man. i've ggpo'd on keyboard while my TE was being used. i must have spent the first half hr trying to DP with iori, and another hr just trying to command grab with goro.
whats more crazy to me is that msot of the good pad players i've witnessed/played in person use analog (besides inthul). wolfkrone was fff'ing and siesmo chaining me like it was cake on that fucking d-pad O_o. (but i'm a pad warrior for mk9. game feels so wierd on stick, and i get caught by negative edging way worst on stick for some reason in that game)
edit: actually sf4 is prolly decent on keyboard now that i think about it dbl edit: and i be ume-shoryu'ing ppl in pocket fighter on keyboard. just ask ginseng

Its the same thing as a hitbox, the inputs are nearly instant, tbh if I didn't feel cheesy playing on keyboard I'd play it more, but I like going to arcades once in a while so I'm trying to get better on stick, but keyboard inputs are instant, clean, and VERY VERY fast.

And yeah, keyboard feels cleaner. It's even easier to grapple once you get used to it with a quick asdw (never have jumped while doing an spd on a keyboard, whether it be mvc1 or sf4)

I think one fix to playing a grappler with a keyboard would be, like playing on a hitbox, using asd and spacebar for jump instead of w, or arrow keys. That said I don't play grapplers so its not an issue for me haha
Also, what games are on GGPO? I've love to screw around on pocket fighter/gem fighter lol I had no clue it was on ggpo.

Why would you want the key assignments to be W A S D though? The hitbox style of like Q W E Space or whatever it is seems superior because you can just roll your hand along the keyboard.

It's a personal preference from my fps days, and I don't have an issue with the wasd configuration anyways

So does anyone know where to get GGPO games, or an emulator/rom for pocket fighter? ;o
|
Was messing around on thirdstrike GGPO with a keyboard. I have to say that i can see the appeal of using keyboards as opposed to pad cause you get a cool piano-esque groove going on.
Used WASD for movement and IOP for punches and KL; for kicks.
My one complaint was that 'ghosting' was an issue with my keyboard. (when you hit multiple keys together they don't register.
Also NO NEGATIVE EDGE MAKES ME SAD!!!!

I have a standard Dell keyboard and it doesn't have ghosting problems so I wouldn't have imagined it was a big problem, plus you can macro up multiple keys to one key.

PS: Is Sakura the Best, Worst character, or the Worst....Best character? :O
she's basically the top of mid tier. it's kinda like this:
A+: Yun Yang Fei, baby A: the other high tier characters numbering probably 7 or 8 B+: Sakura! B: the other mid tier characters

Thats pretty well how I see it as well, I'd put Fei at the top of non twins
A: Twins A-: Fei Gief Makoto Oni (online) B+: Sakura Ken Rog Oni (offline)blah blah

Damn I was catching LO3, who was rocking the TL shirt? Did anyone catch his screenname? I'll catch the VODs after the show.

It's a hassle to cancel it though (Steam Support was quite curt in their reply, first saying that they would only refund this one time as a customer courtesy, but you can get pre-orders refunded (it's in their policy as an exception!)) and the fuckers refunded my money as Steam Wallet credit...I just wanted my 9 euro difference back, you fuckers!
Also pretty bad that they don't even inform people about this or compensate early buyers for the difference!
I got my Steam pre-order refunded, the email say they will never offer a refund again though. That's a ridiculous policy imo. The semi-automated customer service response seemingly didn't read my message that explained I only wanted the price difference returned, and that I'd re-order the game if it was only possible to refund the entire transaction. And yeah, changing the price of pre-orders without automatically refunding your customers is pretty fucked up, but oh well, happy to get it at a lower price than expected. I seldom buy Steam games outside of sales, but I hope stuff like this gets more publicized because they basically dominate the market atm.
Edit: Won't let me re-order, lol. Might have to contact my bank.

C.Viper is definitely better than Makoto, Gief etc, probably at fourth, maybe fifth position.

Seth>Yun
What, Poongko not good enough?

Viper is a vortex character, she'll never be top tier it just relies on knockdowns, similar to ibuki. IMO

just a question, why is akuma seen as pretty top tier(top b maybe a) and is extremely popular? isn't he a vortex character?
|
Because Akuma has other options than relying only on a knockdown and cross ups and mixups afterwards, like Viper and Ibuki. Akuma is still a shoto in the end so he has a range game, short game, and sick combos.

lol no. Akuma has the fastest walk speed in the game along with an incredible sweep. His s.hk helps make a lot of matchups difficult for Ryu more manageable for Akuma. His red fireball and air fireballs make his zoning very good combined with the constant threat of a demonflip to close the distance. This is never mentioned, but his DP can be canceled EXTREMELY late (3rd hit), allowing you to FADC a blocked DP on reaction (Ryu, Evil Ryu, Ken, Holy Ken, etc. cannot).
AFTER a knockdown, yes, he can apply vortex by attacking low/high or crossup low/high at a ton of distances (along with demonflip grab). Further, a lot of his setups outright stuff DPs or can make them whiff.
However, he can be played solid and pretty much go toe to toe with any member of the cast.
Also, tier lists are garbage. It's such a stupid invention and although the game obviously isn't perfectly balanced, there is so much new shit that gets discovered every day that tier lists quickly become outdated. If there wasn't so much bitching about manner / tiers / balance and more on "finding new tech", Americans would be much stronger for it.

IMO Viper can fuck you over in so many ways and combo into ultra(which does a lot of damage) in so many ways, that's not possible with Ibuki. Seismo>kunai. And her not-so-good match-ups got better in AE, so she obviously moved up.
Also, she doesn't rely on knockdowns as much as Ibuki does and is perfectly fine without it.
