The default secondary is horrible and unreliable, after firing it a couple hundred times im still not sure how to make it register a shot (tried bouncing from the ground, at walls, shooting directly at stationary targets, nothing so far) and i cant really afford to throw like 30-40 hours of exp at the other secondary to see if it is any good. I had to learn this too, it's a similar thing to the spinfusor but more pronounced. There's a subtle lag between clicking and firing. When you're used to something like the hitscan pistol where click= bang, it's tricky to learn. I like to think of it as a super fast throw of a rock- when you click fire, your arm still has to go back and forward for the throw, so you have to compensate for that lag. Once you get the hang of adding that lag onto your leading it's a sick weapon, does incredible damage and has good clip size so you get a lot of tries at it.

The rankings is usually dominated by pathfinders and soldiers, but mopsy is always top for his team. Most heavies(non DMB) are lucky to get 10 kills and he always get 20+. I only seen him use the fusion mortar and never secondary weapon. I have been playing CTF a little bit more in the past two days. I notice no shrikes in the games. Before, I would see at least one(sometimes two) in every game. Did a patch nerf them? No one ever plays a heavy class in TDM (really rare to see any), which means the fusion mortar can1 shot every class. Now you just have to have amazing aim with it and voilá. If you have good aim with the mortar it's probably the strongest of the 3 heavies. If you can't hit anything with the mortar, it's the weakest. Also the last patch messed up shrike handling, it takes like half the map to turn around.

Both jug and doombringer are surprisingly viable in TDM, the former with mort/lmg/disc and the latter by simple expedient of the chaingun. There are a couple of guys on the AU servers who play doombringer all the time in TDM and just ski around at 50km an hour CWing people down. Usually they'll get you unless you've got a couple of people consistently landing discs on them. It's not uncommon (as in downright normal) for one of those guys to be server top by 5-8 kills.

Tribes Highlights I was watching the Tao vs Deadstop skrim and it was really good. 7v7 and both teams used 6+ different classes each game.

Everything that you can buy can be spent with xp as well as money, its equal for all, just takes longer to buy with xp.

It's a heavily skill based game So it's not really about what class they play, if you got guys who are good then they will just rape and get 20+ kills without one death as any class with any set of weapons pretty much

Aside from that, I'm enjoying the game, but yeah, unless everything is available for everyone all the time, it's bullshit.

For a game that claims eSports is a big part of what they're shooting for, the fact that it'll realistically take you 100s of hours of gameplay to unlock all the perks/abilities is a real problem. in comp servers you get everything unlocked automatically. Also, people misunderstand 'free to play' as 'free. period'. It's free to download, experience and, with some commitment you can get all the functionality of someone who pays, but ultimately if you're serious about the game, you should pay for the value you get, eg hundreds of hours of playtime. Even at 50c an hour (which when you compare to any other commercial entertainment form is super cheap) you should be investing enough money to unlock everything twice over. I think if the game gave you everything for free right at the start, people would get overwhelmed, it would be like having to learn starcraft only you need platinum level mechanics just to have an effect on a game. It's actually better that you really have to work at unlocking stuff, because it forces you to familiarise yourself with the basic skills necessary to the game, since you can't just go 'well I'm terrible at skiing and can't aim for shit so I'll just play doombringer forever'. As far as I can tell, the only two unlockable weapons that are clearly easier for rookies than the default ones are the jugg LMG and the sentinel machine pistol, so you're not getting bilked there either.
