In order, they are: -Street Fighter 4 (aka "vanilla SF4") -Super Street Fighter 4 (aka "Super") -Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition (aka "AE") -Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition v2012 (aka "AE 2012" or "v2012") AE 2012 is purely a free DLC add on to AE only and is not yet out on PC. Consoles have retail copies of the first 3 on the list. PC only has Vanilla SF4 and AE. Super was skipped entirely on PC. If you got Vanilla SF4 on PC by accident, you won't be able to upgrade to Super, AE, or AE 2012 at all unfortunately. It gets extremely confusing for newcomers thanks to the way Capcom keeps naming the iterations of their games. You could check the cover's side for the full title of the copy you got, or if you don't mind, you could post a picture of the box art. That would help us confirm which iteration you got for sure (unless of course your retailer messes around with game covers lol). Minor correction, AE2012 is coming to PC, it's just arriving "later" ( date unannounced ). ( free dlc to AE opbviously ).

Unfortunately, I'm playing on a keyboard so things aren't in line with their suggestions ): ugh, cant even imagine what its like to play on a keyboard :<, if you foresee yourself spending a decent amount of time with the game i would strongly suggest a decent pad or a stick, makes it so much more enjoyable. On a side note i tried street fighter 4 for 3ds today, the controls are actually not as bad as i expected, its a pretty legit version.

They are banned in tournaments and don't work on consoles. By most players standards they are seen in a very poor light, almost as bad as using turbo. 3P and 3K aren't so bad, most modern sticks are 8 button now, but the Grab and Focus ones aren't cool.

Unfortunately, I'm playing on a keyboard so things aren't in line with their suggestions ): If you already have a Xbox or a PS3, you can easily use one of your controllers on the PC. My friends have gotten a PS3 controller to work perfectly on the PC. I believe the xbox controller should work the same. As I'm sure you'll find out at that underground electronics lounge you're going to, there are plenty of cheap sticks that will work on the PC. Although it is a matter of preference, generally keyboards are the least preferred controller choice.

I've never heard of any tournament banning the use of binds to throw and focus. In fact, Wolfkrone, Inthul, and Vangief all use custom control schemes because they play on pad, and binds to throw and focus are common. The only "macros" that are banned are actual macros: a scripted series of commands executed in order to automate things like combos. Throw and focus are legitimate binds and they're accessible right there from the button config menu... why wouldn't they be allowed? Also to TDL: I've heard that Q-W-E-Space (as left down right up respectively, A-S-D-Space if you have smaller hands) is preferable to WASD because it makes motions easier since you're not fumbling around moving fingers anywhere. This is the same layout that Hitbox input devices use. It might take a little getting used to at first, but you should adapt quickly and your execution should become more consistent. For the record I don't believe binds to throw and focus are required at all since it's easy enough to hit 1+4 and 2+5 just as you would on a stick, and additionally that gets you out of the habit of keeping your fingers on the same set of keys since you have to travel relatively far to hit 0 and . (an extra row). Try going without.

At the arcade, there are no macros beyond the three buttons, so I guess I shouldn't get used to it :x

Speaking of which, if you get a pad, I recommend something with a 6 face button layout, though there are strong players that manage with regular pads.

I've seen a lot of button checks before matches, and I have never once seen anyone use Throw/Focus/Taunt binds, including those prominent pad players. Even on a default 360 or PS3 pad, hitting lp+lk or mp+mk isn't very hard assuming you have heavy attacks bound to the shoulder buttons. From oldschool arcade 6 button purists, anything beyond that is not looked upon favorably, and you will have problems if you ever want to play at an arcade. Speaking of which, if you get a pad, I recommend something with a 6 face button layout, though there are strong players that manage with regular pads. Isn't it a running gag that Fanatiq actually unkeybound Assist 2 in Marvel vs Capcom 2 so he could keybind grab or a 1 button dash due to the fact that he is a pad player? I'm not sure if it was grab but I know something like that was true, also most players will still keybind the 7th and 8th buttons to lk+mk+hk and lp+mp+hp. So if they allow that I'm sure they wouldn't mind key binding focus attacks or grabs, it's just that nobody does it.

@Benjef: Ryu and Balrog are most often the ones people suggest for noobs. I agree, though Guile and T Hawk are also options.

SF4 a waste compared to SF4:AE? What are the real differences between the 2? Once I get the basics down where should I go to learn more about the game? Thank in advanced~
