No it's not really anything like MvC3 either. It's closer to SF4 in everything except tag combos and assists, and even those are different.

Well, there are pretty much over 9000 naked cammy skins on the internet -.-

it won't be anything like MvC. MvC revolves around assists, not tags.
it's going to play extremely similarly to CvS with some crazy tekken tag shit thrown in the mix.

mechanically they will differ. SFxT appears to be very chain based which is why i compare it to a CvS moreso.

it's kind of just gonna be its own thing which is how it should be.
I'm disappointed by this too. I favor the MvC1 style with health regen and KO'ing both members.
Speaking of MvC, I'm disappointed that Capcom hasn't implemented crossover team battles (2 players vs 2 players) that have existed in the world of MAME That would be a much better version of "Team Battle"

How is the balance in the game? I read comments such as that and I just don't understand. Are there a few characters who are clearly better than the rest? I understand tiers because I used to play SSB melee but are there match ups that are pretty much unwinnable? I'm especially eerie of characters that become available via DLC.
I want to play a game that is current and will remain current. I understand the arcade edition just came out but is there a chance of a new street fighter or game coming out? I'm not trying to buy a game, get good at it, then have to play a whole new game in three months.
Also should I invest in a pad? Never played in arcades and I barely play console games at that so neither a controller nor joystick are especially comfortable for me. What is the exact reasons most people prefer the pad? The preciceness of movements?
Do appreciate all of your input. Thank you.
SSFIV AE is the most balanced fighting game out there.
6-4 is absolutely winnable, it's considered disadvantageous but the stronger player will almost always win. 7-3 is a bad match-up, players really need to work in these, but fortunately there's not many of these in the game. 8-2 is considered a terrible match-up and the only one that exists is probably Dhalhim vs. the twins.
Hey, so I've come to the conclusion that I want to actually pick up SSF4:AE.
However, I'm still deciding on what platform I should play it on, between Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. I don't own a stick for any of them, so I'll start out by playing just on the pad/keyboard.
So, what I'm wondering, is:
What are the player bases like for each platform, and how easy is it to find a game? What is the netcode (hope I'm using the right word) like, and what is there a noticeable difference in lag between platforms? What is you personal preference, if you've played or own the game on multiple platforms?
Also, if anyone has some words on just good ways to start learning and playing the game, that would be cool too :p.
If anyone feels like answering these question, I'd be much obliged.

Balance is pretty good in this game. Yes there obviously are characters that are just better than the rest but that doesn't mean there are unwinnable match ups. Like someone mentioned earlier the only match up that is stupid hard is Sim vs the twins. There are no DLC characters in this game.

The majority of street fighter skills will carry over unless you play someone random like Viper or Fuerte. Look at John Choi, he's been playing fireball characters almost the exact same way for at least 10 years now. Every fighting game has different mechanics but it shouldn't be too hard to adjust if you put in some time.
Also should I invest in a pad? Never played in arcades and I barely play console games at that so neither a controller nor joystick are especially comfortable for me. What is the exact reasons most people prefer the pad? The preciceness of movements?
Most people don't prefer pad because they are the opposite of precise movements. They don't last as long as sticks either. They'll work for you if you try it and decide put time into it though.

Not Dhalsim vs twins, its Dhalsim vs Yun. Yang vs Dhalsim is like 6.5-3.5
Well in terms of characters viable against other characters, SF is much better than BBCS2 or T6 or maybe even Marvel 3 right now. But thats just like, the cast agianst the cast, obviously the outliers are twins and fei which are just 6-4 against a lot, but even the mid low tier is viable against 90% of the cast in AE.

Player bases generally go like this: Xbox>PC>PS3 (do note that consoles do have higher skill pools when compared to PC). On TL, apparently everyone but me uses PC lol
I have no trouble finding a game on XBL. Ping isn't bad, just find people with green bars.
If you are starting, pick a character you like (preferably a shoto since they are very basic) and learn their moves. You will get raped when you start out (think BW), but once you learn the combos and matchups, you will win a bit more consistently. Alternatively, you can just be an online warrior and SHORYUKEN SHORYUKEN

Really?
Hakumen player won evo and he's bottom tier ( except for tager ). That's equivalent to Blanka winning evo ( which just wouldn't happen purely due to bad matchup rape ).
BBCS2 tiers are much tighter than AE, SSF4 was better balanced than AE.

But thats BBCS2, and its Evo, its not like a lot of top players showed up, isn't the better or equally valid example ReveLAtions where that one top japanese guy showed up and just rapefaced EVERYONE with Makoto Nanaya? From everything I hear from top players in that game, there are really only two truly relevant characters which are Makoto and like...Plat or something right?
Well, not sure if if I can post this here, but I have been wanting to learn to use Sagat/Juri (the characters I feel the most confortable with, especially Sagat) but I can't seem to find ways to improve, or how am I supposed to play those characters. I saw some videos of Sagat played by pro's and all I see is tons of zoning, keeping the guy away...or something, can't really tell.
So yeah, if anybody could help me out it would be greatly appreciated!
I'm buying a Madcatz TE stick for the playstation 3 this friday and was planning on buying SSF4AE for the pc, and I have some questions. I know that the ps3 uses a USB port but can I still plug my stick into the computer and have it work with SSF4AE for the PC?

So a Hakumen player winning evo isn't relevant because no top japanese players showed up, but revelations shows character imbalance because a makoto won ( despite being played by an elite japanese player ).

Plat isn't even top 8 in character picks, so essentially you're just asserting things about something you don't really know about.
Makoto Tager is like 65/35 and thats the best character vs the worst character.

XBL and PSN have the larger player bases. I think XBL has a bigger one, but don't quote me on that. The only thing I know for certain is that GFWL (Games for Windows Live, the multiplayer platform used on PC) is absolutely terrible.

Yes, it will work. I recently got a Hori V3 for PS3, and it works fine with my PC. Just plug in, config, and play
