Some of the best games I've ever played in Ascend so far. I know the feeling, it is great when you play a balanced game like that.

Especially as Raider/Soldier/Tech, the dps of the SMG's are insane compared to the explosive weapons in open space. It's not particularly hard either. I went from 0 tribes experience to being pretty good at TDM based on SMG usage alone in about 2 days. I'm bad at CTF though that gametype requires a certain amount of thinking and knowledge lol. I agree. SMG-style weapons are the most deadly in the hands of a skilled player. Too bad I'm not a skilled player... ;_;

I am not a good FPS player and normally get frustrated with them pretty fast. Tribes Ascend so far seems to be different, because it feels like i am meant to suck but encouraged to get better. Hitting people, keeping momentum and being mobile is really hard but if you get it right every now and then you just feel awesome. I would definitely recommend this game to anyone who has even a passing interest in multiplayer-FPS games. I will keep playing and maybe, someday in the far away future i will stop sucking so bad ![]()

We're just like all the other ones, but we're entitled to whine vociferously about everything for free!

I couldnt hit anything for a few games but you get a feel for it. The most important thing is positioning, put yourself in a spot where you dont have to make low percentage shots where people are moving parallel to you. If you are behind someone its very easy to hit them. Also try to wait until the peaks of their jetting if you can, even easier to hit as they are deaccelerating and starting their downward arc. I think I have pretty poor aim but I'm much smarter in putting myself in spots where I dont have to be good, so I do very well.

I think this is true for all aiming in tribes to be honest, i sucked balls with the AR in my first couple of games but after getting a feel for the spread and projectile speed my accuracy has definitely gone up :p

First couple of games I played with CoD sensititivity and that was awful ![]() I am able to play at 1sens ingame with 450dpi and no acceleration, though i have it on 3-4 for actual gameplay and bump that up to like 7 for playing with pathfinder instead of sentinel. I dont think there is a "low enough" mark in some situations, honestly i think the lower you go the better until you get to the point where you have to lift off to continue tracking a target across your screen for more than a couple seconds (in this case until your sniper is charged, if you couldnt pre-charge) and if you want a convinient more user friendly sens, you can just drop sens until you can do a 180 degree turn from moving from the middle of your pad to the left or ride side. That will allow you to hit anything in a 3d enviroment without a lift off ever, and is still "relatively" super low sens on something like a qck+ (http://i29.tinypic.com/2s18wef.jpg) For non snipers it is not really a big deal at all in this game, but dear god, hitting a target moving at 250-300 sanics at the other end of the map with sentinel is hard, playing sentinel agressively over extreme (short and long) ranges and especially trying to hit moving targets while skiing is the biggest challenge to mouse control i have ever had.

Playing a heavy is brutal. You only get 2 weapons, and your fat ass is a bullet magnet.

I know in the previous games people were still chain whores but other weapons could keep up; discs reloaded quicker and traveled faster. Yea i gotta say my enjoyment of the game on all classes dropped heavily when the classes were changed around and made cheaper recently, before, a massive amount of people played soldier or pathfinder and a few were sprinkled into other classes, but now it seems automatic weapons far outnumber spinfusers (at least in pubs), and it feels like it took a lot of the skillcap out of smaller duels, etc.
