I dont have the latest expansions though. I think the series is good. I can see his point of view though. For $10 it's worth the chance for you I think.

The gameplay mechanics are solid, some neat tricks and flexibility with combat. The storyline is very cliche and leaves much to be desired. The voice acting is horrendous and is capable of being an immediate turnoff for many. The difficulty curve is very easy, it's only 'tough' because enemies can kill you in 1-4 hits on higher difficulty settings...but your offensive capability and defensive movement options more than make up for it. The inventory UI and design is not very good, and the crafting system is eh. Honestly, the game's alright, but it doesn't feel very fulfilling given its content. I feel it's overrated by most...still probably worth a buy if it's on a good sale.

It's a bioware RPG that has more in common with KoTOR/Baldur's Gate rather than Mass Effect, and with all the expansions included in the ultimate addition it probably has around 80 hours of game play.

I'm in the "4th Chapter", have done 4-5 side quests and it tells me "57% finished", so there are probably at least 5 chapters. You can control it with mouse+keyboard, but I'm not sure if that's best, I have trouble pulling off specials regularly (left-right-click combos). Also, I recommend to start with at least hard difficulty, that's what I went with and had no insurmountable obstacles. Worth the money imho. I see you are from Germany, too. The standard version will give you German subtitles to dialogues no matter what, so if you want English subs, you have to go to your game folder and delete all the other subtitle files (easy to find).

If you like mark of the ninja, then stealth bastard deluxe is another cheap great 2d stealth game. Less action and more stealth puzzles than motn, but it does keep you on your toes, especially if you want to get good with the items. The predecessor is freeware just called stealth bastard if you want to try it first, but the sequel is well worth it even not on sale.

Nowhere near close as good as BG2. Feels like people just completely ignore that when they talk about DA:O. I actually enjoyed DA2 a lot more just because of that. Story, world, characters, atmosphere and content are pretty good though. If you can see past the gameplay flaws its a lot of good rpg hours for only 9 bucks.

Loved the base game but never bothered with any DLCs. Never realized there were actually a few DLCs that actually added missions to do rather than just aesthetic content. Are they worth picking up while they're on sale?

I mean, it's a Bioware RPG. That should be more or less enough to tell you what you're getting, both in terms of strengths as well as flaws.
