Is smithing viable for gear or is it just kind of like ok-ish gear to have in the start and then fades out in comparison to the gear you get from drops?

From what I've seen from it so far (watched I guess about 3 or 4 hours of streaming footage of it) it looks like Oblivion with only really minor improvements in graphics (a few more polygons here, more shiny there), which shouldn't be a surprise, since it's running on the same engine, is developed for the same target systems (PS3 and 360), and was largely developed by the same core people who worked on Oblivion. That is of course only a statement about the graphics, which (imo) is the least important thing in a game (gameplay>sound>aesthetics>graphics). The aesthetics of the game actually look pretty nice. I like the darker color toning a lot more, although this might be a side effect of the bad stream quality. Either way, the skin of Orcs doesn't have a puke-y color anymore, which is a plus ![]() I thought the engine was completely new? At least that's what the developer states in the 3 part demo video on the Bethesda blog. He also states the engine is better looking and faster running than that of Oblivion (whatever that means).

I think skyrim looks way better than oblivion, yea the xbox360 version looks sucky compared to pc but what'd you expect, its basicly a pc from 2005.

It looks like crap compared to other xbox games that actually seemed to have effort put into it. Rage was 20 gigs or so, Skyrim is less than 4 gigs. Rage was quite a good looking game.. Skyrim, nah. Obviously, form your own opinions. I'm not the king of this thread declaring that you people follow my will and not buy the game. I'm just saying don't get your hopes up too high. Why do you keep mentioning the size on disk as a disappointment? How is that in any way relevant? Would you feel better if they left everything uncompressed and shipped it on six disks or something?

I played Oblivion a few hours or so worth, never finished it. Thought it was meh. Interesting, I'm just the opposite XD. But ultimately, the reason I didn't like Fallout 3 was just the scenery compared to the other elder scrolls games. Lush Land > Dry Land. Then again, it seems like I am in the minority so I don't blame you =P. Bethesda still a a great studio regardless.

I tried Deus Ex and Rage recently on my Xbox and the graphics for those two games were much much better than Skyrim. Also, playing Witcher 2 and Rift with ultra settings on my pc definitely did not help, as it just made Skyrim look like crap. Once again, this is the xbox version (which is less than 4 gigs). It played exactly like Oblivion, looked exactly like Oblivion, and I could swear I was playing Oblivion. So, if you liked Oblivion, I imagine you'll love Skyrim. I realize I did not play very long... so, I'd take my review with a grain of salt. I'd highly recommend trying a demo or something before investing your hard earned dollars in this game. I intentionally got it for my jtag to see if I might like it or not, and if I did, I would purchase it for the PC. I will not be purchasing it or playing it further. tldr; if you liked Oblivion, you'll like Skyrim. If you're expecting a new and amazing game like no other, I wouldn't get your hopes up. Your big time troll sorry and full of bs. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH OBLIVION. i rly doubht u played at all. for instance the leveling - looting system is different. the quests are different The graphics and the art style is total different ( oblvion hada european landscape feeling , this one has mountains , green large areas more castles etc much more variation) Oblivion didnt had dual wield , 1h + spells or both hand spells , let alone all the perks. i dont know what to say apart ur prolly a hater and you like trolling others your lost all credibility ps bestheda repeatedly stated the pc version will have better graphics - models higher resolution so wait and see. ps2 for xbox it looks great . also it is common knowledge that you play tes games for the art style and gameplay not for the state of the art graphics .

I thought the exact same thing, don't know why a game who takes 10% of your HD should be better, it seems so irrevelant to me. Anyway, I read something about jobs and other activities not being real skills, (except for smithing I guess) such as cooking, woodcutting and some other stuff a little while ago. So question is, is there any leaks about this yet ? Can't really find anything "recent" for now.

I knew I was in for a load of disappointment when the size of the game was .... 3.66 GB. Granted, this is the xbox version, but I remember reading that the games were the same versions ... so, good luck everyone~ Reallly noobish question coming from somone who's never dealt with pirated games or different versions, but is it possible that the pirated version is of a lesser quality than the released version, or is that just impossible?

+ Show Spoiler + One of the things said is "Yes, really 12 hours you only crack the first layer of the game and really I only stuck around the first 3 cities you go to." Now consider skyrim has 350 areas to explore ... Also this guy did mostly main queting not secondary off quests you rly cant have an opinion of how a game is in 20 mins , esp of this magnitude.
