken) a chance.

Start with any character you like. There's some that have some really hard to perform moves, but everyone can be played at a basic level. There are characters that are considered more lenient because they have easy ways to land their ultra or have good reversal options, but in the end it's most important that you enjoy playing your character.
First you should learn the rules of the game and especially your character. Find out which moves can be punished on block (set a training dummy to do the move and then block. Pick Ryu and mash Shoryuken after you block the move. If it lands, the move was unsafe). Find out when you can safely jump without eating an uppercut (hint: barely ever). Don't bother with complicated combos. The basic stuff will get you very far if you learn how to use it. Learn one or two combos into ultra for when your opponent fucks up.

Juri? Seriously? Possibly the hardest character to get to a decent level, her pressure is difficult to execute and most of her buttons are very situational. She takes a lot of work. Plus, the charging would probably be hell on a keyboard.
I recommend Ryu, Guile, Cammy, Rufus, or Rose if you want a forgiving character that's easy to learn.
Balrog is pretty much the standard recommendation for new players. Starting with Ryu can actually teach you bad tendencies, like mashing out invincible reversal moves (shoryuken), having reliable anti-airs for every range, over-reliance on his above-average focus attack etc. The character you end up maining might not have some-, or any of those options available. Balrog teaches you how to play "legit", while still being a very good and competitive character.

As someone who had no prior experience with Street Fighterish fighting games before I bought the game ~3 months ago, I found Juri pretty easy to learn and play
Rose if you want a forgiving character that's easy to learn.
[/QUOTE] I don't agree with that Rose is forgiving. She's easy to learn, yes, but she if someone requires practice to get good at.

She's not Gen or Viper level difficulty, but she isn't even close to one of the easier characters to play either. I think what matters most is that new players play whichever character or style they find the most interesting. Even if it's a character deemed underpowered or overly complex. What matters most is having fun and also wanting to put the work into learning all the combos or ins and outs of your chosen main.

Amen to that. I personally, I really enjoy to play Juri, and I don't care what others say, I found her pretty easy to learn and I'm gonna stick with her even if Capcom nerfs her into oblivion, because she just fits me (That sad, I also run Rose and Evil Ryu sometimes). And even if I'm bad at the match-up Juri-Ken, that is probably one of the most fun things to play IMO.

I wouldn't count on them nerfing Juri lol. She arguably has a lot of hidden potential IMO, but not enough to warrant nerfs, especially with so few people playing her. I love the character. If I ever have the urge to get back into this game more often, I'd like to focus on learning her. I've fooled around a bit but no serious matchups or anything.
