that's the most useless shout in the game imo. if it slows time for EVERYONE including you, what good is it? answer is none.

And I kinda like these hard choices. Everything and everyone is in the grey. There is Alduin as the absolute evil, though it is suggested that he is actually the inevitability of fate that humanity, you, is trying to combat. For everyone else, there is no real right or wrong. It's hard to choose between the Imperials and Stormcloaks because both have moral strengths and weaknesses. The Blades are supposedly the force of good in the story, but their own philosophy blinds them to a fault even against allies. I LOVE how indecisive this game makes you, as you really question the questionable morality of everyone in the game.
I'm really tired and rambling on 2 hours of sleep lol
edit: post 3999 O_o Gonna lay low for a while until I can finish up my planned post 4k

? That would be true if this was a multiplayer game...but it's not. The AI controlling your enemies won't make smarter moves because time is slow. You, however, can dodge missiles, "react quicker," and in general make it harder to get gibbed by a stray arrow/spell.
Not as useful as some shouts, but not useless.

Started my archer/thief yesterday and I'm already 11 hours in and I'm already level 25. Are daggers worth it? 35x backstab dmg sounds good but is it really useful? I'd have to get in melee range and against more than 1 enemy the backstab dmg is out of the window or do I miss something I'm not thinking of right now?
Just started Thiefs Guild quests they're so awesome and way more fun than the Winterhold College stuff and it's ridiculous how fast you level if you buy training and pickpocket your money back.

Still gonna finish my first character though. Be careful and make sure to manually save your original character. I used to only quick save (f5) and I started a new character for fun.. I lost my lv29 d/w nord with full daedric 100 smith/enchanting etc because Skyrim save management is shit and it saved over my guy. Thank god I have PC version and I had an old lv10 save.. I 'cheated' and gave myself full bags of mats to relevel blacksmithing/enchanting and power leveled back up to lv25 doing that and recrafted my gearset. I still have to redo about 3-4 hours of quests though a lot of the little knick knacks and dragonshouts I'm missing now. Just Save/Load using console and you get the best of both worlds plus the ability to name your saves. for example open console with ~ and type "save savename" (replace savename with what you want to name your save) and then you can use the "load savename" command or load using normal menu. For quicksaves i use save 1, save 2, etc. and for hardsaves I use the character name as the savename.
This is the method I use now. I wish I would have figured that out before I lost my guy lol, but console saved the day. I can redo a few quests ezpz.

once you have a decent level in sneaking and some proper equipment (thieves guild or dark brotherhood armor) stealthing and backstabbing becomes really cool imho.. in the beginning i mostly used a bow because getting into meele range wasn't possible at all... but it definately is viable

He puts it in a spoiler so you don't get spoiled. It's not his fault you clicked the spoiler. Get over it, it's your own fault if you open a spoiler.

Can anyone with an advanced thief/assassin character tell me if illusion is worth investing in? Some illusion spells like muffle/invisibility look like they could prove very useful. However, you get can the equivalent effects from potions, so I guess you can just rely on alchemy? What do you think?
|
I was thinking about investing into Illusion aswell, especially since the Nightingale headpiece gives a 15% mana bonus on those spells and otherwise it'd be totally worthless to me.
Since I have neither Alchemy nor Illusion I think I'll just start going for Illusion next, especially Invisibility should prove to be a very useful spell I think.

I like Illusion, mostly for the spells you mentioned, but also for Fury. I don't usually go around with a companion (seems weird to be creeping around with a plate-wearing warrior, and they tend to get tangled up with me more often than not), so hitting a mage with Fury when he's in a group really helps take down the harder rooms. You can plunk away at them from the shadows while they take him down, and in general cause a bunch of ruckus.
That's just how I like playing though.

I've never really had the inclination to use the calm/fury/fear spells with my mage character. I think I'll give it a try with my sneaky snake khajiit.

Oh yeah don't know if this was brought up but there's a seemingly INTENTIONAL glitch in the Thieve's endquest + Show Spoiler + When you go to return the skeleton key
A door that is open when you first go sometimes randomly closes and there's no way to reopen it, but on the sides of the stone door there's a HUGE gap that allows you to just hop/whirlwind walk behind the door and move onwards haha.

I'm playing as battlemage at master level. Just started 1st mage quest and i'm about level 5 i think. Spriggans are hell and so are bears. I try to avoid them as much as i can. But on this first mission it is hell the draugr are unkillable with my dual destruction fire, any hint?

Early on, try to weaken ennemies with spells before switching to a weapon and shield in the beginning. As you grow in magical power and do more damage per spell, you wont need to anymore. You dont need to do it but make it that much easier. Also, if you have cold spells, they lowere the movement speed of the target which helps keeping a distance.

Level up destruction enough to unlock the perk that staggers enemies on dual cast, then the fireballs should work.

yes basically there are 2 main ways of how to play detruction imo, those are conjuration/destruction where u summon shit and let them tank while standing real far and casting bolt shit or going alteration destruction where u get +200 armor and stagger melee opponents and 1hward/1h lighting against casters (with restoration, but thats always useful)
