As long as its not the in game character model of rose, she has man hands.

Anyways I'm playing some AE on PC right now, first match Gief vs Akuma, got zoned to hell

Now I'm on a small upswing, winning some pretty close matches so I'm feeling ogod for once, not sure if I should quit while I'm ahead or keep playing and end up salty as hell

i don't have any rl friends with ae (let alone ssf4)
also they don't own credit cards

only thing i can think of is someone in europe with the ae dlc lending me their psn account so i can d/l the game, or i can paypal a european to buy me a card so i can make a new european account and apply the dlc on there.

Pretty sure EB or JB let your order the cards online? Just wait the day or two for it to be delivered. If not i could check my locals this weekend if you wanted?

Looking for advice on picking a new character, sick of Juri v Guile/Zangief, was thinking Ibuki or Ken, I like fireballs and being extremely aggresive so any suggestions would be welcome

nah i don't see anything on there.
either way i think it would be cheaper if i got a european to buy the dlc for me, considering it's cheaper (and i imported my copy from the uk, if it matters)

maybe i should just get a visa debit card ;;

I bought the hard-copy version. Can you not get that where you live?

why should i spend more on a hard copy when i already have ssfiv?

I've been looking into getting a fighting game and I'm thinking about getting into Street fighter. I do have a couple of questions though:

How is the balance in the game? I read comments such as that and I just don't understand. Are there a few characters who are clearly better than the rest? I understand tiers because I used to play SSB melee but are there match ups that are pretty much unwinnable? I'm especially eerie of characters that become available via DLC.

I want to play a game that is current and will remain current. I understand the arcade edition just came out but is there a chance of a new street fighter or game coming out? I'm not trying to buy a game, get good at it, then have to play a whole new game in three months.

Also should I invest in a pad? Never played in arcades and I barely play console games at that so neither a controller nor joystick are especially comfortable for me. What is the exact reasons most people prefer the pad? The preciceness of movements?

Do appreciate all of your input. Thank you.

most of the people complaining about matchups complain about things that aren't even relevant to what tilts the matchup (i'm lookin at you SRK). it is a very small minority that actually understands what faults their character has versus another or what to exploit. numbers are useful, but arbitrary. there is a large learning and skill curve that must be overcome before matchups can be attributed to losing (as with most games). in other words, take matchup discussions with a grain of salt as with anything on the internet.

aside from maybe GGAC, SSF4 was probably the most balanced 2d fighter (no fighter has ever been perfect but god it was close). the AE iteration detracted from that however and has quite a bit more character bottleneck with a glaring god tier as well (he is still not as bad as vanilla sagat though). there's no denying that AE was for sure a step backwards though.

the skills you develop learning SF4 apply to any fighting game in the market right now. being good at fighting games is quite universal with minor technicalities. regardless, SF4's niche will not be filled by another for quite some time. a rebalanced AE is being released at the end of this year which will only further AE's life. play whatever is most fun to you - but to answer you directly SF4's life is quite sustained right now.

they don't. anyway, it's just preference with both having pros and cons. i use a stick, my friend uses a pad. he rapes me some days, i rape him some days.

I honestly can't speak much on balance because I'm not particularly great, I'm decent at best right now. There will always be some characters that shit on others and weird match ups, as with any game. They're planning on releasing a balance patch so don't let that hold you back.

The next game coming out is Street Fighter X Tekken (I believe), I don't think that will replace AE any time soon. Even if it did, All the skill you build with playing AE will transfer over. As with any other fighting game, Imo.

If you are not particular to either, I would suggest investing in a Fight Stick. I've had mine for a while and I'm still not completely used to it like I should be.

The upcoming SFxT should be pretty close to SF4 in terms of gameplay, but MvC3 is a different beast. Of course the basic mechanical skills apply to both, QC/DP motions etc, but being good in SF4 doesn't really stop you from getting dominated in MvC3. It's still a fun game and worth learning though, it just requires its own hours spent in training mode.

i don't see SFxT being similar to SF4 at all. why? just because they use the same engine?

it's gonna be the new CvS.

edit - and i was alluding to the fact that being good at one fighter is not entirely wasted on another.

Footsies, spacing, blocking etc. look very similar in the videos I've seen so far. Tag combos are of course new, but they're not the whole game.

e: I guess it looks so similar because everyone plays it like it's SF4, I suppose the metagame will evolve once the game is actually out.
