i love the low cost red spells that have scry but i think this is going to be largely about bigger creatures.. i will probably go green even tho i dont care for the promo card hey uh, in the booster that is for the color you pick, can you get multicolor cards? i have no idea how this works lol

Flyers are going to rule this limited format. Hopefully since you're going red you'll open a lot of removal. There isn't much relevant flyer removal in red, most of the useable burn is too small, only lightning strike really does the job. However, blue has good defensive flyers and green has super playable reach creatures (dryad and asp) so those will probably be my go-tos

It has almost all the decent removal (although nearly all the removal in the set is bad) and it has a bunch off cheap auras to trigger heroic, plus lifelink on multiple cards, an evasive bestow dryad, and minotaurs with big asses to stop the ground beats. The Overlord puts games away, apart from that you do have to kind of rely on other colors to punch through damage.

RB Infect not so good in Modern due to the massive amount of cheap removal everyone is running (partly so they don't die to random cheesy creature combo decks). At the very least, you want to be running green for cards like Vines of Vastwood, Rancor, Ranger's Guile in addition to the plethora of cheap pump spells like Groundswell and Might of Old Krosa which breach the +4/+4 for 1 mana barrier. Typically decks are UG, which also lets you run things like Noble Hierarch and Pendelhaven while still being on colour for efficiency.

THE GOOD: UG is by far the strongest archetype, at least in sealed. 5 of the top 8 decks were UG or UGw. You have evasion and the fat fatties, and G enchantment hate is pretty good vs all those bestow creatures, and the 2UG flash flier is crazy good. If you have a Bow of Nylea, you're playing green. Holy shit does it do work. Daxlos is one of the bombiest bombs that ever bombed. You don't even need to bestow onto him - most of the creatures want to play are 3/2s or get bestowed onto, putting them out of range of blocking him. And the dude is pure card-advantage, and in Theros, card advantage feels even more powerful than M14. THE BAD: Common UG trap cards: the 3U flash that untaps a guy, and the 2G guy who can become unblockable. They seem decent in limited at first glance, but in play they are atrocious. Mr flash-untap can be good, but at least in UG you're almost never without a blocker anyways, and the manasinks in Theros are good enough that leaving 4 mana open for a combat trick really isn't often worth it. Not being flying really kills his usefulness. As for the 2G 3/2 unblockable, like I said - the other mana sinks in the set are just better. I mostly only saw UG or UGw, but I also played a UW and RBW, and watched some of the other matches. RB seems like the trap color combo to get into - you'd think the removal would lead to wins, but UG just plays more creatures than you can remove. I think GB might have enough removal, but I didn't see any so I'm not sure. UW can win some quick games, but if UG can stabilize, UW will fold pretty quick. Don't play UR. The synergy just isn't there. All in all, it seemed like a fun experience - better than M14 at least. Have fun!

That said, I still opened a Purphoros, Nylea and a Hammer of Purphoros. Was too tempted to run dual colours because of the two gods, so I did, and ended up getting screwed out of devotion more often than not. In hindsight I shouldve probably went mono red haha. Overally pretty fun still, but the set seems a bit slow. Plus fliers man. Fliers.
