There is hardly anything of substance to recommend this train wreck to a discerning connoisseur of RPGs. Every element of its design can be described as 'embarassingly awkward.' Animation, art direction, dialogue, writing, combat. It's a list of sad mediocrities as long as your arm. The fact of the setting and characters being a shameless copy of Michael **** classic Elric of Melniboné series aside, the game itself behaves like a confused child. Does it want to be a brawler with peripheral RPG elements? Or an action RPG with brawler combat? In either situation the designers have failed to deliver on both satisfying combat or a compelling story that ever rises above the juvenile. Look to the masters at BioWare with their latest RPG epic, Dragon Age 2, for inspiration in your future games, CD Project. You certainly won't find it making shallow sex simulators based on plagiarized fantasy novels Granted could be a troll but the grammar and spelling indicates it might not be, funny tough since he gave DA2 a 10/10. Anyway i am hyped for the game That's a bit saddening, if it really was written by a Bioware employee.. Anyway downloading the game now, legally of course. My dad want it more than me though but I'm not sure it'll run on his computer. 3800+ amd single core, what do you think?
nah, that is too slow for witcher 2. however, game looks extremely amazing, so system requirements arent really surprising.

Combat seems sort of unresponsive for me, I'll cast Aard and want to run up and slash the stunned guy in the face but it has like a second lag after casting where Geralt just stands there. Blocking also seems to take some time and same with rolling. I dunno, not loving the new combat system so far. I've been managing to get by on hard by using axii a ton and rolling around but it seems pretty stupid.

Downloading from Seattle @600kb/s - 6h left ~.~ Time to study... for now!

Just installed this bad boy (bought a box version PL). I've got a problem, I don't see any choices when there is an opportunity to choose an answer (There is just no text, I still can choose "something"). Anyone else got that problem? FIXED: You need to rename the game directory (cannot have any special non-english characters, I have polish version and used some letters that shouldnt be used)
First minute impression - this game kicks ass.

You need to use a light attack, if you use a heavy you won't get there in time before he recovers

At least you can run the game. Both times I've launched it I get BSOD. LOL.

Do you recommend playing the first one before you play the Witcher 2? Or is it enough to have read the plot summary that can be found at for example wikipedia?
And does the load save from game 1 have as much impact as say in the ME games?
Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Anyone mind explaining the hype of this game for me? I watched a bunch of videos and thought graphically it looks very good, the combat seems pretty dull. I see everyone releasing a combo, rolling back, combo, rolling back, etc.
I don't mean to sound insulting, just wondering what the shitty youtube reviews are missing, since everyone is so happy this game is out and I don't know why

Gone will be the days where we can walk into someones house, loot the place, and walk away like nothing happened.

Maybe I'm dumb but I can't figure out how to use potions in the beginning of the game. I have them in my inventory but I can't use them from there and I can't equip them anywhere.
|
You need to hold down ctrl and meditate to drink potions by clicking the middle, between your signs and your quick bar stuff
Combat is hard at least in the beginning. Enemies do like 200% more damage from behind. My suggestion is to roll around a lot and pick off weak guys when you can, then block/attack/block against the bigger dudes. Aard really sucks in this too so far

After an hour of playing I need to go to work (F%$#). Gotta say that graphics are amazing (1 act (?) scenery is awesome), although I thought the game will run smoother than it does. I have like 25-30 avg on min details, even droping below that sometimes. My computer is not the best (2.66 Core duo, 3GB RAM, XP, 450GTS - recently bought), but would expect more than that.
I'll probably have to lower the resolution down

the developer didnt jump (at least not as much) on the console kid bandwagon, as bioware and square. this game is darker, less forgiving and less linear than nearly all other current rpgs.
didnt play much yet, but at least that is what i expect, if it is anywhere near the witcher 1.

I didn't play The Witcher one, but from the videos it doesn't look like a RPG at all. More like a slower paced God of War (not to sound insulting again, sorry!) At least that's the impression I got from the videos. Are quests fun? Do you have to do talking? What RPG elements does it have? In the few reviews I watched he killed most enemies in 2 combos. Does that change by leveling up?
edit: Ok, by reading the comments it seems combat isn't button smashing, but it has some thinking going on?

Ah I'll try that once I get home from work. Also, I've looked around and seen a lot of people seem to have the same issues with parry whereas others don't have the issue, not sure if some people are bugged or whats up. Loving the game besides those issues though, I managed to get into the middle of Flotsam before I had to leave for work, can't wait to get back home.

How big is the download? SC2 streaming and big downloads make me hit my download cap really quickly.
