it depends entirely on drivers.

For sagat, your biggest tools will be st.hk as a poke and anti air from certain ranges (seriously mash this button you'll be amazed how often it makes good things happen), towards + hk (this is your far anti air, can combo into ultra or just tiger knee if it hits), fireballs to keepaway (be careful when they're about half a screen away, if they pre emptively jump a fireball at this range you'll get slammed), tiger knees for pressure (light is used for pressure, medium is a decent anti air), and uppercuts for up close anti airs.
st.lk and cr.lk are also boss when people get close to push them out a bit into cr.mk xx fireball.
there's a ton more technical stuff, of course, but starting out the hk will just solve problems for sagat, since it's 2 hits it even beats armor like balrogs ex rush punches.
The day zlasher stops talking about stuff he doesn't really know about is the day zlasher ceases to breathe imo. But it at least baited a few more knowledgeable players (like yourself, Luckbox) into the thread, so it aint all bad :>
@ Peanut, it should work fine. I've used both ps3 hori stick and 360 TE stick to play things on pc, haven't tried specifically a ps3 TE with the new AE port but I see no reason why it shouldn't work. Some people have reported the 360 TE as working easier with PC, so unless your friends play ps3 or something that could be the wiser choice.

definitely not. not worth talking about character relevance because its just a discussion of matchups in which maybe 3 characters are fucked.
ps. makoto embodies everything that game should be. she's closer to a GG character than BB.

Thanks bro, instead of talking as if I'm not reading this just say it to me and stop being a little bitch. I never said I knew about BBCS2 I just went off of what my friend told me, who mains BBCS2 and was a former top 3 finisher in evo for guilty gear. Noel is solid, probably the top 2-3 characters after Makoto. Dirty dirty character for sure.

Once sagat is in the corner though, he's in a lot of trouble. Crossups will stuff uppercuts, your ground speed is bad, basically it's the position you want to get out of ASAP

So, what I'm wondering, is:
What are the player bases like for each platform, and how easy is it to find a game? What is the netcode (hope I'm using the right word) like, and what is there a noticeable difference in lag between platforms? What is you personal preference, if you've played or own the game on multiple platforms?
Also, if anyone has some words on just good ways to start learning and playing the game, that would be cool too :p.
If anyone feels like answering these question, I'd be much obliged.
Thanks! Player bases generally go like this: Xbox>PC>PS3 (do note that consoles do have higher skill pools when compared to PC). On TL, apparently everyone but me uses PC lol I have no trouble finding a game on XBL. Ping isn't bad, just find people with green bars. If you are starting, pick a character you like (preferably a shoto since they are very basic) and learn their moves. You will get raped when you start out (think BW), but once you learn the combos and matchups, you will win a bit more consistently. Alternatively, you can just be an online warrior and SHORYUKEN SHORYUKEN
Ok, thanks a lot. So those characters would be like Ryu, Ken, and Sakura, or something like that? (Bear with me I've only ever played a bit of Streetfighter 4 before for fun, and watched a couple videos and part of EVO of AE)

Thanks! XBL and PSN have the larger player bases. I think XBL has a bigger one, but don't quote me on that. The only thing I know for certain is that GFWL (Games for Windows Live, the multiplayer platform used on PC) is absolutely terrible. As for a beginner tutorial, this is one of the best entry guides out there: http://www.youtube.com/user/VesperArcade#p/c/744144A71C67D816Also: as teamliquid.net is to Starcraft, shoryuken.com is to Street Fighter.
Ok, thanks. I've had to deal with GFWL with other stuff like DoW:2, but I didn't know SSF4 was on it too. -_- That's probably going to influence my decision.
Thanks for the video, I'll give it a watch right now. I've also heard and been on shoryuken, but wasn't sure if there were other site or if that was the main one.
Thanks a lot, guys!

the secret to shoryuken is to post in match-finder forums only.

I have a Madcatz TE for PS3 and I can confirm that it DOES NOT work on the pc, UNLESS you have an Intel or VIA chipset. However, there is a workaround...you can buy a USB PCI card that has the appropriate chipset, such as this one, which is what I did to be able to play SSF4AE on my pc.
So I would recommend that you take a look at your motherboard first to see what kind of chipset you have. If you have the more common Nvidia or AMD chipset, then either get a 360 stick or be prepared to get a USB card (which is cheap anyways, just make sure your motherboard has an available PCI slot).
