Only a mortar or a direct spinfusor hit will one shot you I believe. So, stay away from the big green boomies (mortars) - they fly slow and have a minimum delay before exploding so you should be able to dodge them. And stay moving in unpredictable paths and stay off the ground to avoid getting killed by a spinfusor. edit: Actually I don't remember (at work can't log in right now), maybe lights only have 700 hp without the armor upgrades. If that is the case, a heavy spinfusor (Brute weapon) maximum splash will kill you - it does 700 damage. Again, stay off the ground. Versus a heavy if you manage your energy properly, you should always be able to be above them since they have abysmal energy regen.

It also makes disc jumping super awesome, since I get the impulse from the explosion and also free energy to go even higher. I can regularly get up to 200+ kph now as Brute on Katabatic, which used to take forever and a day to get to the enemy base in a heavy.

I don't like holding the flag in TDM and mostly a capper in CFT. I don't like using automatic weapons and will invest in them last. Should I invest in pathfinder, or soldier? Go for Pathfinder. They can go fastest, and their spinfuser has the shortest reload time.

you know, if any game could use 3d support, this game would be the one, I'd be interested how helpful it would be for placing those skillshots

I get stuck on the ground a lot when fighting lights and just get pummeled. With Potential Energy, every time I get hit I regain ~50 energy which is enough for me to get above them and get a shot in. And since it can take a good 5 shots to kill me and only 2 shots for me to kill them, I can actually win duels vs lights now!! :D It also makes disc jumping super awesome, since I get the impulse from the explosion and also free energy to go even higher. I can regularly get up to 200+ kph now as Brute on Katabatic, which used to take forever and a day to get to the enemy base in a heavy. What? Really? I was considering getting Potential Energy but I wasn't sure if it was worth it. I'm using egocentric right now. Which is useful to disk jump (as a brute) but that's it. It doesn't reduce self damage from disco nades. XP gain is so slow I'm torn between what I should get. Safety third and Potential? Should I try the magnum? Edit for the others: The Pathfinder is really fun to play. They can kill other classes but their specialty is nabbing the flag and not giving it back. The perk Egocentric is very useful because you can boost yourself with the grenades or the spinfusor without losing too much health. The light spinfusor is good. It shoots faster than the others but direct hits (hard) deal only 700 damage. Most hits will be around 250-400. If you're trying to kill a heavy, unless you're a really good aim, it will take a while. I hear the bolt launcher is better though. Right now I'm using the Brute. He's a Heavy soldier. The heavy spinfusor may take long to load but direct hits will 1-shot light classes unless they have boosted their HP with upgrades. 900 for a direct, 400-800 for splash. In addition they have a pretty badass shotgun, which is useful in a few situations. Mostly for finishing off people or for killing classes flying over you. Their grenades take a few seconds to activate but they throw a laser show. They fire lasers in every direction for 5 seconds or so. Great for cleaning out rooms or denying access to a place. A I picked up a few tricks since I only play brute now. - Always get to higher ground. Light classes will fly over you. It gets really disorienting and even if you do see them, they are hard to hit in midair. - Think of your jetpack as a long jump module. Use it to hop around instead of bursting all the energy at once because you will be a sitting duck after a single flight. - If you're fighting indoors, melee is now a good option. I had a totaly lucky kill yesterday where I shot a disk right behind someone, he flew towards me and I had the reflex to swing my claw at him. It was awesome. - With the fractal grenade, focus on keeping your enemies in the killzone. They WILL die if they stay next to the grenade so instead of shooting them and running the chance of bumping them outside, wait until they try to leave and shove them right back next to the grenade.

Especially as Raider/Soldier/Tech, the dps of the SMG's are insane compared to the explosive weapons in open space. It's not particularly hard either. I went from 0 tribes experience to being pretty good at TDM based on SMG usage alone in about 2 days. I'm bad at CTF though that gametype requires a certain amount of thinking and knowledge lol.
