I went into Dark Souls saying the same thing, that it was gonna be an I Wanna Be The Guy style deathfest that is designed to punish you for no reason. I played through the asylum, made it to Firelink, encountered the graveyard, and died dozens of times. I quit.
Then I got the PC version (it was free for me) and decided to give the game another shot. I was still dying a lot, but it was increasingly clear to me that most of the deaths were my own fault. Once I realized that, I could actually adapt faster to the flow of combat and reading my enemies. Within about 2 hours I had mastered basic combat and movement, and within about 8 hours I was regularly parrying or backstabbing enemies.
There are a couple of ”gotcha” moments I can think of, like the Wyvern or the catacombs bridge or the Sen's elevator, but those are more funny than anything because they're so rare to find and you'll never die to them again.
It really is a fantastic game and there is a sense of accomplishment in beating it that really can't be understated.

Imo the smart way of playing a game like Dark Souls is to let it push you to the "fuck this, I'm quitting for real"-point and then you google / wiki the part where you're stuck at at the moment. It usually results in something among the lines of "OhmyfuckinggodhowcouldImissthat".

I actually disagree, some stuff is just bullshit. For instance, crucial save points hidden behind fake walls that someone who hasnt explicitly read about it would never find. imo use a guide.

lol I forgot about user messages! Thats very true, Pretty much everything in this game can be figured out if with a lucky user message. Do people still leave them?

Do people still leave them? When I got into it first like half a year or year ago the only place where I didn't have one was Sen's Fortress. Which resulted in one of those "FUCK THIS I'M GOOGLING"-moments. :3

There is no new DLC. Only Brave New World, which is a Full Expansion. And well I guess I will be cheaper soon. I would wait a little more. GMG starts their Sale tomorrow and they have good connections to 2K and often the best Deals for 2K Games.

Oh god, Steam autumn sale, hide yo wallets people!

Hadn't had any chance to try the new Map Pack DLC yet though

Are the Skyrim DLC's worth getting? I'm thinking about getting the game, but idk if I want to throw 12 more dollars for the DLC's.
|
I'm looking to buy Sleeping Dogs, but they will only sell me the German (censored) version ...
can someone help me out with that?
|
If you want Civ 5 BNW and don't want to wait for a daily sale, it's $8 at GameFly.

I just tried Hotspot Shield to circumvent that and it works. Steam sees me as British now and gives me the prices in Pounds. No mention of any censoring as well.

if you use vpn to get different currency pricings, youll eventually get banned on steam.
I dont recommend it.
