I was at lvl 20 when I fought Morokei for the Staff of Magnus. For about an hour I tried to kill him in the regular/honest/fair/expected way with my mage spells, somewhat decent dodging without exploiting the AI/path and having Lydia chop him up close. Both me and Lydia get two shotted by the guy's lightning attack. At first I tried various potion combinations whilst trying to keep the fight fair (as in not exploiting the AI) but it was basicly impossible with the amount of health and damage Morokei dealt. I got him to maybe 75% before my mana ran out. So, after trying honestly and fairly for an hour, I decided to heck with it and equipped my Skysteel 2h sword with flame enchant. I was going to hack him down at close range and see how that would fare, if it all. I decided to interrupt the last wizard that binds Morokei only when I was next to Morokei so I could start hacking away at him straight away, I would ignore the wizard himself. And Morokei was down in about 10 hits and never attacked me. His AI somehow just bugged out and he only tried walking/running away whilst his HP was getting chopped to bits. Easiest fight ever and I got the staff no problem. Still, at the same time, when I tried to fight him fairly, I stood no chance. Difficulty wasn't the issue, it was how fighting the boss fairly is impossible and fighting him unfairly is way too easy. They need to fix that kind of thing so that fighting a boss on even ground is hard but not impossible (no 2-shotting me and having 2k+ HP himself) and that the AI can't be exploited as much. Other than that the whole questline was pretty epic. + Show Spoiler + i had the same problem as you but i finaly managed to get away with using the poisons i had collected on my conjured weps (he kept turning my on conjurations against me so that didnt work). every time my slowtime shout was up i would race in and deal as much damage as i could then drop out of his line of sight as it ended. i used my sprint shout when i was getting in a bad position. and i used berserk for my first slowtime which let me get some extra hits in because of it halfing the damage. oh i also had a -20% storm dmg that i picked up which let me get some more dmg in at the start. it was tough but i considered it fair. probably one of the most epic battles i had i think

Made a new one now, rogue and fully ignoring smithing (ill enchant a few things but not overdo it). Will be fun to see how it plays out. Still easy, if you understand how Sneak works. Yet, a lot more fun IMO. At least you won't have super high dmg weapon/armor. Still very possible to die especially on Master (speaking from experience).

Playing a rogue now without any smithing or enchanting, only using shop weapons and drops. I must say the game just became infinity times better and more fun. Enchanting and smithing is so broken it's not even fun, masters difficulty just becomes a joke with both, without it's at least a decent challenge, especially the boss fights.

I'm trying to spring my trap by kiting a group of bandits over the floor-trigger to make the spiky wall swing into them, and she, despite being told to sit and stay, rushes to help me, and triggers the wall. Argh >_<

Everything I've tried so far ends up being "you take no damage, or you're fucking dead" after you get the required perks. After you get stagger with a mage, you either take no damage or you get 2 shot. After you get block smash with anything-that-can-block-be-it-a-one-hander + shield-or-two-hander you either take almost no damage, or you die. It's not even a "glitch the terrain and and abuse giant flaws in stealth" thing for most fights. And for a few fights, like Morekai (unless you wait till higher to do him), he WILL kill you if you don't abuse things. he just flat fucking will. and if you do it really high his spells hit for very little and it's just a joke. In the end though, I'm playing the game for the adventure and all the stories and lore and random stuff I can find that immerse me...so the combat is really just a side part. kind of like Knights of the Old Republic. The combat was actually pretty terrible. You never had a remote chance of dying. Ever. But you didn't play it for that; KoTOR was for an awesome amount of immersion and story. This for me is the same.

Went back at around 18 or so, hit him with my sword a bunch of times, backed up, healed, shot him with arrows, eventually ran down a cliff where he got stuck, traded arrows and fireballs until he died.

I know you have to be level 20, but I'm 47, so shouldn't be a problem. Has anyone experienced this? I've heard somewhere that new stewards appear if you kill the current one off. Anyone who's tried this?

Companion Spoiler + Show Spoiler + I just became a werewolf, but I kind of want to load the game before that because I don't like the decision I make. Will it set me back a lot and not let me finish the quests with the Companions?

DRM fucking with legit players once again, because i dont see how this affects anyone that were pirating the game anyways. So that's what's going on. I've been trying to get the damn game to work all morning. Had to delete the exe and redownload it but now I can't launch the game without starting steam.

Yeah but I don't need some game patting me on the head telling me how good I am at it.
