Have you tried the solution posted in the OP?

Also, running it windowed mode helps greatly.
I'm playing through TSL with the re-added content mod using Windows 7 64-bit, so it is possible.
Also, disable the movies. You miss a few cutscenes, but... they're rarely important.

Heh, I'm on Linux so I must run it windowed (which also forces me to run it 800x600 since my laptop monitor is only 768 pixels high and I don't have enough space for virtual window). I guess I could get it to work fullscreen by putting it in its own X server, but that's too much hassle and I can always browse TL.net when playing now

I suck I know it =/ You can use force breach or drain life on them yourself I believe. What did you spend your 12 (at least) force power points on? Show nested quote +On May 29 2011 09:17 GGTeMpLaR wrote: I just couldn't get into this game when I bought it.
Played it for a couple hours but I just hated the combat system too much to continue. I think maybe if I had tried it a few years ago I would have loved it but it's just too dated for my tastes. Seriously? Seeing as 90% of this game is dialogue and only 10% is combat I would hardly view this as hindrance... P. S. Why the hell would you bold first letters of every sentence and each period? Please stop...
Sorry, the intention is not for it to bother others.

Because he wants to be recognized for something, and he has no personality traits worth mentioning so he's adopted that.

KOTOR is considered old? Now I feel old...

You don't think 8 years is a long time? :D One of the best games I've played, just loved seeing how my face turned more grey after some conversations..

Saw TOR on a stream then had nostalgia. Played and beat Kotor 2 in 2 days, now replaying KOTOR 1.
It's an addiction man. I love these games so much. <3

Yeah, really loved these games, they were sooo good. Gonna have to go back and play them again now...bye summer.

I remember Kotor 1 as the first Bioware RPG I got completely addicted to until I beat it, but at the same time I hated the gameplay (the trend continued until their modern day games). It's like those page turner novels really, you just want to see what happens next in the plot and character relationships. I thought the actual gameplay was awful though.

I agree with you, I don't see what the replay value of KotOR is. I tried replaying it once, and it was pretty boring because I remembered most of the plot and the character back-stories and, as you said, the actual gameplay is not particularly exciting. For the first play through, however, the game is amazing.

What? I, and I believe many others, have replayed this game many times. I think that after I got it, I beat it at least 3 times in a row and still didn't have enough.
Edit: Updated the OP with link to HQ music and movie patches. They should make it not look/sound so bad (but it's over 1GB download).
Edit2: Packed all the mods into one place, for easier application.

hey manit0u, have any solution to characters freezing in gameplay? its not a big deal as i just tab to another character and play with it, and bug fixes when i change locations, but it sure is kinda frustrating

If your character is freezing after a fight just quick save and then quick load and your guy unfreezes.
Some of the glitches in this game are so frustrating like whenever I kill a terentaket the game crashes.

Hmm... I don't experience any problems. Might be the fact that I'm not using Windows

Well I am not saying that you shouldn't, it's just that as you (was it you?) have said the 90% of the game is in the story/character/dialogs and, well, the KotOR story is not that exciting when you already know the twists. I don't know, I have enjoyed replaying other Bioware games but not this one.

Great game, played through again a while ago when I got the steam version during a sale. It is pretty stable on win7 and I didnt encounter the crashing problems I used to have.

These graphics are bringing me back to the days of halo. And although back in those days Halo was AMAZING, I can't stand it anymore :/
Hopefully over time I'll get used to the UI, atm I'm feeling really iffy but I really want to enjoy the game.
BTW can someone outline what it is I'm supposed to expect from this game...I gather this game isn't for combat but is mainly for the story and choices etc. Is that true?
another edit: how do I get into windowed mode?
