My computer recognizes that it's there "PC USB Wired Stick 8838" but I can't set any bindings in sf4. I know there's been a problem with AMD and Madcatz PS3 but is it normal for my computer to update the drivers and recognize that it's plugged in? Or is an adapter still required? I've had this issue. Hopefully the computer you're talking about is a desktop. You have to buy a PCI card with a VIA chipset. You don't need additional drivers. Read this link for more info. http://forums.shoryuken.com/discussion/56258/madcatz-ps3-te-fightstick-pc-xp-vista-win7-32-64bit-read-1st-post [edit] Whops. should have read the reply more carefully. The youtube video has the solution.

This isn't normal for me, if I do something stupid, I normally just have a quick twitch with my left eye and I'm back in my game. I'm scared that this might affect my game in a negative way because I have almost thrown away a game because of this frustration. Is this normal that your reactions change right before a tournament? For that matter, I play Rose, but a really rush down Rose. I also play Yun, but I'm too relentless for my own good with Yun, so I'm thinking of going out with Rose here. Does anyone have any tips on what to practice for before a tournament? + Show Spoiler + Well this pretty much turned out to be a blog post, sorry. I guess?

Sleep well, eat well, those are the most important things. As far as nerves and stuff I guess I don't have any advice, since I don't have those problems, but I would just recommend going into the tournament with no expectations. I have no idea how good you are compared to the other people in this tournament, but regardless, you shouldn't expect to be on stream and you shouldn't expect to win the tournament. Just go there to hang out and have fun, and incidentally play some games of Street Fighter between that.

When I played my first SSF4AE tournament (which was on a small gaming expo/conference in Sweden), I had barely touched the game at all :p But if you want a tip from me, I would say try to have fun while you play. Even if it won't go your way result wise, still try to have a fun time. I went out directly in the tournament I played, but I still had an awesome time at the expo/conference that the tournament took place in. I meet lots of new, nice people that weekend (and even one of the best SF-pros in Sweden) As for character to play, I'll say play whatever you feel comfortable with. If you like Rose (like I also do), play her. Do you like Yun, play him. Like any other character, play that character.

Does anyone have any tips on what to practice for before a tournament? + Show Spoiler + Well this pretty much turned out to be a blog post, sorry. I guess? I don't have much experience with tournaments, I only participated in 2 of them, but I think I can still give you some advices ^^. First, and I know this might sound like a loser attitude, but I tried to approach my first tournament with a very laidback style, I didn't expect a very high tournament finish. There's a couple of little reasons behind that kind of thinking: 1- Because I knew where I stood knowledge and skill wise, so my main goal going in there was experience 2- Because I always try to have a realistic mindset. I've been through a lot of different competition environment, therefore knowing the players I would face beforehand, I knew I probably would get my face stomped. Now, this can probably sound like I'm going in knowing I will lose... I gave my all going in there, don't get me wrong, but this caused 2 things. I was able to get in there with a clear mind, play a solid game that I knew was reflecting the level of play I was at. Again, I wanted tournament experience, far more than I wanted to win this thing. This also removed a lot of unwanted stress, I was able to enjoy my games and put everything I had into it. In the end that tournament was probably the most meaningful experience I've got, and I only one 1 game. I ended up learning a lot from the casuals before the game, I was able to speak to a lot of the better contestants about matchups, how I can improve, and most of all, watching them go through the tournament. I got on stream against Dieminion on my second match, got stomped hard, however I was very happy with how it turned out and from what I learned from the match. Wow I wrote way too much... anyway! I'll end on this, enjoy your tournament and speak to people! There's no need for you to be stressed over it, in the end you'll end up playing the game like you usually do anyway Have fun

You can use them twice and for the half damage everytime.

As in, ultra activates after the same amount of damage as it does right now, but then stays static and doesn't get better as you get lower and lower. I think that'd be cool. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind ultras, because as a comeback mechanic they're quite avoidable, and when used properly as a combo finisher (FADC, etc, the classic) they don't do nearly as much damage as raw, obviously. Mostly I just dislike the idea of comeback mechanics as a whole. But Ultras are well done in that regard at least. Well, most of them...

By playing better and outthinking the opponent щ(ಥДಥщ) Is that not what ultras are about? If your opponent doesn't respect it then they will lose their advantage -_- Besides, you can still make a comeback without an ultra, just have pro reads on your opponent. Though that will likely involve burning meter. Again though, without comeback potential this game would be far less interesting. It's not particularly entertaining to see someone essentially win as soon as they gain an advantage early on....

On the contrary, it's not entertaining when someone throws out a random ultra for 40-60% damage and wins a round. All that work that one player put in is completely thrown away because the other player happened to do an ultra input. It happens online all the time, even in major tournaments! Those are just rolleyes moments for everyone: the loser, the crowd, even the winner who knows he got lucky.

As Excalibur said, I find it much less entertaining when someone lands a random ultra and wins from a 50%~ disadvantage. Sure it's usually a situation where you can usually blame the player that's in the lead, but it's completely anti-hype. I couldn't agree less with your sentiment that situations like that make the game more exciting. Maybe to PLAY, sometimes. But as a spectator, it hurts. Plus, even when I am the one that does it, I usually feel guilty lol.
