Has anyone tried pvp as the vengeance guys who kill people in the book of the guilty? Specifically I want to know if you can invade anyone in the book, regardless of level/server/etc... Does the book only list online people? How easy is it to get invasions going with this convenant?

Because I am in the forest near the Sith wolf and joining that covenant will help me run through the forest without facing the crazy forest protectors. Also since I already rang the 2nd Bell, should I just go to Sen' Fortress and press on to Anor Londo or should I kill the wolf first? Only 1 covenant at the time. There's an easy path through the forest where you bypass all of the forest protectors, start by hugging the right side then run towards the lights. You need to kill Sif to complete the game, but you don't need to until later (you can do anor londo and 3 more bosses, but then you need the ring from Sif).

I wouldn't call NG "fast-paced annoyance". Figuring out what the bosses do, what you need to do, and then having the execution to pull it off was extremely challenging. Hell even the regular enemies were tough in that game. I agree it's a lot more fast-paced challenge than Dark Souls, but that doesn't mean NG didn't have a careful-methodical part to it either. A huge portion of the game is simultaneously avoiding getting hurt (through blocking, rolling, jumping, wall-climbing etc) while you wait for your opening. So far I've been disappointed by Dark Souls challenge. A friend of mine told me if I thought NG was difficult I should try this. Eh. I'm only a few hours in but I cannot say I feel challenged. I also don't feel much interest in putting in a lot of time into the game either. Since I paid $60 for it, I'll finish it eventually I guess. Hopefully I can enjoy it more.

I'm interested in what games you find difficult then...if you think this game is easy on the first playthrough (assuming you went in blind). I've beaten pretty much every "difficult" game in the new gen and would definitely put this in the top tier. It's much easier after the first time through but I died a similar amount to Master Ninja in NG finishing it the first time.

And yes, I am playing it without walkthroughs, guides, etc. Hell I still don't know what a bunch of stuff does. It's very rare that I consider a game extremely challenging - especially with modern games. If we're talking strictly from single player (so not including SC and the likes), the Ninja Gaiden series are the only modern games I considered challenging. Ninja Gaiden on the "normal" difficulty level still is far more difficult than any other game I've played lately (you don't need to put the difficulty up to Master Ninja to have a challenge). Oh yea, and Contra: Hard Corps (XBL/PS3 download) is pretty difficult as well. As for older challenging games: Contra, Mega Man and Battletoads are up there in difficulty.

I didnt think normal NG was anywhere near as hard as dark souls which is why I compared it to master ninja. But I'm very impatient when it comes to games...I alway charge in and play agressively so games which take patience and timing such as this one take me a longer time to pick up. Also it is a 30-40 hour game and keeps a constant difficulty through the whole thing which is quite impressive imo.

I dont think it works that way. I read it was based on a criteria like they have several "realm-like" servers and it looks for someone in your realm first... then if it cant find them it branches out. You could probably go hours without catching up with your friend. This isn't a co-op with your buddies type of game, but it IS co-op
