What are the real differences between the 2? Once I get the basics down where should I go to learn more about the game? Thank in advanced~ Dont get SF4, You'll only have around half the characters and all the balance changes wont be there. SSF4:Ae is the one to get. Which will be updated to version 2012 soonish for PC. It's already out for consoles but they haven't released the update yet for PC. As for websites, shoryuken.com is the main one to look at. They have character specific forums with every type of information you need. They also have a wiki section that is very helpful for new players and many videos for the sort. Also eventhubs.com is helpful too. I dropped sakura a while ago too, though not because she's bad. That bitch is so godlike and i hate her so much. 4 frame down fierce? yes please. Ridiculously long combos with high stun and incredibly safe pressure? 3 frame standing jab, fierce and standing short? that is just so cheap. Hidden top tier in AE, really only Uryo was discovering her.

The only thing that will transfer from SF to Tekken is the ability to learn a new game quicker and easier once you understand fighting game basics. Even blocking is hella different. Knowing how to learn a game (what to look for in pokes, immediately learning basic punish combos, how to anti air, how to punish unsafe moves) will transfer, which is why even in week 1 of a brand new game, people like JWong are still among the best.

I think the main point is that nothing will ever substitute for actual gameplay experience. Yes you will understand some fighting game mechanics, but knowing the fighting game mechanics is like a house without a foundation, especially when coming over to Tekken, a 3D game, from SF, a 2D game. You need to learn the character moves (112), the bounces, the juggles, strategy, and engine nuances, and the only thing having good general fighting game knowledge is going to partially help you with is the strategy. People like JWong might be able to pull ahead if when everyone starts at an even footing, but if you want to beat your friends that own the game, you won't be starting at an even footing. Don't be fooled: fighting games are very VERY deep and nuanced, and it won't be easy destroying your friends. TL;DR: No, learning the basics of SSF4AE will not help you significantly, and the only way you will beat your friends in Tekken is if you get Tekken yourself

Yes you can, this video has more info on super jumps. super jump cancel's are probably a bit too tricky for keyboard, though i've never tried it with keyboard.

Since I live in Brazil, I have to deal with ~150ms latency on pretty much everygame. How bad is latency on fighting games? Is SSF4 cross platform? (PS3, XBOX and PC play together) IS SSF4 the best one to get into the competitive scene? Thanks!

In terms of how easy it is to pick up, I'd go with SSF4AE, as Blazblue and KOF require some pretty fast inputs and timing. SSF4AE is a bit more straight forward, no overly complex systems, where in BlazBlue every character has their own little thing and in KOF you have a lot of different jumps, for example (also KOF XIII's meter system is quite complex). Marvel vs Capcom 3 has an enormous gap between noobs and high level play, which is really hard to overcome by yourself. As for Brazil specifically, check out the following links: http://www.portalversus.com.br/ http://www.hitconfirm.com.br/

The community for Blazblue is a lot smaller. In Brazil people also like KOF, but I think SSF4AE is probably the biggest. Marvel vs Capcom 3 is mostly only big in the US. I guy said that he owns a XBOX just to play SSF4AE.

Most Xbox 360 that I found there were hacked, lol, although there is official support now. As for PC, I think there aren't too many players on PC, as PC's are really expensive in Brazil, as you know. Also keep in mind that PC releases are always delayed. PC still didn't get the 2012 update for SSF4AE, where it is live on PSN/Xbox Live already. mmhn k ty. ^_^ And how do you know so much about Brazil? O_O

Man, I should really play some AE again, but there's so much stuff out right now... I've been liking KOF XIII, it's fun, but the trials are quite challenging :D

Ibuki vortex. After a hard knockdown on the opponent she has several options to either cross them up on their wakeup (kunai, crossup short, etc) and fake crossups. If you're opponent guesses wrong, you can knock them down and continually put them into this situation, like a "vortex".
