What exactly is the leveling system like? If there's a link or something with it plainly written I'd be just as willing to look at that, I just feel kind of in the dark about the leveling system. I understand it's not like oblivion's which is nice, but in what ways it is similar to fallout, and where does it differ?
here you go:
Leveling

you cannot pirate games because they have DRM?

Lol DRM has never stopped anyone it's only made the pirating process more complicated, by no means has it stopped piracy.

Then all you need to do is flash your console so it can read burnt DVDs, burn the ISO on a DVD, and play. That's for Xbox at least.
I'm getting it on computer. I will be buying it, but yeah, it'll be cracked too. It's more easily accessible for computer since you just download a cracked game. There's no need to do something like flashing your Xbox which is a bit complex (and MS is cracking down on that, too).

People don't know how to read here... it's different thing leaking and cracking. Skyrim will be cracked shortly after the game is released, nobody denied that. But it won't get leaked day earilier or so.
That's because even if you get CD of a game sooner or preload from steam you get encrypted files. And decrypting starts when game is released. You can't decrypt whole game faster than it comes out.
Thus -> PC version will not get leaked!

in skyrim there are no minor and major skills, just skills, and you level up by leveling them up as you go through the game. skills have different values for your level, but they mostly have to do with your "expertise" in the skill, i.e. leveling a skill from 79 to 80 benefits your level up more than a skill being leveled from 19 to 20. that's why there's no classes anymore in skyrim, because there is no forced focus. you just do what you enjoy doing, and you can change up things on a whim. it's expected that you end up gravitating towards certain skills but you don't have to like you used to
edit: forgot to add that when you level up in skyrim, you select between either boosting your magicka (which is basically mana), your hit points, or your stamina (which is used for running, strong attacks and a couple other things i might not know about). you also get to add 1 perk point to a skill of your choice. this is what makes skyrim still have pseudo-major skills and pseudo-minor skills, because if you want the sweet perks in a skill, you'll focus on leveling that, and the reason i feel it makes it a cleaner game when it comes to leveling is you don't worry about nonsense minor skills that you actually don't care about just to improve efficiently. So hardcore gamers could potentially have a perfect characters with 100 at all stats ? Or am I missing something ? According to here, there is a soft cap at level 50 where it is much harder to raise your skills. But apparently you can continue to get 100 with all skills eventually (capping the max level around 70).
However it notes that while you can level all skills, you can never get more than around 70 perks out of the 280 in the game, since you get one perk per level. From what I can tell, perks matter a lot so any given character will still be very specialized at max level.

it's not like that's the only way a game can get cracked ... . We've had games on PC that got leaked a few days before they came out. Not that I"m saying it will happen with Skyrim, but it might

I played it for maybe 20 minutes on my xbox yesterday. I found it to be pretty horribad. I knew I was in for a load of disappointment when the size of the game was .... 3.66 GB. Granted, this is the xbox version, but I remember reading that the games were the same versions ... so, good luck everyone~

oh and to put my opinion in perspective.. I played Fallout 3 from beginning to end, loved it. I played Oblivion a few hours or so worth, never finished it. Thought it was meh. Skyrim just seemed to be a complete copy of Oblivion.

Seriously, i want to be able to finalize my character so i can start playing as soon as the game comes out. Your wish is my command... Skill trees: http://www.reddit.com/r/skyrim/comments/lzl70/skyrim_skill_trees/Racial features: + Show Spoiler +Argonian: natural resistance to diseases, breathe underwater, call upon Histskins to regenerate hp quickly.
Breton: quick and perceptive grasp of spellcraft, boost resistance to magic, can call upon dragonskin power to absorb spells.
Dark Elf: noted for stealth and magic skills, naturally resistant to fire, can call upon their Ancestor's Wrath to surround themselves in fire
High Elf: strongly gifted in arcane arts of all the races, can call upon their Highborn power to regenerate Magicka quickly
Imperial: skilled with combat and magic, get more money when they find gold, can call upon the voice of the emperor to calm an enemy
Khajit: intelligent, quick, agile, good theives due to natural stealthiness. can see in the dark at will and have unarmed claw attacks.
Nord: resistance to cold and "famous as talent as warriors?". can use a battlecry to make opponents flee.
Orc: smiths are prized for their craftsmanship, heavy armor orcs are among the finest in the empire, and are fearsome when using their berserker rage.
Redguard: most naturally talented warriors, have a hardly constitution and a natural resistance to poison. They can call upon an Adrenaline Rush in combat. (we're playing as a Redguard)
Wood Elf: make good scouts and thieves, no finer archers. Natural resistance to both poisons and diseases. They can control animals to fight for them. And seriously guys, this consoles vs pc talk is getting annoying. IMO, consoles are for convenience, and PCs are for customization and better performance/graphics. Playing on consoles is a very respectable decision, as not everyone has the patience and/or money to build their own PC or mod the game. If you have fun in the game, PC or console, then that's all that matters. Just quoting myself for a more comprehensive link to racial characteristics: http://www.reddit.com/r/skyrim/comments/m0e2a/complete_list_of_skyrim_race_differences/

What did or didn't you like about it? How did it look? For having only played the game for 20 minutes, "horribad" is a pretty harsh review. 0_o

yay thank you eviltomahawk, that's pretty cool.

So i'm thinking either Bosmer or Khajiit for the Archer I want to make. Thoughts?
|
I'd not look at the bonus skills but mainly at the passive/active skills birth imo, since well it doesn't really matter cuz the cap remains 100. But yea Bosmer for an Archer seems nice.
Edit : I think I'll just go for an Imperial for my thief/assassin play style, don't wanna be a beast (sounds kinda racist I know lol).

Yeah I was thinking Khajiit all the way til I got to Bosmer.

http://www.gameanyone.com/video/358609 Playthrough of the game, starting at the very start, with commentary, decent quality and atleast a better player than the other nabs ive seen play so far. Been watching the first 1.5 hour so far, including the epic golden claw quest(lol).

I was wondering how modding would work with Steam. I love Valve and Bethesda but I want to enjoy mods as well.
Will I have to pirate the game to get mods?
