This referee loves Messi, not a joke I read an article about him saying how Messi was the best player in the world and he wanted to trade shirts with him after a game.. Pepe basically stopped Messi from creating too much danger the entire game. The referee takes out Pepe, the lynch pin, Messi scores 2 goals.. anyone want to say the referee didn't decide this game? =D You're Portuguese, mourinho, pepe(plays for them at least) and ronaldo are Portuguese, do i see a connection?

For Real Madrid that is a digrace He ****** up in a major way, and is the sole reason why they lost Absoloute rubbish. His tactics were the sole reason Madrid were still in the game up until the sending off (which was a poor decision). Mourinho can be called a boring Manager, but never tactically poor. If Madrid had attacked Barca it could have been another 5-0, you simply do not try to "outplay" Barca, it can't be done

Commiting fouls should never be a strategy of its own, except in dire circumstances. Fouls and their associated cards only serve to handicap your team by getting players sent off or giving the other team an opportunity. Mourinho CLEARLY put Pepe there to make Barcelona´s creating dirty by any means necessary (fouling). That is not being comfortable, that is being on the edge. PS: That´s the stuffffff

Touching someone in the face is already a big no-no, but running into someone, grabbing him in the face and pushing him over just makes me speechless, so stupid and obvious red ^^

If any aggression should've been rewarded with a red card, real would be playing with 7people orso. Be careful what you wish for.

If he was hoping for a 0-0 draw, I'd say he got his tactics pretty much perfect. Only chance Barca had was Xavi before 10 men. Only thing I might criticize is Ozil starting in the place of Adebayor.

Mourinho told Pepe to do basically the same thing he did in the Copa del Rey: to stop Barcelona creation from the midfield with fouls and rough play. That is not being comfortable, that is playing on the edge. @Airship Please explain to me two things: 1) How/why dyou get a red card if you are "defending comfortably" 2) How you score a goal without having the ball in your possession (no ridiculous answer such as "own goal" plz) 1) Just about every player in this game was fouling or going over very easily. Cards had to be bandied about for the referee to feel like he can reel the game in. That Pepe was the sacrificial lamb was pretty much just dumb luck, particularly since it's the type of challenge that would usually be a yellow. I think it may have actually calmed the game down a little bit, but when the game became 11 against 10, space appeared in the midfield, and as the game progressed and Madrid tired Messi and Affelay were able to exploit some space. 2) Counter-attacking. In most competitive sports it's considered an art form. You see fighters in the ring concede initiative all the time. People use the possession stat as a shorthand for who has been in control of the match all the time because it usually works, but it doesn't always, and until the second half it didn't particularly mean much in this tie. I feel like I'm having to explain this to a baby. for most of this game, the play was broken up constantly by stoppages. Most of the possession that Barca had in the first half before the sending off were along their back four or in midfield. None of their attacking moves were particularly convincing, because Madrid have a disciplined defense and were good at marshaling the play into poor areas. There were almost as many opportunities for Madrid to get forward despite what the possession stat might tell you, and they might have made something of it but for some poor final balls into the area. Their wingers never really got going. I felt that Ozil in particular had a poor game. Barcelona's defense happens to be very good as well, not that you'd have any idea about that.

Ok real fanboy, same for you with denying!! And maybe soon football players are allowed to do some MMA combined with football. Uh Stimp is a Chelsea fan... The fact that a Chelsea and a United fan are seeing this one the same way says a lot :p The diving by both teams was atrocious. The game totally changed with the red card, which deserved a yellow. I don't see a reason for refs to favor one team over the other so I won't call it favoritism. But I am tired of watching barca's diving constantly rewarded with 11 v 10s seemingly half the time they're in a close match.

If you watched some of barca's earlier games in la liga, against some of the minor teams. You'll notice that many of the teams who doesnt dare to play football against barca and just defend, end up losing. While teams, even really bad ones compared to barca, who just go 'fuck it, lets just give it a shot' actually manage to play up to barca. You even saw it in the beginning of second half. Madrid came out blazing, they pressed barca and really started to control the game. Constant pressure, and barca made tons of mis-passing. And then pepe sees red, and it all falsl apart ![]()
