As far as I'm concerned, I won't stack Smithing / Enchanting / Alchemy together to make uber items. Not that I look down on it or anything, but I think the game would be too easy for me. I'm not going to combine Alchemy and Enchanting on my Smithing, nor use Alchemy to make Enchanting better or Enchanting to make Alchemy better. I figure just making a single Alchemy Pot that enhances Smithing is enough and a single Alchemy Pot that enhances Enchanting is enough. Might even just abandon having Lydia follow me too before I finish up the Main Quest.
I've really been enjoying my Archery, Sneak, Light Armor, Smithing, Enchanting, Alchemy focused character on Master difficulty. Archery was insanely hard to begin with and is extremely rewarding now. Now my home has basically treasure piles and gem piles that sparkle in the light. Just feels satisfying.

I loved being a sneaky archer/rogue in Oblivion, but my compter has way too much graphics lag for archery to be effective in Skyrim Went for a dual-wield mace rogue instead, and have found sneak a LOT harder to use than it was in Oblivion. Then again, i've spread my perks out quite a bit so far and i'm only level 19 so i guess they're more important than i first thought.

Steps back- The UI. Oblivion's UI was far from perfect, but Skyrim's is worse in my opinion. You can see clearly that this was mostly a console port. The most annoying case of this is in dialogue/selling things and the level up system. If you miss the word of your character's name even slightly with the mouse it goes back to the previous dialogue screen. In the level up section, you have to hit 'enter' in order to select something to level up.
The tab menu is more annoying. Splitting up quests from the tab menu as well as your stats and placing the two of those into the esc menu is quite annoying to say the least, especially when you're used to Oblivion's controls. The LMB/RMB display is WRONG on the inventory/magic/favourites screen. When you click LMB it displays [R] and vice versa. This gets really confusing.
- Optimisation. While Oblivion was far from the most optimised game around, Skyrim feels a lot worse. I have a pretty beastly rig, but it still chokes up in some places; mostly interiors, oddly enough. I hope we can see a user mod to increase the optimisation on this
Things I wish they'd changed- Cities still don't feel big enough, and even though there are more people in the streets now, it still doesn't feel crowded enough.
- Dual wielding is wonky in my opinion. I wished it worked more like some of the mods out there but I don't really care either way; I don't dual wield and I didn't dual wield much in Oblivion on those characters.
Despite all this though, I've been having a blast playing it, and getting to walk around Skyrim, which is a stark contrast to the surroundings we got in Oblivion. Not having to deal with Oblivion Gates is great too Honestly, the true potential of Skyrim hasn't even been seen yet; I can't wait to see what the modding community throws out once they get their hands on the construction kit. (Apart from the nude mods -_-) TLDR: It's a solid game, feels a lot like a console port, but you should buy it. I pretty much agree with all your points. The UI is a little silly but I've got used to it because the rest of the game is too good. Good work. I fixed it for you... this is how I do it: + Show Spoiler +

So I'm running a 2 handed guy with heavy armor and smithing right now, I was thinking of going enchanting as well but from what I read they seem to be terribly OP together, is there any other skill tree that would work good with 2 handing?

So got trough the dragonborn story as well as mage and imperium/stormcloaks ones. Honesty, out of all of them, the main plot line was the least engaging one for me, I do like the final outcome of it tho. Breton mage with no armor, destruction/alteration maxed (no crafting done what so ever) - quite fun this far, but I must say the lack of variety in offensive spells should be fixed Loving the Dark Brotherhood atm, all Daedric quests are made of awesome as well (Ring of Namira - omnomnom! :D ).
What disappoints me the most is, how little impact the fraction stories actually have on the world. The city guards appear to be the only people who know what going on. I am apparently a Archmage of the College but every other mage I meet still treats my like a scrub and tells me I should 'check out the Winterhold if I am intersted in learning spellcraft'. I mean - WHAT??? I defeated the Stormcloaks ages ago but people are still talking how awesomely Ulfric is fairing. Such thins are a bit irking to be fair but I'm sure someone will make a mod to fix them.
I'm somewhat regretful for rolling a mage as my first character tho as it would have probably been more fun to play it on the hardest difficulty once I got to my second run. Meh. I do hope, playing a melee character is more entertaining than it appears as I will probably make some sort of Nord warrior next.

I gave all my dragon bones & scales to lydia because they were so heavy (like 5-6 dragons killed) and told her to wait. Now i got a message that my follower had abandoned me. Does this mean i lost all my items? I haven't gone back to check yet cause busy with quest.

How are people dealing with mages? Whenever I run into a frost mage I die before I can get next to them so I just chug an invisibility pot and go sneak attack them. There must be some other way though ^_^

Wait, people are seriously complaining about the UI for PC? I think it's one of the best done UI's for an Elder Scrolls/Fallout game in a long time. Switching between spells is so easy, all you do is tab > A > A > select school and spell, your hand never moves off the WASD. The menu remebers your location so if you're in combat and switching need to switch between destro/healing it's a minimal number of button presses. My character has bow/one-hander/destro skills so I'm switching between bow and melee mode quite often.

So travelling... came across a Giant attacking some type of Orc settlement. I help out, but I get one shotted and thrown into the heavens.
I reloaded, and tried again. This time, I just used my bow. I also have the mage companion you get after getting azuras star (shes wicked op). She constantly staggered the Giant with dual casting, while her flame atronach kept blasting it and me pelting it with an orcish bow. Killed it with ease because of her. I'm only level 15! :O
|
^killed a giant level 15 as well, it's definitely hard then but around there, assuming you're leveling up mostly combat skills, it's definitely possible. And no, despite all the hyperbole Giants aren't the hardest thing you'll fight in the game.

With the other elements I use a ward and then just chop their heads off.

lol. I'm lv 26 in fully decked out improved heavy dragonscale armor set and a nice daedric greatsword and I don't dare come close to a giant xD. I've killed one with a bow too, but I just cant kill one in melee.

Skyrim was too short. They talked about years of gameplay and it is more than less.

As soon as you have destruction dual casting, you can kill giants with ease. Just don't cast too fast, and you will never run out of mana. And they should never reach you unless you fail majorly.

Seriously? I've been whacking giants to death since I got my Ebony Mace ^_^ They're a complete joke now...
My character is very anti-magic (My destruction is level 16 from a skillbook) so I really don't think sparks is an option. I'll just keep going invis if this is the only way to deal with them.

I beat a giant at level 7 as mage with no follower.
Took me kiting from almost Winterthingy to Riften though lol

Bah, i have hit a bug it seems I am on the main quest A Cornered Rat. Talk to esbern part. I have talked to him through the cell door. (while talking to him his chat was really fast and i didn't have time to read more then few words). And now, he still has an arrow pointing above his head, but the door to him can't open. even though it should be able to open them. THere is no key needed, and no unlock. I can see E Open Door
Any help ?
