Expeditions: Conquistador is supposedly decent from what i've read but i dunno if thats worth 6$ for the unlock . Crossfire is as awful as Back in Action though and should be avoided like the plague on the other hand.

Unless you get frustrated easily, then you might want to stay away. ...you mean if you get easily frustrated you should pick it up and play till the end asap because it will teach you everything you need to learn for the rest of your life. :3

Its just terrible Gamedesign. The game justs wastes your time, you die to things you cannot possibly know. I played like 30min and quit. I have better things to do then waste time in this Game.

There's certainly good arguments to be made why the game isn't for everyone (as you say, you do die a lot, sometimes quite suddenly), but the game is one of the most well designed games I have ever seen. It's one of the few games where dying always feels like it's pretty much your fault, and you always know how to avoid death the next time around. And it's one of the very few big recent games that feel like an actual game, and not like an interactive story.

There is a difference between doing something silly and dying and the game randomly killing you and telling you not to that thing again despite never having told you not to do it. I never played Darksouls tho so i could be totally wrong in how it handles things.

It's beautiful. Games these days are so shitty, with hand holding, boring tasks and quests driven game play. Dark Souls is more or less open world, explore, learn, die, succeed. The satisfaction from playing and succeeding in Dark Souls is something I haven't felt in a very, very, very long time.

The camera stops working, the controls are quite obviously not designed to navigate tiny ledges while fighting enemies, and it is generally just incredibly annoying until you know exactly which way too take and which enemies to fight where. Basically, Blighttown sucks on your first playthrough, until you know where you have to go. Or if you are like me and don't find the bonfire at the bottom. Other then that, really great game. ...and then people who are just good at the game show how platforming is done (careful, spoilers, don't watch if you aren't done with the game a couple of times / intend to play it in the future). + Show Spoiler + Right after that you can see what Sen's Fortress looks like when you're more experienced. And that's the beauty of Dark Souls. The area everyone tells you to avoid at the start turns out to be the best starting area for more experienced players. Or Sen's Fortress (which is scary as fuck for the first time and I died a million times trying to slowly go through it) is suddenly super easy once you notice the patterns in which things are swinging. That's just the gameplay portion. If you're done with the game and/or don't intend to play it (again) any time soon I recommend the "Prepare to Cry" video series explaining some interpretations of the lore in detail. Most lore (and most characters you meet) in this game seems blatantly obvious and simple but becomes incredibly deep with just a few more pieces of the puzzle that are right in your face from the very beginning. That kind of game design just doesn't exist anywhere else. (massive spoilers) + Show Spoiler +

Some people just can't stand having to play through sections of the game again and again, specially when those part are fairly trivial in comparison. It's a style that definatelly isn't as common in recent games, but not all old or new challenging games are like that. There's nothing wrong with liking or disliking it.
