The colors don't actually mean anything... they apparently are just to differentiate the three groups of stars... weak. Also, anyone can look up the solution on their phone 10 minutes after their event starts lol

1. 3 colors isn't going to be all too bad. It's slower, yes, but everyone's having to suck it up. Three colors aren't going to be as ubiquitous but it was hardly an issue at all. Granted, I'm running 2 prophetic prisims (UWR control), but I didn't get color screwed all night until my lands started getting blown up. I even ran 2 mutavaults with no issues whatsoever. 2. Elspeth is a fucking monster. MONSTER. I don't care what I'm playing against, I want to draw her if it's after T5. There is just so much she just shits on, it's amazing. 3. Detention sphere as the only enchantment removal in your deck doesn't cut it anymore; you can't dsphere a dsphere ![]() 4. Steam augry is good/great about 75% of the time. The other 20% it's decent and 5% it blows, because they know you REALLY want that aetherling and it's alone because if you're not getting the aetherling, at least you get the rest, and there's no way to convince them otherwise at that point. 5. Ran creatureless tonight, but I want omenspeakers I think. Even without a resto, seeing my buddy playing his UW control, it just smooths things out so well. 6. Need more burn; ran 3 magma jets, 2 helix, 1 mortars with 4 verdict. Without more damage spells, planeswalkers especially were a bit of an issue. The lack of snaps was most evident here, as helix + snaphelix was a finisher very often before, and the inability to do so nearly cost me a couple games when I ended up a few HP short. 7. LOL at people playing 3+ mainboard thoughtsieze. T1 shock overgrown tomb thoughtsieze, T2 thoughtsieze, T3 read the bones. Happened twice tonight, and it just makes things easy. 8. Peak eruption is more viable sideboard tech than I thought. Lost a game in R5 vs a gruul guy because he popped both my red sources and 6 damage to me with just the two of them. Whether or not it'll stay there depends on how much UWR/BWR people play I'm guessing, but blowing a land for 3 mana in a deck like that is pretty convenient. 9. Daxos is pretty fun. Doubt his viability, but way cooler than nightveil. Swing, gain 4, cast xenagos, revel in his displeasure! Anyways, my own $.05, cause it's too long for $.02.

You can't play that much lifeloss, especially now that we don't have turn five thragtusks running around. Control lost a lot of its tool for not dying to crazy aggro, though with the new, worse mana we're not going to have anything like frigging naya blitz that straight up murders you in four turns. How did you feel vs Aggro? Closest thing to aggro I played tonight was a G/R ramp into fatties deck, aka T2 Domri T3 xenagos T4 Ruric thar/stormbreath, and I won vs him. Felt very comfortable over all, just not used to playing creatureless control, need to be more conservative with my wincons since I'm not running tons of flash dudes anymore. Overview of what i played against: R1 Janky G/W aggro, essentially a bye R2 Esper control/reanimator something? Had whip + desecration demon, idk what it was R3 Rock control, won at 1 life in G2 after vraska blew up elspeth and assemble ![]() R4 UW control, fuckin 1-1 at 1 min left in round, god I hate draws R5 GR ramp into fatties, Won G1 easily, lost G2 to ruric thar and peak eruption, won G3 off sideboarded archangel (she's so amazing O.O) EDIT: OH YEAH THAT'S WHAT I PLAYED AGAINST.

I wanted to build Orzhov Lifelink with Archangels to go insane, but 4 Archangels is over $100 atm, and I can't afford it, so I'm just going Junk. We'll see how it works out.

+ Show Spoiler + 4 Experiment One 4 Fleecemane Lion 4 Voice of Resurgence 2 Scavenging Ooze 4 Boon Satyr 3 Varolz, the Scar-Striped 3 Loxodon Smiter 2 Sin Collector 2 Selesnya Charm 1 Putrefy 3 Advent of the Wurm 3 Unflinching Courage 1 Bow of Nylea 4 Temple Garden 4 Godless Shrine 4 Overgrown Tomb 2 Temple of Silence 2 Selesnya Guildgate 2 Golgari Guildgate 4 Forest 2 Plains SB: 1 Selesnya Charm 1 Advent of the Wurm 1 Unflinching Courage 1 Putrefy 1 Sin Collector 1 Scavenging Ooze 1 Deadbridge Chant 2 Golgari Charm 2 Abrupt Decay 2 Lifebane Zombie 2 Trostani, Selesnya's Voice Sideboard was thrown together due to not acquiring Thoughtseizes in time zzz Played against: r1 monogreen hydras, win 2-0. g1 he couldn't stop an indesctructible hexproof lifelink trample 8/8, GO FIGURE. g2 looked closer as he got a hit in with Kalonian Hydra while he was at 14 against my board of Voice, Varolz, and Experiment One, but end step Wurm, untap bestow Satyr, swing for lethal??? was enough. r2 heroic WW, win 2-0. g1 Soldier of the Pantheon was annoying until I put Unflinching Courage on pretty much anything and trampled over it. g2 Soldier of the Pantheon stonewalled me for a bit, then I Ravager'd him and sac/scavenged my entire board onto a Lifebane Zombie for very lethal. r3 Junk midrange, win 2-0. Won through multiple Blood Barons both games, g1 because Boon Satyr and Wurm tokens being monogreen and g2 because of Varolz. All of his other cards matched up pretty poorly against my guys that regenerate, become indestructible and hexproof, leave a massive token behind when they die, suddenly add 4/5 power to the board out of nowhere, etc. r4 "medium" Boros, scooped to friend. Played a quick game for funsies, lost to quadruple Boros Reckoner in a game that could have gone either way. r5 WW auras, won 2-0. The guys on the deck seemed convinced that their matchup with GW was essentially unloseable. Turns out Soldier of the Pantheon is bad against Unflinching Courage. My opponent did get stuck on 3 lands both games which prevented some bestow hijinks but he dumped his hand onto the table on t3 like every game so I don't really know how much it mattered. Mostly wouldn't mind cutting Sin Collector from the main until blue decks get bigger.

1. Actual removal, like kill X creature, is a premium in this format. 2. The magic number for toughness seems to be 3, as it dodges magma jet, phyrekia's cure, and some combat tricks, but it dies to lightning strike and the -4/-4 for 3B instant spell, so be careful of that. 3. The format is pretty slow as most of the big cards are 4 or 5+ mana, along with bestow. The little dudes don't seem to get bigger than a 2/3 at most without some tricks involved. 4. The amount of combat tricks in the format is insane, and all of the cheap ones are really worth it. All stars include coordinated assault and one that blue has that is 0/+3 to 2 dudes and sleeps the blocked creatures. 5. Black is definitely the devotion color. White seems to be about bestow, green for heroic and bestow. Blue and red seem to be supporting colors. 6. The kodoma's reach creature is fantastic so long as you can use his ability. Most decks should be mono color or some common pairing (uw, br, etc.) to be the best combination of bestow creatures/removal/heroic. 7. It is possible to draft a nut aggro deck, but it is very hard. If you so though, you should win every game you have when you are on the play.

Deathrite Shaman helped. Kitchen Finks and/or Obstinate Baloth did a lot of work as well.

I encountered a rules situation where I wasn't sure of the answer. I announced I was ending my main phase and going into the next phase. An opponent announced that he was casting an instant, and it resolved. Can I follow that up with a sorcery, or do I have to wait until after combat? I though I had passed priority and that's it, but they said I can still cast the sorcery since I had not declared attackers yet.

Its the same for End of my turn opponent casts Instants and I can choose to let those resolve before casting any spells.

I have to say playing on MTGO has really helped me improve my offline gameplay... although I didn't know the answer to this particular question before today, I definitely was forced to quickly pick up an understanding of the phases, priority, and when things can/must happen. Most of the people I encounter when playing offline I cannot really trust to always give me the correct answers to questions. In other words based on my experience I strongly suggest newer (not brand new) players learn to play online, where the rules are all hard-coded and very accurate (haven't found a mistake yet although I'm sure they occasionally happen).

So far, 1 Theros draft + 2 additional boosters have given me the rares/foils listed below. I've heard that Thoughtseize's a pretty good card, but what about the others? Haven't played MTG for three years and that's why I'm asking Artisan of Forms x2 Fade into Aniquity (Foil) Hammer of Purphoros Meletis Charlatan Mountain(Foil) Polis Crusher Thoughtseize (Foil) Will get an intro deck and a fat pack next week
