Edit: Also, you might want to consider the implications of playing high-powered decks where your friends/people no longer want to play with you. There's fun as in, hey that was a cool play, and then there's fun as in, only for you and your friends probably want to slash your tires on their way home. Yeah, I totally agree with that, when playing with friends, it's good to have a deck that is on the same powerlevel as them. I always have a funny, goofy casual deck that I love playing when I feel I have to. I think my best memories with MTG, is me and a bunch of friend playing FFA with some low-tier decks. I love competitive decks, but there is just no fun to roll on friends who have casual budget decks

Lets say you augur on 2 and see counterspell, removal spell, land. What do you take when all you see is a Godless Shrine or a Stomping Ground? Its the same reason why you dont alchemy on 3 if you dont know. So I dont see the merit of Augur on 2 in the dark, especially if you have another 2 cmc spell in your hand. Edit: Need to hammer this point out some more. I don't mean don't cast Augur on 2, I mean you should give some consideration to whether you should play that Augur on 2. I see lots of players just slamming Augur on 2 like its the auto-play, then proceed to lose because they were stuck on 2 lands for a turn or 2. If you don't know what you might need, you might not want to go turn 2 Augur and just pass. Since the format has moved away from aggro decks (decks that do play a lot of <2 power creatures), I don't like Augur that much right now which is why you see my deck shedding both the 2nd Augur and the Dimir Charms (since Negate serves the role better of the Charm in the environment) altogether. Now if you play a lot and see a bunch of decks, you can make that call quicker because you identify cards that you need and cards that you don't that much earlier. If you don't the the decision point might come later. That's what I meant when I said something along the lines of not sure of Augur on 2. It's not an autoslam on 2 in (my) Esper as opposed to say UWR Flash.

I had always played online or at a casual store where no one did this, but at the more competitive store it seemed like common practice. I guess it makes it just slightly harder to visualize what was taken. When I draft, and I know many others that do this, they shuffle relevant cards to the front and then look at those, so shuffling usually mixes everything back in . Also it's required to shuffle up the packs at a certain level of play. You could probably send some pretty strong signals just by putting certain cards in front or back if you wanted too if your not required to shuffle.

Ascendant Evinkar/ Mikaeus/ Triskellion is a hysterical end game combo nobody ever seems to see coming when I play. Also Omniscience might be my favourite card ever haha

The competition is pretty weak, but they play all formats, and it's probably good for a beginner because you'll encounter a huge array of decks, from top tier to Makoto tier. Looked up Magic Workstation online, and I have to buy it just to fully make a deck? Are there any free options?

The only pain is keeping the database up to date with every new set, but it exists at a bunch of different locations like the mtgsalvation forums and http://mws.mtg-br.com.

Prior lists ran 2 Augurs because of what I was seeing. Like Augur is better now but in esper 2 land augur hands are so awkward to keep at times. I think 2 land hands are akward to keep in esper not 2 land augur hands in particular.

Like 2 land Augur in a hand of 6 makes me want to cut myself. In any case, Augurs are back up to 2, Resto to 2, spot removal and counterspells are down to make room for more ACharms and Think Twice. Meh, Esper is just so open to how you want to build it based on the meta. Ghost Council has been fantastic mainboard though, better than Jace in some matchups and just as good as Jace in others.
