There is no point in playing when there is an easier game, sc2, with more competition, better support and more prizes, as well as a demand on the computer spec side which will bring in more sponsors. The game isnt dead, no, but the gap between the professionals and amateurs is forever broken.

Oh well, they let it die, probably to divert attention to their newer games. Wc3 was one of the best, spectator wise, anyone who plays would probably agree. Seems to be a Blizzard policy to stop patching games and leave them imbalanced to divert attention to their newer titles... I suppose Kespa is to thank for theorizing new maps to lessen the imbalance. Just think they should keep patching them, especially for balance, sad.

To be honest if a game needs to be patched for balance after all these years of being released is a tell tale sign of its competitive future. Failure to balance a game after years shows a underlying failure in the game itself I think :/ Thus is why many jumped ship as soon as SC2 was available.

Once I got into sc:bw and pro gaming in general, I always saw wc3 games and tournaments, but couldn't follow. Unlike sc, watching wc3 when you didn't know exactly what the players were doing and why they were doing it seemed really difficult. During sc games I could still know when something big happened, or usually which player had the advantage. I couldn't do this in wc3. Part of this could have been the casters. Gom with Tasteless and SuperDanielMan was extremely entertaining, even if you were new.

It'll still be around for years as long as there's custom maps.

You hear it in some of his casts where he just spends the next 10 mins complaining about the Blademaster. i understand tod's sentiment. wc3 balancing was notoriously ignorant of the complaints of the community. blademaster contributed greatly to the demise of wc3 more than the release of sc2.

And, while I love watching pro BW, I really think people are just raising false hopes. BW is done, not because there's no interest, but because Blizzard is shutting it all down. They've been having these negotiations for months, and still haven't come up with an agreement. Now that the proleague is running anyway, Blizzard is for sure going to say no. That's just the truth.
