A couple of things.

Our castle was never "abandoned". we have about 6 people working on it throughtout the day. At the moment it was heavily greifed, like beyond anything you've seen recently im sure. Hours of greifing. For all i know, it was you. (and you = you know who you are)

Second note. The castle started going up long before anything at all was in the area (besides spawnville, which is outside of the fog of war). Mino oversaw (more like stalking me of his own intentions lol <3 mino) when i was laying the foundation as well as others, long before you guys even knew spawnville was accessible again, we started the foundations when everyone was building by the secondary spawn point. About the time we laid out our walls about 6-10 blocks high, mino or someone else opened up the main spawn again.

If your going to attack someone for making something larger and more intricate than your own creation, find better reasons. Things of this size take time, and unfortunately all of our time is going into repairs, through what we like to call a "siege" that the castle construction was put under. Our guild had great plans as to what was to happen, and the steps in which they would execute, despite what you think, over at our forums. Then it was greifed a tad, no biggie, then 2 nights later we got hit HARD.

Had it not been for said greifers, we would already have the keeps, foundations, and gateways finished. Feel free to help, but until you get griefed on a level like we did, you cannot begin to understand what were going through.

And for those who are helping with repairs, thanks. You deserve it.

If im misunderstanding anyone I apoligize for that as well.

I keep getting kicked from server and it gives me a java.netsocket-exception software caused connection abort: message, is there any way to fix this?

well ninja yeah i see its pretty bm to flame you guys for building such a huge thing, but still please make more than one entrance and put up a few signs so one doesn't lose its mind when running along your wall confused for hours ;P this is what i think makes me rage about it, as stated.

I think the question the group building it is having right now is this, are we resetting on halloween? or not. If we are, were going to not waste our time, and rebuild it (albeit smaller im sure) away from spawn on the new server, with a new theme. If not, we have a ton of fixing work to do, and ill get right on those gateways.

Id like an official note about this please Ser.

Well I got tired of walking all the way around so theres a new entrance near spawnville. Also I made the road heading east out of the castle actually connect to something now and not just dead end suspended 50 feet up in the air.

there have been some talk about roading i'd like to clear up, before the next server reset so that we don't get people running around nilly nilly doing whatever they want with the roads. as the only really active (nonmod) member of TLTA left (the only one still making roads anyway), I figure i should make clear some things.

are you guys kidding me, bitching because people dont want to conform to one non-mandated style in a sandbox game?? come on now

short of doing douchy shit like deliberately building a massive fuckoff wall in front of your neighbor to block his view for no good reason and the like, it should be do whatever you want. theres plenty of crap that i see around the map that i think that looks like ass. thats why i walked for miles and started smi hq with a few people out in west bumblefuck, so we could do our own thing. i plan on doing a series of connected floating islands and bubbledomes, and frankly, i dont give a fuck if it's not aesthetically pleasing to some of you. dont build by me.

even still, we are good neighbors w crazytown, connecting roadways, helping with projects, loaning materials and plants, etc... as far as ive seen, no one does anything ridiculous, like claim a 750x750 area or something stupid right in the middle of a populated area. Even with the server as large and expansive as it is, there is open space to find.

@hawk up there just reminded me: i forgot to mention that its totally cool if people build their own style of roads in their little areas on the map. seriously not a big deal, and imo adds flavor... south of natex right now people are building AMAZING things, and they have their own style of road which is absolutely cool and tlta has no problem with.

basically leave the hardcore, server specific areas (the 'official' areas closer to spawnville) to tlta and come up with your own styles near your houses. keep in mind that anywhere tlta connects to will be standard, so be aware of that when you ask us to build you a road.

Dont forget space for minecarts. Any highway is incomplete without a minecart track.

This is a question that can't really be truly answered right now. Myself I'd like a reset, but Serejai has stated to me quite a few times that it depends on the multiplayer updates (eg. will we be getting all of the new stuff in working condition? Minecarts? Redstone?. Expect any information to come out after the update is complete and we know whats going to happen.

minecarts are banned items on the server, minecarts cause instability in SMP. Minecarts and track can cause the server to crash, and are banned.

A single minecart / track can cause the server to crash, and will cause the player who put it down to be banned from the server.

NO MINECARTS AND NO MINECART TRACKS!

I guess i didn't make myself understandable. I said space for minecarts. Notch has stated that once the Halloween update is done, the next thing up is multiplayer bug fixing, including minecarts. That means, once we get that, it'd be nice if we already had planned for that and had space for minecarts in our roadsystem/transitsystem, so once its fixed, we can get started right away.

Im not saying we should make it now. I'm a mod, I know the rules (however stupid i may seem)

You just need to PM me your Minecraft ID. That's it. I haven't updated the list yet today because I've been at the dentist all morning. Will get to it shortly. Sorry for the delay!

Also, as far as building regulation goes... it's a sandbox game. People can do whatever they want. However, it's upon you guys to keep yourselves in line with your projects. If you want to make some massive castle or even a giant cube, by all means go for it. But try to be respectful of the other players on the server, and don't build it too close to anyone else.

Towns were kind of a first step to organizing the server a bit, and I think they work pretty well since they're completely optional, but establish some guidelines and whatnot for people who choose to use them. I have some other features to add soon that will further improve the town system for those who choose to use it, without impacting those who do not. The downside is that people who build in towns tend to want a bit more realism in the game than those who do not, so they frown upon these giant castles and battlecruisers and whatnot that are near them. It's hard to balance because some people want this to be an actual survival server, and others want creative 2.0

Last but not least, I have no idea if the server will reset or not. The majority of players lean towards a reset, and I personally would like a reset (mostly to fix a few server-side issues). But I don't know if a reset will be required yet, and won't until the update hits in a few days. If you're worried about it, just play it safe and assume there will be one.
