dieminion vs gamerbee free? guile vs adon? u must be on crack, also mago will probably beat wolfkrone
Dieminion has a pretty awful record against Gamerbee but iirc Dieminion said fairly recently that he went and learnt the vs Adon matchup because he kept running into Gamerbee like every tournament and that now he finds Adon pretty free. Think he said he played Gamerbee in a FT5 or something and went 5-1, think this was on commentary on a big two or something. Really really hoping he does well this tournament.
Also Wolfkrone has an insanely good record vs Mago but Mago does look different recently and Wolfy hasnt exactly been showing up to tournaments etc. Rooting for Wolfkrone but could go either way. Getting annoyed at the lack of decent Vipers in every single major :o(.
The source of Mago's power according to arturo is being in Japan or on Japanese soil.
What do you guys think about matchups between the top tier characters? Fun to watch?
(Obviously high level gameplay is always awesome, but i'm referring to characters not players)
Adon makes me fall asleep and all his matchups feel very close to the same (to watch), not that id call him top tier, just that Gamerbee goes deep everywhere he plays. Cammy also feels kinda meh personally. Other than that enjoy most chars that feature often.
Oh Rufus too, pretty dull. Used to be kinda hype but then saw 1928579857 Ricky vs Justin finals and kinda started to find him boring as shit. Always in a dilemma watching tournaments because I want Justin to do well/go far, but want to see as little Rufus as possible. :o(
Adon is definitely top tier (up there with Cammy, Akuma, Fei Long, Seth imo), and yes, many of his matchups feel similar. He isn't my favorite character to watch, but not my least favorite either. I agree about the Rufus supersaturation too, but in this type of tournament, I will definitely be cheering for Ricky and Justin.
As for favorites, I think Daigo and Fuudo are the obvious choices and I would love to see either of them win this kind of title. I'm still hoping for a deep run by a lot of the USA guys though (except Floe lol)
So are there any beginner tips for getting combo's down (even doing the trial some of those combo's seem impossible to get consistently... like ryu's crouching medium punch, crouching medium punch, crouching medium kick)? Suggested first chars? I dont really like sagat for some reason but have always loved ryu. Should I stick with Ryu or switch to Akuma?

Trial combos are wildly impractical. Those random string that are hard to combo are called links, and basically the timing is just tight and tricky for new players. I'd Google/Youtube some basic (Bread and Butter, BnB) combos for the char you want to play and do those in training mode against a dummy.

commentating one of the NEC day1 money matches in art's channel, he told he was pretty confident for 25th, as long as he didnt face adon and some other I dont remember, that said of course if someone can do it thats him but man, that matchup is so rough
It's all just timing. Many combos will contain points where you have a 1-2 frame (1/60th of a second) window to press the input.
Don't mash the buttons. It's usually just timing specific. Practice until you grasp the rhythm
If you are having trouble with a trial mode combo, try looking for a youtube video of someone doing the trials along with a camera showing their pad / stick. This can help you work out the timing for the combo.
If you look at the opponent health bar, there's a sort of 'spark' that runs along their health bar based on hitstun that you can use to help your timing
If you have an arcade stick, you could look up plinking
For character choice, just find someone that you like. Don't worry too much about balance, just learn the basics and if you want you can always swap to another character later.

Two moves that don't cancel into each other have to be "linked" together, where the hitstun of one move allows you to combo into another move with proper timing. The rule for links is that if you execute the second move and it's blocked, it means you hit the button too late, but if you hit the button and the move doesn't come out, you hit it too early.
c.mp->c.mp is a 2-frame link so pretty repeatable with decent timing. c.mp->c.mk is a 1-frame link so it's twice as strict on timing. The game runs at 60fps so your timing needs to be down to 1/60th of a second. There are some tricks that high level players use to assist them in 1-frame links but they require some research and practice of their own.
By the way, there's a SF25 Fantasy Bracket in place on SRK. Two, actually, one official and one by UltraDavid. Not sure what the deadline is, but I'm sure it's soon:

Think this may have been literally a few days ago during big two so after NEC, could be misremembering tho. Maybe he saw he was vs Gamerbee first round at 25th and decided to fix it :o). Really hope he has and im remembering correctly.

One of those tricks is plinking.
Plinking allows you two chances to hit the 1-frame links.
