ok people keep tellling me "that spell looks dangerous, keep your distance". in my "active effects tab i have a flame thrall and the dark brotherhood summon listed, but they are not following me; summoned a second flame thrall now i have 2 listed. long story short, how can i remove them permanently?
ok just checked, and it seems as if 1 flame thrall and the spectral asassin are stuck in that list, and people do not like that. question still stands: how can i get rid of them ^^
edit: a dragon just attacked INSIDE solitude, 70 hours played and that just happened the first time.

Dunno either. Seems like more than 100h of gameplay in a singleplayer game for 50€ isn't enough for people just because there's Elder Scroll writen on it.
Everyday i tell myself to finish the dragon masks quest, but each time i get distracted by other things that appear during the road. TT

Its intentional, just random.

LOL I can't stop laughing reading that Christwire article lolol

I had a Blood Dragon land on the College of Mages as I was doing part of their quest chain, specifically the part right after the eye knocks you out and the arcane wyrms start attacking. It didn't break the quest, but it sure did disrupt it, as I hadn't a clue what to do next for a good 15 minutes or so.
On another note, that dragon went down QUICK!, but then again, I'm not surprised with the number of mages beating on it.

question about a potential quest line I may have missed.
+ Show Spoiler +when you're doing the quest to recover the elven blood for that nut case north of WInterhold and the dark void reveals himself to you what happens if you accept to be his servent? I told him I wanted nothing to do with it and now apparently he's gone for good. Did I miss a quest line?

Okay I just got this game since I was going to the countryside for a couple weeks and would be mostly without reliable internet. I've played a couple hours as a mage and am up to finding the golden claw and have also gone to whiterun to ask for reinforcements. I'm feeling quite underwhelmed so far. I am still level 1 and do not know if that is normal progress. I've done one or two sidequests but haven't upgraded my armor or spells.
A few questions I can think of:
1) Is there a class that is particularly beginner friendly? I don't want pure hack and slash but at the moment all I do as a mage is walk up to the person and spam fire. It feels rather...plain.
2) What should I do to upgrade gear? Is it as simple as farming gold from quests to buy better gear? When do I get my first 'upgrade'?
Any other tips to enjoy the maximum out of the game would be appreciated.

I think the best class for "beginners" has got to be the Red Guard. You get starting bonuses to Destruction, One-handed, Block and Archery. This will allow you to roll a standard One-Hand Wielder with a shield and use a bow for distance attacks.
The bonus to Destruction will help you dabble in magic to get used to it, but it's not a requirement. At level 10, with a companion I've been able to take down trolls, dragons and anything I've encountered thus far no problem.
On the opposite side, with my Battle Mage that I rolled I've had serious problems with trolls and dragons at a similar level.
As for gear, it will generally progress as you level. Try to save your gold as much as possible and rely on dungeons and quest rewards for nicer gear. Merchants really rip you off when it comes to buying nice stuff in the beginning of the game.
Highly recommend Red Guard and using dungeons / quests to find gear. The game guides you quite naturally to Whiterun, a major city in the game with lots of quests including your primary quest. You'll get some good stuff here.

I've had two Dragons in the courtyard of the College, don't think they managed to kill anyone before they went down though. By the way, did anyone notice how weird the physics are on Dragon skeletons/corpses? Once the skeleton is there, try shooting and ice spike or firebolt into it, it flies for miles and all the on-watching NPCs will try to follow it.

How long does it take to get to lvl 10?

I did it rather quickly the second time around with my Red Guard. It all depends on your character and style of play. If you like dungeons and combat alot, you will level fast. In addition, there are some secret perks I discovered that allow you to level faster (if you so choose) that I will not spoil on here. I wouldn't focus on trying to level, just let it happen. The game adjusts itself to your level (creature strength) regardless so it shouldn't affect your enjoyment much.

My first char (a glass cannon mage) took about a week to get lvl 20, where I felt pretty powerful and finished the main quest line. My second char I started yesterday and is already level 20. It depends quite a bit on how you play the game.

What you get by doing that quest: + Show Spoiler +If you become his servant you will do a quest and then get like a superbook. It's like one where you level up a skill, but you level up alot of them instead. I haven't noticed anything bad from it at all ^^

+ Show Spoiler +You missed nothing. Whether you agree to be his "servant" or not, he tells you you don't have any choice in the matter, and the quest ends. You never see "him" again, either way.

I suggest investing into smithing and enchanting early on. Its quite worth the time and gets you some OP gear you can't buy anywhere else.
