In terms of taking the title of "the biggest flop in mmo history", there are quite a few MMO's out there that easily deserve it more than Warhammer, namely AOC.

They've already stated a couple of times they're breaking away from the "expansion" mold. Instead they will offer more in the way of single player content in their online shop. Nothing is certain yet though, as they love to say.

Can anyone re-assure me? Becuase as a student the lack of a monthly fee is very appealing, plus the development team being a lot of the old blizzard folks and world of war craft going down the pan from a hardcore gamers perspective anyways. Afaik it's possible to swap weapons in battle, therefore you're constantly swapping between the first 5 skills you get out of your weapons. Also I'm pretty sure that it's possible to dodge attacks, and perhaps you have to be able to aim attacks too? There will also be a lot of cross-class skill combinations, which will be interesting to see how it will turn out in both pvp and pve. It's hard to tell because of the lack of any dedicated healing/tanking classes (afaik) how pvp/pve will turn out, but I can see it working. Hopefully it doesn't turn out to be Build Wars ^.^. I don't think Build Wars is necessarily a bad thing, in today's world, gamers like choice, they like variety. Having every "xx" class use the same build is bland. Would you not like the freedom to customize your character to your own tastes and builds, rather than the "popular" consensus? Well obviously variety is good, but from what I heard modern GW1 turned into rock paper scissors based on build picking, although I highly doubt GW2 would ever turn out like that, just because of the variability added by weapon swapping, and lack of healers (in the sense of what monks were in GW1).

At this moment its safe to say that ArenaNet is definately adding a lot of new ideas to the table. Whether or not they work in unison for PvP, no one will really be able to tell until beta.

I didn't follow GW2 development that much, so i probably missed some big announcement: What did you mean with lack of healers? Did they remove/change monks a lot? I really liked the monks and the heal-system in GW1 and would really hate it if they'd change that into the horrible WoW-like healers. Healing in GW1 required a lot of skill and you could easily distinguish good monks from just average monks, especially in PvP.

There are no assigned healers or tanks in GW2 anymore. Every class can basically support, heal and deal damage. Every class has self-sustainability. The game and encounters are probably revolving around good movement, precise positioning and teamwork. So if you're looking to stray away from something WoW-like, I don't think you can go further away than with GW2. But that's a good thing, imo. Can't wait to play!

Not exactly, they said they are staying away from making standalone campaigns like they did with GW1 but instad just make lots of halfassed expansions like EotN.

Well I was hitting on the idea they're trying to avoid selling half a game at launch, only to have the other half released later as an expansion pack.

It's the mmo i spent the most time in after ragnarok ^^ Will certainly follow this guild closer to release. Currently live in Korea with an ISP that doesn't play nice with NA Bnet though so don't know how much I can participate in SC2 events TT

Im still not convinced about getting rid of the holy trinity, if it ain't broke, don't fix it! But they think it is broke. They don't want you sitting around looking for a particular profession in order to go play content. Well, really, they don't want to force you to sit around looking for a group at all. Making people largely self-sufficient but also complementary to each other is a necessary part of the sort of game they're building (with dynamically scaling dynamic events and no need to group in order to work together and receive rewards).
