I know you get different character options every time you start over, but are there any gains that you can make? A lot, it's far from a classic rogue-like. You keep the money you get in the dungeon when you die, and you can use that money to buy upgrades or items. You lose the money when you enter the dungeon the next time. Your character doesn't get stronger inside the dungeon, it's all about dieing, coming back to the base, upgrading and trying the dungeon again as a stronger character.

I know you get different character options every time you start over, but are there any gains that you can make? Edit: Post above mine gives a good explanation of this too. There is like a tech tree of sorts except they upgrade your character via hp/mp/atk/magic etc. These stats are permanent. The only thing that really changes is the different character options like you said, and of course the castle resets again completely. I would say the game was a lot of fun, just got annoying later because I didn't realize that it kinda gets harder the longer it goes on so I ended up having to grind. In the end, it is just a grind, I didn't find it as engaging as other games like Binding of Isaac or even FTL. Can still be fun though.

Guess I'm definitely picking it up then.

Pretty fun game overall despite it though. Also, does every deal come back during the last day?

All equipment, runes, upgrades etc. are kept. It just randomizes the dungeon and character traits everytime you die I guess. Pretty fun game overall despite it though. Also, does every deal come back during the last day? Usually just the most popular deals.

There are people who have beaten the game with Mouse/Keyboard. But i would STRONGLY recommend a controller, i tried a few hours with m/kb, and found it extremely hard. Then got me a controller and damn it was far better to play, not that it became any easier lol still died a shit tonne. In short, IMO, you need a controller for Dark Souls.

And yes it was a shitty port, not just the controller issues at first but the locked 30 FPS is also really terrible. Thankfully, all the problems with the port can be fixed with mods pretty much.

It was made with a controller in mind though so it makes sense why it would be preferable. Not to mention it comes in handy with a bunch of other controller compatible games on Steam. A good PC controller is worth it in the long run imo. And yes it was a shitty port, not just the controller issues at first but the locked 30 FPS is also really terrible. Honestly, having access to my 360 pad is amazing these days. 90% of the time i use my M/Kb, but for every 10th game i play, ive got the controller handy, and really opens up your potential game library, since you dont have to ask yourself if you need a controller to enjoy it. Just finished Batman, used my 360 pad, was flawless. Hell i can even emulate some old Gamecube games n shit, was also playing some Smash. So yeah, 30$-40$ for a controller is an awesome investment.

Well depends what RPG your talking about, something like Zelda or Dark Souls are best on a controller, but i dont think i could play Dragon Age Origins on a controller. lol Even tho that's how i originally played it when it 1st came out since all i had was my 360.

This will sound weird to a some, but I can't ever imagine me playing Euro Truck Sim 2 or fighting games with something else than a keyboard

Same, I got one of 360 pads they make for Windows so it's already made for PC in mind. Even after I finished Dark Souls (which is why I originally got it), I ended up using it to play a lot more games like Bastion, Dust: An Elysian Tail, Mark of the Ninja, Valdis Story etc. Comes in handy if you ever use emulators as well like you said.

There's definitely some people using tokens to change team, but I can't imagine there's enough to make a team get more than three times as many points as any other team. No. But people are not stupid. You get a reward if you contributed points and your team is winning. You can save up cards. So if you want to craft something, obviously you craft it when your team is winning. And especially NOT when your team is behind. Thus the team that gets ahead gets further ahead, while the teams that fall behind save their badges and craft them when their team gets ahead a few days later. No conspiracy needed to explain that, just people acting in their own best interests.
