Monsters do scale in Skyrim, but some locations are designed to be harder than others. Either they could have a minimum strength that's just too high for you, or they scale up slightly above your level to always provide a real challenge.

It's soft-scaling, so an area will have a level range of say, 5-12. If you're within that range it'll scale, but if you're say, level 2 they will be level 5 and if you're level 17 they will be level 12.

Still gonna finish my first character though. Be careful and make sure to manually save your original character. I used to only quick save (f5) and I started a new character for fun.. I lost my lv29 d/w nord with full daedric 100 smith/enchanting etc because Skyrim save management is shit and it saved over my guy. Thank god I have PC version and I had an old lv10 save.. I 'cheated' and gave myself full bags of mats to relevel blacksmithing/enchanting and power leveled back up to lv25 doing that and recrafted my gearset. I still have to redo about 3-4 hours of quests though a lot of the little knick knacks and dragonshouts I'm missing now.

Yeah I have like 6 hardsaves and hardsave everytime I exit the game so that's no problem. Thanks for the warning though. ![]()

Yeah the save game system screwed me too, although I only lost a level ~8-9 Nord Warrior. Now I'm being extremely careful when switching between my level 21 Mage and level 10 Thief. They should have set it up so each character has it's own set of saves...not sure why they had to copy/paste the system from Oblivion which was terrible even for its time.

Im almost max on half the skills, if anyone wants to see quick ways to power level skills check these links (dont level many non combat skills 1st because enemies scale with level) http://www.gamersheroes.com/elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-fast-leveling-guide http://www.reddit.com/r/skyrim/comments/medbn/good_list_of_way_to_train_all_your_skills/ http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/1266212-2469-armor-3199-damage-using-smithing-alchemy-enchanting-only-31-perks/ I also recommend getting the Lover Stone - All skills improve 15% faster, then switch to whichever you want ![]()
