I have been doing a couple of those sealed innistrad games so I can get some cards and have fun doing it (it's pretty dang pricey tho >.o). Anyone have advice on their favorite modes to play? I've never tried a draft game myself I'd recommend checking out the pauper format, especially if you are new to MTGO and interested in playing mostly for fun. Pauper is a format where any card (except cranial plating and frantic search) printed at common on MTGO is legal. Just a quick list of some of the reasons why I would recommend pauper: 1 - It's (relatively) cheap. You can buy a reasonable deck for ~10 tix. Some decks cost more, mostly if they require cards that were released in low quantaties online (like daze or invigorate until just recently). You could probably buy every pauper deck that made a top 8 of a dialy event in the last week for the price of an average standard or modern deck. 2 - Playing any format online will help you improve your game. It is a lot easier to understand the stack, triggers and options after playing online. 3 - You will make mistakes, misclicks, etc., while learning the software. Might as well learn while mistakes aren't too costly. 4 - It is an eternal format, your cards won't rotate. 5 - The format is less explored (beacause it doesn't have any major tournaments like GP's, PTQ's or PT's associated with it) so it is easier for the average player to brew. 6 - Agro, combo and control decks are all available. I'd recommend browsing the decks here http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/activity/884 (under the pauper section) and picking up something that looks interesting so that you can start learning the format and software.

I'm fine with it being a mythic, give me cards I need to buy at rare or uncommon please, I already got to pick up the mythic planeswalkers.

As for the mythic rare argument, mythics were originally planned to be the extremely flavorful and unique cards, not the super powerful cards. The last few sets they were printed in tended to completely obsolete other cards, and thats much worst than flavorful mythics. Would you rather have them print a baneslayer-esque card and force you to have a playset of $30+ mythics if you want to play competitive? Much better for everyone if core cards are printed as uncommon or rares.

also if you print all mythics that are worth something, it lowers the cost of all the mythics and lowers the variance of the set in general. trust me, you say you dont want the good cards to be mythic, but then you go out and buy a box and all the mythics you get are these shit ass unplayables. then when one guy opens a pack and gets a jace you will not be happy. nvm I really shouldnt come to this thread. i really hate talking about magic on the internet. every single one of you assumed when I said that beguiler is stupid at mythic, i meant that they should only print good things/staples at mythic. please show me where i said that.

See, heres the thing. Anyone whos smart about how they spend their money don't buy packs. They buy the individual cards. If the core cards that are being used are all mythic rare (remember valakut decks?) the deck would be upwards of $500. Now if they are just rares or uncommons, there are more in circulation and so prices drop dramatically.
