It depends... are you really good at FPS games? I play half with a squad and half soloing, and I still have a blast. Not to brag, but part of the reason I have fun is that I can pull off 3 on 1 situations and still have a good K/D soloing. If I just constantly died, soloing wouldn't be fun. Also to solo, you need to be good at finding a fight. When you are with a squad or platoon, you bring the fight. If you are soloing, you need to be very active with the map, instant action, redeploy, and vehicles to find fights quickly. Or, just always go to the Crown... But to answer your questions, soloing is still really fun | ||

Definitely playable by your lonesome but the learning curve will be way higher, and you won't enjoy the game to it's full potential as the game is basically a never ending war, and group tactics are pretty damn important in war. | ||

You don't need to be in a pre-made to be in a functional group. There's always at least one mass swarm for each team going around the map killing everything in sight. If you like that kind of thing, you can join them. Otherwise you can drive around a Sunderer and plant a respawn where you want to attack, and people on your team will naturally spawn there and attack the nearest objective. | ||

I can see how being in a good squad would be awesome, but I love just "following the caravan". If you like sniping then you can really go lone ranger and just mess with people. Edit: O, and by the way, you know this is free, right? Just jump in and see what you think! | ||

Your best bet is r/planetside, there was no announcment of the x3 deal it was just found in the game files. | ||

There is always The Crown A place where action never stops, 3 sides collide. Good place for solos who just want some epic action or to farm some certs, you'll find it at the Crown. | ||

Just run around with the zerg and kill shit is probably the best way to get action though. Biolabs are also a good bet, and naturally crossroads/the crown always have a fight. | ||
