Is there any difference in attacks, or equipment they can wear, or skills they can learn? The progression seems pretty nonlinear. lol just wanna comment when i first touch demon souls. thought game was gonna be like d2-ish with more co-op partying system so my first character in these type of games/mmo's i always go healer type characters first (priest). man was i surprised when i got dark silver set+meat cleaver/LSoM. my dude looked like hakumen but yea almost any of the characters can progress the same way/learn the same spells/use teh same equipment more or less

Go to a bonfire and attune magic. Put a fire spell in the slot. Then equip a fire catalyst (should be a weapon that's just a red hand with a flame in it). For miracles you need a talisman, and for regular magic you need a regular catalyst.

Just got done beating the final boss, and that was an awesome fight. Sure, he's not terribly unique or gimmicky, but it is definitely the culmination of everything you've learned and all the skills you've built up through out the game. Some friends came over to record a podcast when I was doing attempts, and I finally said 'ok, last shot and then I'm turning the ps3 off.' And that was the kill shot with 3 big parries. Was wearing full Havel's and +2 Dragon Tooth. As soon as I got through the gate I would cast the Power Within pyromancy (wrong name I think?), switch weapons, and back up to avoid the first hit, and then each parry was doing around 1300 damage. The timing on the parries is a bitch to figure out though. If you're having trouble though, just anticipate the attack. It's hard to react to, but he's so aggressive that you can figure out when the next attack cycle is coming so you can just hit L2 a half second or so after he's done attacking and you should catch him. Edit: Glad it wasn't as easy as the last boss of Demon's Souls. On the topic though, the fight reminded me of false king a bit.

Did you do the bad ending or good one. (Lightning the fire is the good one. Which is against canon). Just curious :D

Didn't really make a whole lot of sense to me. + Show Spoiler + After I beat him I wanted to go back and make the sword using his soul, so I just walked out and got the bad ending :-( Was kind of upset, so I kept playing through to the Undead Parish again - not sure if I really want to play through the whole thing again, but would like to do the good ending >.> And yeah, the fight does remind me a bit of False King -- nothing crazy, just a buff as hell human. I beat him straight up after three tries, I think -- Greatshield of Artorias helps a lot, just block, attack when he's comboing or after he tries to grab you, and walk or roll back from the grabs.

You will get the soul of the dude you kill last as well as the chance to buy his armour from the merchant near the Firelink Shrine aqueduct. Its not a difficult fight once you understand the reason why From Software put all of those pillars across the room. Neither of the two can really attack through the pillars and neither can attack through each other. So you want to abuse the pillars and try and position them like this: You --------- Smough ---------- Ornstein Since they can't attack through pillars, you drink your flasks behind them. If you are having trouble, kindle the closest bonfire to 20 flasks. Also upgrade your weapons and shield if you haven't already. The increased shield stability makes sure Smough can't stagger you with a single hit and obviously you want to kill them as fast as possible. Alternatively, just use the lightning spear since its by far the best weapon you can pick up at that point and Smough is weak against lighting. The 2nd form is much easier. Smough fights exactly the same except all of his attacks do electric damage (so blocking will not negate all damage) and his buttstomp attack now has a huge lightning AOE effect which you want to dodge at all costs; Ornstein is a lot larger, has a weak buttstomp move, and has an impale move but because he is so large, so long as you stay between his legs and close to his butt, he can't hit you. A lot of the boss fights in this game aren't too difficult if you aren't afraid to get close to the bosses - Sif, for instance, can be beaten easily, without any flasks, if you have a good enough shield. The levels in the late game are much more difficult (and in the case of Tomb of the Giants, pretty much bullshit).

Piercing swords, Uchigatana, Iaito are all good choices. Just take a look at the weapon list. http://darksoulswiki.wikispaces.com/Weapons In the Japanese PvP video posted on page 23, you can see his stats. Soul Level 97, he has 20 Strength and 22 Dexterity, 40 Vitality and 40 Endurance. Neither "damage" stats are considered high. What matters most is the weapon you use, based on its speed, damage, upgrades you want to pursue, and the set of moves the weapon utilizes. @9:55, owwwww Some more videos on the sidebar.

Mace is so awful for PvP. Wish they actually gave some love to blunt weapons...a warhammer would have been nice too :[

1. How powerful do you feel? 2. What is the general rotation you use for the most common enemies? 3. Is it viable? Thanks, i might reroll.

Thanks, i might reroll. About as powerful as any other class. Hit it with a lightning spear or dragon tooth until it dies. Very. (= The classes aren't too drastically different. The starter Pyro spell is kind of nice in the very beginning, but it only has 8 charges. The biggest benefit to starting out with a Pyro is just the low slvl.
