TSL is abbreviation for The Sith Lords (KotOR 2). I don't know if TSLRCM adds this or not, I'm still on Telos...

Now these are the games to be considered old lol... Actually quite tempted now to try and get my hands of a working copy of Planescape Torment. Heard the story was darn good in that game.

I've never played either Kotor, but I have a quiestion for people that did: Are Darth Bane and Darth Zannah in the game? I read the Darth Bane trilogy and he's for sure Starwars' most badass character ever!

No. But Reven and Malak are by far two of the most badass characters in the Starwars "universe" (IMO) I've played these games at least 9 times each. Best. RPGs. Ever.

Are you sure you meant Darth Bane and not Cad Bane?

Cad is awesome. But to answer your question: Events in KotOR (both of them as there's just 5 years between them) take place approximately 3000 years before Darth Bane or Darth Zannah make their appearance.

Yes you are right
+ Show Spoiler +I remembered those names (Malak and Revan) because Darth Bane actually recovers Revan's holocron in order to learn about the thoughtbomb and more, and uses it to purge all the sith but himself!
Still, makes me wanna play Kotor for sure :p

KotOR was certainly an enjoyable game; however, my favorite RPG was the very first one I played, Earthbound for the SNES. Perhaps it's nostalgia, but I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline (it certainly felt epic for a SNES game), the ol' standard turn-based combat (I first learned the greek alphabet from this game, ha), and all the oddities that made this game unique (fighting deranged hippies, fighting yourself in a nightmare, using prayer to win battles, etc). If you can get your hands on a copy, I'd recommend it.

I just couldn't get into this game when I bought it.
Played it for a couple hours but I just hated the combat system too much to continue. I think maybe if I had tried it a few years ago I would have loved it but it's just too dated for my tastes.

Yes, it is.Get it from Good Old Games.Actually the stories of all the RPGs I enumerated are really good. There hasn't been an RPG made yet that could equal them. If a djin gave me a wish i'd want to erase the memories of those games out of my mind so I could enjoy them again without knowing the plot. That's how awesome they are.

You can use force breach or drain life on them yourself I believe.
What did you spend your 12 (at least) force power points on?

Seriously? Seeing as 90% of this game is dialogue and only 10% is combat I would hardly view this as hindrance...
P. S.
Why the hell would you bold first letters of every sentence and each period? Please stop...

because of this thread i bought this game. problem is, i cant run it without "disable movies" on win7x64. do i know have to miss all ingame cutscenes/movies? i already downloaded a movie player so i can access them from the folder, but i think if i watch the movies outside the game it will greatly decrease the gaming experience + idk which file to play at point XY in the game. any ideas?

1. Have you tried the vista/w7 fix posted in the OP? 2. The movies are pretty short anyway, which game did you get, KotOR1 or 2?
Edit: Found something that might work for you:
Ok, for the cutscene errors, download the Mss32.dll, and overwrite the file currently in the same folder as swkotor2.exe. For the no savegame issue, in the same place as the Windows XP compatability mode box, look toward the bottom of the window. There should be a 'Run this program as an Administrator' checkbox. Check it, and your savegames should stay there.
The problem is that all folders and files in the 'Program Files' folder is protected by administrative priveleges. By running as an administrator, you have read and write access to the entire computer, except system folders, such as the 'Windows' folder on the root of your C drive. If for some reason the startup cutscenes crash, check 'Disable visual thems', 'Disable desktop composition' and 'Disable display scaling on high DPI settings'
Oh, and windows xp compatability mode does not need a virtual machine with more expensive versions of Windows 7. You can get the virtual machine version, and it is much more compatible with windows XP software, but the graphics card is emulated (Virtual machine, duh) so games run like molasses, if at all.

Edit2: when setting compatibility mode, set it for swkotor.exe, not launcher.exe or desktop shortcut.

There needs to be a Kotor3 so badly.
I liked the story in the first better, but gameplay in the 2nd, just because of the extra classes and the crafting of your lightsabre and stuff. You can get so powerful its ridic.
But yeah the story in the first is by far better, the ending is so mysterious it's soo awesome

KOTOR 2 was awesome. Thanks for the remind Now I have to buy KOTOR 1 somewhere...
|
played both games two times, and how half of ppl in this thread... the force ordered me to play it again... again... again..... bastila and visas <3

|
Any ideas on how to get a working KOTOR2 for windows 7, i tried buying a hard copy but it wont even install.
|
Played both of them a couple of times... Just installed again but the beginning is always so boring without the lightsabers and cool gear :p So i tried to cheat and mod a bit. However I can get the cheats to work I added that enablecheats line under the game options shit in that .ini file but when I'm in game I can't find the "~" key :p
How do I type in the cheats? I can't type ~ in the game :s
