Release events can be profitable. NOT prerelease, that stuff is a money sink.
This guy knows whats up, Daily Events, Release events, and I believe premier events with like the minimum amount of players are decent as well?

I'm gonna have a look at Esper teachings but it seems like there's no recent vods on youtube to see how the deck plays... From what you've said the deck you want to be playing is Dave Shield Gift Rites deck from GP Portland where he got 9th. The deck definitely isnt just gifts for rites+elesh. Sure that will get you free wins every now and then but the best part of the deck is that it can adapt to any situation. Gifts for loam+ravens crime + lands vs control is very powerful. Thanks for the info! Was able to find the list and even some playtime on camera after digging trough twitch a bit^^... Gonna load the list on cockatrice to do a few test matches and see how it goes.

How do you use Cockatrice since the legal drama?
I assume it's just a different, private server? Can someone teach me how to use Cockatrice again. ;_;

They are the most +EV events, but 8-man constructed queues are also fairly good. So are the gold queues that MtGO rolls around every now and then. 8-man draft queues are +EV if you're very good, and I'm not sure about sealed.
Starting with pauper is fine. It's actually harder to win in pauper than Standard, but you should make your money back on the deck if it's competitive.

So I had a dream about magic the gathering last night and I haven't played in about 6 years. It's made me want to play again but none of my friends play anymore so i wanted to give a digital version a try.
I was wondering though between the magic online and the DOTP which one was more worth getting into and which one was gonna cost me more?
It seems like DOTP is a bit more casual and cheaper but all the "locked packed DLC" is making me worried.
Magic online on the other hand seems more serious but the price tag seems high if i have to buy every card to have a viable deck.
Any quick recommendation would be helpful!

DotP is cheaper for practically anything you plan on doing, but it's very limited. If you just want to play Magic to get it out of your system and don't care about competitive formats, get DotP.
Magic Online costs a lot more, but you'll get more out of it, since your collection actually has value and you can win prizes. It's essentially the same as buying real cards. A pauper deck costs between $20-50, and a standard deck costs between $200-300 probably, although I'm sure there are some budget standard decks out there.

DotP is still a large-enough game to sink your teeth into without the DLCs. Last year after I played through the 2013 version, I had only unlocked, like, a deck and a half by the time I put it down, and there were plenty more I could have unlocked all the cards to. If anything, DotP is worth it for the well-made, mesmerizing puzzles.

I'm working through those puzzles now... just infuriates me when I finally get it and it was right in front of me the whole time XD

I'm so bored right now that I am back again. I'm gonna have to ask these questions again.
If I just start, what are some ways I can play without losing money? I think it was some daily events for Pauper that would be a good way to start? Would an investment of $50 be enough?
Anybody here mentor? I know a bit about the game, just dunno about the client and MODO in general.

Pauper would be a good investment; Yes, $50 would be enough. Feel free to send me a PM and I can help you out more. A lot of viewers of my stream and some members of my clan are very active in Pauper. I also play Pauper occasionally and can help you out.
Keep in mind that playing without losing money (in tournaments) is called "going infinite" and is very difficult. It relies largely on your skill and patience with variance (much like poker).

Just picked up the 9.99 stuff, have no idea what to do right now! Will probably be around tomorrow!

Tried tweaking my deck to be as anti-jund as possible for this weekend's minor SCG event. The meta has just become more and more Jund flooded over the past month, and it's been giving me a decently hard time. Need suggestions though for stuff I cant/dont think about!

Took the Pyromancers out for more spells. They're great in the deck, but get boarded out vs jund every time due to lolbonfire and the fact that I'd much rather disrupt the T2-6 plays than try to make a board presence of my own. I literally haven't lost to anything other than jund in the past 3 weeks, so the deck's fine there, but I'm afraid I might be overcompensating and opening holes to other strats.

Does turn/burn fused kill an indestructible creature?

Indestructible is a key word now thanks to M14 rules change and therefore Turn will cause the creature to lose Indestructibility. So yes it will assuming the creature is a valid target for the spell (aka no Shroud/Hexproof or Protection from Blue, etc.)
Note this wouldn't have been true prior to M14 because Indestructibility wasn't a key word and simply something true about the ability, but thanks to the rule change this has now changed.

In most cases, yes. It removes the indestructible on the turn, then kills it. With the new indestructible keyword rules now too, it even removes the indestructibility from the enchantment. If it has something on it like darksteel plate, however, where it mentions "permanent *IS* indestructible, it wont kill it. Also same with falkenrath aristocrat, if you sac the creature before turn is applied, it can't remove the ability because it's NOT an ability, aristo simply *IS* indestructible.
EDIT: Nevermind, all those have been errata'ed, and no longer give the permanent indestructibility, but just give it the keyword. So yeah, turn/burn will always pop something with indestructibility.
