imo witcher (enhanced edition) was more 'complete' than dragon age origins... excellent characters, story and although slightly repeatitive - the gameplay was fun. dragon age was insane story and storyteling, but the characters were so cliche and felt too 'mainstream'. not to mention the game mechanics were rushed, for example mages were best to put 100% attribute into magic stat - the other stats were obsolete... why have more mana when your cone of cold instagibs everything? plus, tanks and imba spells made the game too easy. dragon age 2 could have been an unbelievably good game, except they recycled the areas which is totally unforgivable. imagine starcraft 2 campaign if every mission was made using 'scrap station' map with slight modifications. yeah - so much for exploration and immersion which are the two most important things in RPG.

At least that's the impression I got from the videos. Are quests fun? Do you have to do talking? What RPG elements does it have? In the few reviews I watched he killed most enemies in 2 combos. Does that change by leveling up? edit: Ok, by reading the comments it seems combat isn't button smashing, but it has some thinking going on? It does require a lot of strategy on higher difficulty settings (first one). The second one is basically hard on normal. A lot of people are dying at least 20 times before the prologue is over, rofl. Half your HP can be taken in one hit so you have to be pretty good at dodging and mixing certain potions to overcome obstacles. But honestly, I think The Witcher is most known for a well written story and very immersive environments. The immersion is really what sells it. And the second one is seeming to be better at that so far.

Haven't played W2 much yet, only a bit, but it looks pretty similar to W1 in many aspects, so I'll tell from my previous experience. The game itself is kinda sum of its parts. Sure, it has nice graphics, but I would definitely say that storyline is the best part of the game. About combat - well, it is not only 2 combos. There is a whole system that evolves as your character is leveling up (there are two swords (one used on humans, one on monsters) with 3 basic styles - quick, strong, and group style. Each style at first has a seqence of 2 - 3 combos and there are more and more as you progress + so called finishers). With talents you gain you can not only add more combos, but also some special abilities to them. Not sure about W2 yet, but in W1 you had gold, silver, and bronze talents, which you could use on upgrading your character (silver and gold were limited so you had to choose your skills wisely). Apart from that there are 5 signs you can use in a battle too (it is possible to spend your talents on them). So its a tree of skills like in most of RPG's. Moreover there are is alchemy and mixtures with many cool efects that expand your witchers abilities' + a ton of other stuff not mentioned. Quest are cool (many additional ones) + your choices alter the storyline. For me W1 was a game that changed me from an adult who stopped enjoying video games long ago to a kid obsessed about playing for XX hours a day. And that should be the best recommendation. Even Sc2 had lesser impact on me than W.

I see everyone releasing a combo, rolling back, combo, rolling back, etc. I don't mean to sound insulting, just wondering what the shitty youtube reviews are missing, since everyone is so happy this game is out and I don't know why ![]() Story is amazing.

I'm going to try it out : D Adding on to what's been said, the combat system has improved by quite a bit since Witcher 1, but it's still fairly average. If you need fun battles to keep you interested in a game/if you got bored with other Western RPGs with less than spectacular combat like Oblivion or Fallout 3, I wouldn't recommend either of the Witcher titles. If you like interesting characters, settings, and plots though, you're in for a treat.

Sure I can mash my left mousebutten and win, but that is kinda pointless and reminds me of Assassins Creed. Enemies typically swipe at you when you are in range of their weapons. Try parrying as you come into range and just keep the button pressed until the enemy attacks. You will eventually encounter enemies whose attacks you will either need to parry or dodge around before landing a blow so try to learn now. Though of course you can just run around and use Igni until everything has become ash. One other tip: try casting Quen before engaging tough enemies. When they attack, they will do less/no damage and they will be open to counterattacks.

I don't want to say that it is the best RPG game I ever played but it certainly has the coolest combat mechanics. And also, 1080p, high all, übersampling on, i couldnt get any higher than 22fps. phenom ii x6 1090t @ 4.2 zotac 480gtx amp 2000mhz 4x2gb cl9 asus crosshair iv formula

unless u want to do some digging urself **Edit 1/2** quiet spell at work, here's a link to the drivers from Nvidia's website http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook-win7-winvista-64bit-275.27-beta-driver.html The Witcher 2 – Improved 3D Vision compatibility for all in-game effects The only thing mentioned specifically for the witcher2, however people are reporting smoother fps and better performance with these new drivers.

I'm so FULL on crafting materials, but i don't want to drop anything. I'm in the second town area at the moment. When you guys find the snare, you should use it. It's so awesome, and you can re-use it.
