Assuming I'm treating the main game as a sunk cost that will never be recovered, is it even worth considering the DLC?

I know it's one of the biggest pile of shit to come out in recent years, but I still want it. Assuming I'm treating the main game as a sunk cost that will never be recovered, is it even worth considering the DLC? Never mind the cost, is it worth your time? Never realized there were actually a few DLCs that actually added missions to do rather than just aesthetic content. Are they worth picking up while they're on sale? Skip Zodiac Tournament.

It's just geniunely fun to play, since all the playing styles are viable and challenging. Unfortunately a little short, but hey. Can't get everything. I used to play a lot of hot-seat homm in the old days. Recently I tried homm 6 but either I got too old or the game is bad because it was just boring.

And of course I got ninja as well since all you fine people made me do it. But that's the last games I buy ...I swear it ... unless xcom goes below 10 bucks ... or batman ... or anno 2070 ....

You just need to ask yourself, will you play those games before Christmas or not? Btw Civ 5's community is huge haha, I always knew it was a popular franchise and it's nice to see it confirmed in numbers.

TR2013 has an amazing atmosphere, music, and story. The only thing that was lacking is that puzzles tended to be overly simplistic (not necessarily easy, but rather they tended to only involve 2-3 steps at most). That is my only complaint, and I bet they'll fix it in the sequel. What a steal for $12.

Ugh I am glad you enjoyed your expense but I feel compelled to point out, for the benefit of anyone who might be swayed by your review, that TR2013 has repetitive, simplistic combat, it doesn't actually have puzzles it just has arrows that point you in the direction all the time, it has reasonable atmosphere but NOTHING like the original Tomb Raider or the sequel. And the small things like the fast travel and the ridiculous obsession the game has with collecting 100 of any specific item are extremely grating. The game really starts to lose its luster by the 10 hr mark. That's just a counter-opinion because I don't want anyone who is like me to be swayed by your review then end up realising they wasted it. For the record, I 'obtained' the game without expense a while back and actually still consider myself ripped off purely because of the hours I spent.

It is however a rather slow paced game with a low degree of interactivity between players. Unless you want to 1v1 on a tiny map, it will feel like playing two simultaneous single player games 95% of the time - and with two people alternating turns, it will take forever to get anything done. I would never play it in hotseat myself. I would say the optimal multiplayer format for Civ 5 is a more long form PBEM-like enviornment.

mark of the ninja is very good, although you should go in expecting more of a puzzle game than a stealth game or even a platformer really.

There was a fair bit of QTE early on, but after the first few hours it went away (mostly). And it's generally pretty simple (press A, S quickly, press F at the right time, is about as complex as the QTE gets). There are honestly many games out there with far more obnoxious QTE than this. The game really starts to lose its luster by the 10 hr mark .Repetitive, yes, in the sense that most of the enemies that pop up are very similar (they throw grenades at you, shoot with rifles, or swing at you with a sword.) Simplistic? I'm not sure what you mean, but I'll agree that it's simplistic in the same way that most shooter games are (you shoot the enemy and they die). If you're talking about the regen mechanic, well, I think that a bandaid mechanic would've been a good addition to the game, but I don't think it stopped combat from being enjoyable. Specifically about combat: Aiming was very smooth, and the stealth component enjoyable. Compared to earlier TR games, where Laura aimbots her enemies, the combat in this game is vastly superior. The enemies lacked variety, which is something they could definitely work on in the sequel. But the combat itself was okay. The puzzles in the secret tombs do not have arrows as far as I know. They are, however, rather simple and usually involve less than 3 steps to solve. It was my one negative of the game. I don't think the fast travel or collecting items is a valid complaint, as neither of these are required if you just want to progress through the story. They are for those who want to collect extras. Also you are not compelled to use survival instincts. You can go through the whole game using your eyes and never see a single arrow.

Don't use hyperbole to make a point in a thread that's about giving advice to other people. It defeats the purpose of the thread.
