Worse yet were their comments after the game...drawing analogies to Jordan/Detroit? Are you fucking kidding me Wade?
And this:

lmao that was hilarious. Seriously watching Rondo being a jerk all game made me laugh. But his defense on Lebron wasn't super effective, more so an annoyance.

Not exactly the same thing but I know why they said it. Miami has lost 13 of their last 14 games to Boston, and Lebron himself has lost the last 13 of 14 IN Boston if I remember correctly.
Add in that Boston with the exception of 2009 has beaten Lebron, and bounced them both last year I see what he means.

Heat needed to run on the Celts, but they spent a lot of the game in their halfcourt set. Boston is old and not particularly deep, the Heat could have leveraged their athletic advantage to win the game (imo) but didn't, and I can't figure out why.

I would say pretty effective as Lebron started posting him up...at the half-court line and was forced to pick up the ball multiple possessions. Miami did adapt to it after a while but that was well after Boston gained control of the game.
I know why Wade said it, but honestly, if that's the outlook of your team at this point in the regular season, you're not playing for a championship. None of Jordan's teams were as good as this Heat team (relatively) and he certainly was competitive each of those games. Can't really say the same for the Heat despite the score, there was just a lot of whatever-we-should-win-this in the second half despite Boston being shorthanded, on a back-to-back, and Pierce being as close to a non-factor as I have seen him in a while.

@Rho_: word is Boston, since they shoot such a high % doesn't go on the offensive glass anymore just to limit transition opportunities.
@Judicator: Miami still got open shots on Boston due to Lebron backing Rondo down 30 feet into the 3 pt line from half court. Perkins and Garnett had to help him and that freed up rotations. Guys just missed open shots.
I disagree that Jordan's teams weren't as good. If we take the 88 or 89 Bulls they had an almost complete supporting cast. Miami doesn't yet.

They had no chance vs. Detroit in 1989 because the Pistons had lost brutal game 7s the previous two years, and no one was stopping the bad boys that year. In 1990 the series was dead even and the Bulls only lost because Pippen had a huge migraine during game 7. Talent-wise they were almost there in 1989, and all the way there in 1990. The Pistons were also worse in 1990 because of the expansion draft (bye bye Mahorn).

How far behind is Lebron in terms of accomplishments at the same age as Michael Jordan? is there a statistic somewhere?

On February 16 2011 04:10 BalliSLife wrote: How far behind is Lebron in terms of accomplishments at the same age as Michael Jordan? is there a statistic somewhere? You can't really compare by age because LBJ was prep-to-pro and MJ spent 3 years at North Carolina. For the same reason, it's not entirely fair to compare by number of years in the league, since MJ was a lot more NBA-ready as a rookie, being more mature and having a more refined game from the college years.
Anyway, from their first 7 years:
LeBron James 6 all-star selections 4x All-NBA first team 2x All-NBA second team 2x All-NBA Defensive first team 2x NBA MVP 1 scoring title 1 finals appearance
Michael Jordan 7 all-star selections (1986 one is bogus though, since he missed most of the year) 1985 Rookie of the Year 5x All-NBA first team 1x All-NBA second team 4x All-NBA Defensive first team 1988 Defensive Player of the Year 2x NBA MVP 5 scoring titles 1 title
So Jordan accomplished more, but he was at an advantage after 3 years of learning from one of the greatest college coaches ever. We'll be able to see how LeBron stacks up when his 5 year Heat tenure is over.

1 finals appearance, 1 title? o.0
|
I guess that's confusing wording so I'll change it. I was trying to say he appeared in and won the 1991 finals (in his 7th year).
|
Dwayne Wade went absolutely nuts in that first quarter

Pacers vs Heat are such a good matchup, i really hope they line up in the playoffs

wait...didn't LBJ win ROTY too?

someone explain to me how the lakers lost to the cavs. AHAHAHA!
funny thing is cavs beat boston earlier in the season too, pretty funny stuff. just goes to show that you still have to try against the worst teams to beat them, it's definitely an effort game
|
Oh my god, if only the cavs still had it's losing streak, only to break it against the lakers.
And come on, golden state, make Utah 0-3 post Sloan. Lose Utah lose.
|
How about that Monta Ellis? It really sucks how he didn't make the all-star team this year.

I think you just answered how the Lakers lost in your post. The effort for the Lakers just hasn't been there lately (specially Gasol among others). But with this loss it is official, the Lakers will win it all again this year! LA QQ'ers are going to be on their asses the rest of the way after this.
