Hawk basically just dies to Sakura's s.hk/c.mk-shou and he's free to jump-ins because of his terrible antiairs. Once you land a hard knockdown it's basically over for him because of a relatively easy-to-land unblockable. It's a lot easier than fighting against Gief or Hakan though, Hakan having superior antiair options and great space control when oiled and Gief being able to challenge with his own s.lk/s.mp to get in with EX hand.

Quite the opposite, I've got a ton of experience vs hawk. A couple of our best players (including jozhear) main or alt hawk, they agree the big man is hella free to sakura.
sakura vs gief is only slightly in gief's favor and he has much better footsies and defensive tools than hawk. I think you'rr underestimating how risky his pokes are because of how slow they all recover. sakura's s.rh owns hawk, largely cuz of the threat of a jumpin to punish a poorly spaced hawk rh or sweep. hawk doesnt have a dominant midrange poke like gief s.mp to contest sakura's amazing (in this matchup anyway) midrange buttons. to put it in perspective, if gief uses his s mp to dominate the space in front of him, it whiffs fast enough for gief to antiair. hawk cant do that.
plus he is huge and that makes for hella easy mixups, and he cant lariat out of the really dirty ones like gief can.
and sakura has a hell of a lot of mixups that spd is no help against, dunno wtf youre talking about on that front

Sakura's standing roundhouse is not too good against hawk imo. He can punish it quite easily with a jump instant condor dive on reaction. I understand what you're talking about unblockable wise, that's really solid, but on the other front, once hawk knocks sakura down, it's honestly over barring a great read on an uppercut.
Hawk's ground game isn't rock solid, but it works wonders against characters with weak footsies. He can walk you to the corner very well, and you're underestimating the strength of cl.mp anti-air from Hawk. It's not fool-proof but it gets it done well enough. Plus, he can make a few mistakes without it being too big of a deal with his 1100 health.
Once hawk blocks the initial mixup, spd is still good. The spd or ex dp game that hawk brings works pretty dang well against Sakura imo.
I'm sorry if my first post came off as confrontational, but I've just never seen anyone say Sakura beats any of the grapplers. So, let me just respectfully disagree with what you're saying.

Sakura has weak footsies? I strongly disagree with that. Jozhear's thawk has probably the best footsies if ANY hawk because of who's playing him (jozhear is a ridiculously talented Claw) and, like i said, he agreees with my assertation that sakura handily wins in that department. you can't really instant condor dive sakura's s.rh on reaction at all; i dont have the frame data in front of me but sakura's s.rh whiffs pretty fast, certainly too fast to dive unless youre making a read, and if i hit any other button in that case, or nothing at all, hawk is gonna get punished for ~410 damage into a safe mixup. the risk-reward is not in his favor in this scenario.
does abel count as a grappler? sak crushes him too

Alright, we'll agree to disagree. Jozhear is a good player, but perhaps we're playing against hawk players with a drastically different gameplan for the way they play the character? Because i've never seen a hawk player scared to walk at and play footsies with a Sakura.
And no, abel doesnt. But he sure does get fucked by sakura LOL

so when i bought the pc version on steam, the game launched, and it asked me for the product key. i typed it in, and it just registered the key to my roommate's GFWL account. didn't ask me to enter an existing account or anything, somehow it just chose my roommate's account seemingly at random even though it launched from my steam account -_-
apparently the process is irreversible, so i'm fucked. great!

theyre character specific to get 4 or sometimes 5, but cl.mk xx tatsu, cl.fp xx tatsu, c.fp xx tatsu works on almost everyone. cl.mk xx tatsu, c.fp xx tatsu, s.lk xx dp works on everyone.

Since we're on the topic of sakura, whats the deal with her front throw? Sometimes i end up less than a square away, other times im over a square away.

the distance varies depending on how close to the corner you are. if you are in the corner yourself and you throw your opponent he travels further from you. you can still set up the same ambiguous shit, you just have to walk forward instead of backwards, and its a little tight. once you're inside the middle 2/3 of the screen or so, the distance after throw is the same

You can create multiple accounts on GFWL so you're fine. For example, I started my AE PC campaign under SummonSuffering but later I created a new TLExcaliburZ account with new savedata, new everything and I didn't have to enter another key. Even if it does ask I'm pretty sure you can just use the same key.

what you do against those jump-in airthrows, dunno how to describe it any better. akuma, guy and gouken come to my mind who have that. getting owned by this way too often. i'ts especially worse when i'm trying to wake-up and i tried so much: blocking, jumping, dp mashing, throwing myself ... it always gets me.
i guess wake-up dash works? is that it? because that seems like a pretty risky move against a lot of other attacks.

unless they time it perfectly on your wakeup you can crouch under akuma/guy's throw thingies, gouken can still grab you crouching tho
the reason being, akuma/guy cant grab crouching people, but there is 1 frame immediately when u wake up where u are counted as standing by the engine even if you're holding down. they can grab you on that frame but it requires a specific setup. if they just do it raw, just crouch. vs akuma, there's nothing he can do, cuz you can block the palm while crouching now. just dont hit a button or try to anti-air it or move, or they will totally grab you
from neutral, if they just do it, meeting them in the air with a normal/air throw is a good tactic. which character do you play?
and yeah wakeup backdash should work but it loses to everything else they do besides the throw =[
