Only VIP codes and pre-order codes are guaranteed beta access, the other codes that most fansites give out (like the ones curse gave out 10k of etc.) are just keys for a "increased chance at getting in on beta events".

It's.. ok The game feels 100% generic in every way. The combat system is just copy and pasted from World of Warcraft. You have the 4 fantasy RPG archtype classes with multiple "sub classes" available which are really just reskinned talent trees. Everything I saw in the gameworld felt bland and soulless, the animations are terrible and really made me feel very disconnected from my character. It's a "good game" in the sense that everything is fluid and the combat works well, but it's impossible to deny that it is World of Warcraft with all the charm stripped down with Warhammer Online public quests shoved down your throat every 30 feet. I feel that the developers tried so hard to make World of Warcraft again that they forgot to actually come up with original ideas that would make someone play their game over World of Warcraft.

Well, there are (obviously) tons of people that love WoW, but also a lot of people that got bored with it. This is a game that feels a lot like wow/WAR, but it isnt the same. I played wow for many years and loved the responsiveness of the characters, ui, etc, and this does exactly the same. Atm, im liking it - only got to like lvl 5 or 6 on 2 chars, ive been sick so couldn't play that long. Will try to write something more when i have played more

The main issue is that everyone is complaining about how strong clerics are atm, and based on how Trion has been dealing with issues presented to them by the community, they will be nerfed soon. You guys are basically saying a game that has such a high amount of character customization is "general" because you are used to playing MMO's with more content than that of this beta. I don't see this game as something completely amazing but I definitly see it as a worthy game for me to play while I wait for Guild Wars 2. Thats my 2 cents.

A new MMO either needs game mechanics that set itself apart from the competition or content that vastly superior than the competition. From what I can tell, Rift has neither. I'm not saying that the game is bad, I just see no reason to play this over WoW. Although I'm sure will be a successful MMO regardless as there are plenty of disgruntled WOW players. :p
