Highly doubt it. With WoW I think that it really might not. If it did, maybe in a few years, they haven't even announced they're making it, if they are.

I never really played War3 though. I never saw the appeal to it. Sorry. I found that Starcraft was a more macro intensive game, meaning it depended more on expanding, and producing. Rather than War3's micro intensive heroes. I just thought that the War3 heroes and micro was sort of silly. It was more of a "if your hero dies, you're screwed! Keep it alive" Like those games were you had to avoid being killed, by some crazy car.
I have an announcement to make, "Moo!" That is all.

I just found this youtube channel about wc3 : http://www.youtube.com/user/Chumpesque and subcribed...
Something that intrigues me is that THERE are recent games of high level players...
Can anybody explain that?
Time to wacth some wc3 in action !!!
Any high level game of strategy is entertaining

isn't WC3 still popular in China?

If the map scandal (among other things) didnt totally sink WC3 in Korea, the current outlook for WC3 would've been much brighter..

If i still had my War3 cd i would be playing right now...and if i rember correctly there was a major decline in war 3 about 5 years ago.. kinda old story but it is sad to see such a fun game go down the drain... o well

I just bought sc/bw and I think Sc2 is lame and bw is the real mans game no idle peon or auto mining path.
just the pure skill of the player.

thank you korea for keeping the game alive.

It really is alive, the game is still supported by WCG. Many tournaments are still held and pro players still compete for big money. With that being said the casual scene may have died since so many have moved on to Starcraft 2. You can still find competition at very high levels of play. A few of my friends and I actually still play Warcraft 3 over lan.

Go to these sites to find people still interested in Warcraft 3 and the competitive scene.

This post is far too confusing for anyone to understand.

Warcraft III isn't dead, it just smells funny. It's still huge in China, and I heard (still trying to find a source) that there will be a league in China with a €110,000 prize pool in 2011. Grubby is really the only non-Asian player left able to compete with the best

A game is never dead when people in the world enjoy it. I do however wish that blizzard would prevent hackers in WC3 along with the Spammers in Diablo.
Ideas are bullet-proof.

Holy shit!

That deserves it's own thread, I've never heard of anything like this.

Wow, that's nice. Too bad it's a bit too late. So many good players already left the WC3 scene =/

I liked Warcraft 3 balance issues aside it's a pretty fun game to watch once you know some stuff about it as it gives me the chance to enjoy looking at the micro of the players and I really enjoy seeing unit control because it's something that I myself am just intensely interested in. Warcraft 3 I'd watch more if I knew of more places to actually view it with good commentary. Didn't enjoy the WCG casters whoever they where this year I'll tell you that.

Games never die, so long as at least one person enjoys them they'll keep going. Hell I still play wc3 occasionally just because I like the style even if I hate no idea what I am doing coming from a SC background.

You can't kill the love people have for a game ^^!

It's a shame really because Warcraft 3 was actually quite fun to watch. I find it a lot more interesting than SC2.

Yes wc3 is still quite populair in china, but out side of that its really pretty much dead atm , guess we will still see a few minor tours here & there with WCG 2011 as final goodbye tournament since rumor has it ( or its official already dunno ) that Shanghai will host wcg 2011 and I'm quite sure looking at the succes Wc3 was in 2009 Chengdu ( literally 10/15.000 people live cheering for their wc3 players , sickest thing i ever saw in e-sports :D ) that decision had a lot to do with Wc3 so I'll guess we'll see it in that one, but I don't think you can hope for anything in europe or whatsoever, just almost no interest anymore, which is sad cause I loved this game as well, would like a few changes though :D but it was great.

Now that I think of it, 2011, WCG, Shanghai, awesome buuuuut, sc II, battle.net ONLINE?, gonna play a lan tournament online while being in China? :D blizzard better have chinese servers running by then otherwise its the fail of the century t_t

Wonder if there is going to be English commentary. It would definitely be great, but I kinda doubt it. Need more information :/

Activision-Blizzard negligence is the reason WC3 died out. I guess it became standard for Blizzard not to support their old games after WoW came out...
Just look at it: BW ladder getting killed, D2 and WC3 being neglected into oblivion (it would be such a simple fix to get runewords and hacks done with in D2 and even simpler thing to increase the frequency of ladder resets and map-pool rotation in WC3).

Once again I must bring the Relic Entertainment here, just look how they cater to their games. CoH is receiving constant updates, including major graphics overhauls (like adding DX10 support). Blizzard is large enough company to do the same for its older games, why won't they do it then?
Time is precious. Waste it wisely.

As long as Wc3 custom maps continue to exist, Wc3 will never truly die.

I do agree that the competitive/high level scene is on it's last legs, though.

Yeah but the custom map scene has been ruined by all those damn hostbots. It's near impossible to host a game without a hostbot these days - they have found a way to circumvent the regular BNet refresh system so their games are always on top. Therefore a normally hosted game has no chance of being seen by players.
