I bodied him for the first few rounds but he started catching onto my mixups/frame traps. He started mashing crouch tech at every opportunity he could and I couldn't adjust my frame trap timing against it. Ended up like 60-40 in my favor.

Evil Ryu vs Rufus stun setup:

s.HP LK Axe Kick -> FADC -> cl.MP MK Axe Kick -> cr.LP cr.HP MK Axe Kick -> s.LP -> s.MP -> EX Axe Kick.

Requires a bit less than 2 bars to start. Resets, hits overhead about 2 frames after the combo ends. Stuns fresh if not avoided.

Combo after stunned:
(EX Axe Kick ->) j.HK -> s.HP MK Axe Kick -> cr.LP cr.HP MK Axe Kick -> HP Shoryuken

Expected damage:
444 + 551 = 995(will be less due to scaling). Meter positive if you LP Shoryuken during the stun.

This seems like it should get you a second bar, probably not from the first combo but likely during the post-stun combo. You may be able to LP shoryu FADC ultra. Are you far enough away that an LP shoryu hits late enough to set you up for a meterless ultra? You'd be looking at like 15 extra damage but every little bit helps.

I also fell victim to a particularly nasty ERyu corner setup where he ends his LK tatsu with a c.mp. I can't remember if he FADC'd after the c.mp or not, but it ended up with a really ambiguous left-right 50/50 where he could either walk forward and appear on the other side or walk forward then stop just slightly to stay on the same side.

Really enjoyed Top 8. Mike Ross always fun, despite taking 4th again. Valle was so solid, every good showing by him makes me like him more and more. Wolfkrone always a pleasure too. Very inspiring Viper play, usually gets me going for a week or two of actually practicing Viper since she's one of my favorites but I don't put in the work to learn her yet.
