I like absorb health on my weapon personally. Never have to use potions anymore, although it's also kinda annoying to recharge.

You have to kill a dragon priest towards the end of the mage guild quest which can be painful if you do not have any shock resistance equip+potion ready. You might even just die from the bone dragon at the beginning of the Labyrinthian. Thief guild rewards you with a pretty good set of light armor towards the end but is scaled towards your level: so you might want to save that for when your level is high to get the best version. Dark brotherhood quests are pretty easy and the "standard issue" gear is very good if you play an assassin type character with sneak (double backstab damage gloves, muffled boots, 35% easier sneak hood: at the end of the whole chain you also get 20k septims as a reward). Okay, thank you very much.

In this case I suppose elemental enchants on weapons might offer the highest dps boost? The absorb effect really annoys me: I dislike the screen flash every hit so I have been staying away from them. I am putting a lot of restrains on myself so I do not become overpowered making the game too easy even on master difficulty. Atm I am using dragonbane+skyforge steel sword with 1s soul drain. I only charge up the dragonbane when I am actually killing a dragon as its charges deplete fully in ~20 hits.

Forgot to mention that the companion filler quest in the middle is somewhat random. I have gotten one where all I had to do is take part in a fist fight, and I have also gotten one on another character where I have to clear this cave full of vampires that drains my health faster than I can damage them at low levels.

If you don't want to have a hard time with mobs / dungeons then it is imperative that you level up your combat skills equally with other skills. If you just level crafting skills and then hit level 30 and still have beginner skill perks for your weapon / magic stuff, you're in big trouble when level 30 mobs start beating on you. The perks for battle skills are huge bonuses that make a difference. By level 12 on this Red Guard character I have a +60% damage to One Hand and +60% damage with Archery, plus my Heavy Armor is 65% stronger. Not to mention having a good block as well. Keep in mind that I don't have any crafting skill perks with this particular character, but I will start to mix them in now that I have a solid set of combat skills to handle enemies.

Soul Drain on weapon is annoying too because if you ever run out of smaller soul gems you'll have to drop all the grand soul gems you have crappy souls in. I always just use the spell seeing as I need conjuration levels anyways ^_^ I do have a weapon with soul trap on it though, although I've never used it. Filling greater soul gems with lesser souls isn't as bad cause you'll probably waste them leveling enchanting anyways, but grand soul gems fill up a weapon all the way so they're pretty awesome.

Keep in mind that the game does adjust itself to your level, albeit not as radically as Oblivion did. I think the main culprit would be speech and lockpicking (and sneak on non-sneak characters) as well as restoration, plus random skill up books in dungeons. In my most recent play through that rushed through the main quest I was able to get 80 one handed skill ~level 15 and was able to burst through almost anything in master dual wielding (dragonbane and skyforge steel sword). I would argue that for physical dps characters smithing is superior to combat skill gains. Smithing increases both damage and defenses (via new equipment and very strong upgrades). No need to "grind" it even though it is the easiest profession to max: unless you want to exploit the game 60 smithing for arcnae blacksmith is good enough imo: you can buy some very sweet gear from merchants: such as a pair of eminent wielding gloves that gives +30% weapon damage, or squire/knight items that gives a bonus to armor skill. Magicka reduction via enchants is ever so important to destruction pure mages (unless you like to drink potion after every cast and go out of mana in just 5 spells), though the real boost comes from alchemy since that is the only thing which can boost your damage.

A lot of people complained about the update breaking their game so I am going to wait for the real patch this Wednesday.

But this game is just endless. My only wish was that you could do Co-op with friends. That would be so awesome. I've almost always played multi-player, so after awhile it gets lonely playing just by myself.

I quit playing my first character kinda early on so that I could start over on master difficulty and play the game "naturally" (like no cheap exploits to power level a certain skill, no save/load for pickpocketing, no looking stuff up like what certain alchemy ingredients do, etc). So the thing is, I just don't have a ton of time to play skyrim and I wanna be sure that the build I'm going for isn't terrible. The skills I'm leveling up right now are 1hand, block, heavy armor, alteration, restoration. I've had to choose health every time I level up so far, but I'm not sure how to distribute between health/stamina/magicka in the future. I'm thinking I can eventually focus on leveling up sneak and use a dagger and I'll already have a very nice 1hand skill to go with it. And in the far future, eventually level up the crafting skills to make the most powerful gear. But atm I'm avoiding any skill that doesn't help me in combat. Is this gonna work out? I don't really want a bunch of tips or a guide or a whole build, but rather I just want to know if my build will be good enough to work, and if not, what are the least amount of changes I need to make it viable. Thanks!

But since you're playing on masters, keep in mind that you will need to use health potions. Simple as that. edit: The ratio I used for Health/Stamina was 1:1 until I felt that I could finish most fights with a little stamina left over..but I had some boosted stamina regeneration. However, I was a pure Sneak, One-Handed, Light Armor (with 2 perks in Lockpicking to not get detected), so maybe you should do a 3:2 or 5:4 Health/Stamina ratio. Since you're playing on PC (I would assume), you could always use console commands to redistribute your max health and stamina.
