Wasn't it like about a month ago that you guys decided you didn't want too many more new people? Has that decision changed? I'm just a little confused by the tone of that post, given the discussions happening not too long ago.
I know you're always fast to reply irninja, so I'm sure you'll help me clear my confusion. Thanks in advance.
Edit: since my post started a new page, I guess I should clarify that I am referencing the following when I say "the tone of that post":+ Show Spoiler +

For all of you guys who love discussing Guild Wars 2 in-depth, I'd like to invite you to our GW2 forum for teamliquid members to promote/discuss the game. The reason I bring this up now is to have you guys entered into a raffle we're holding for those who have quality posts and threads to create, much like you find all over TeamLiquid.net. (looking at pyrthas and others )
We're trying to establish the image TeamLiquid has for SC here, in the same light for GW2 there. You get the idea. We're redesigning the forums, coding new databases for future ideas, and want to start promoting now. All of our current members live and breathe Starcraft here in teamliquid, and then carry on a multitude of discussions on Guild Wars there.
Long story short. If you like these kinds of discussions/debates, we'd like to invite you over to join your other fellow TLers who have made their guild/home there, and others who simply enjoy the atmosphere Teamliquid continues to encourage here.

Just because we are putting a slow on recruiting to the guild doesn't mean we don't want to grow the community we have That is the purpose of the raffle, we are building our community base for the future.

Hope to see you there for Guild Wars 2 related content.
It was aimed to grow the community, more-so than the guild. We want TeamLiquid members who wish to have a place to talk about Guild Wars 2, to have a home too, and be able to talk among similar members with the same general background in starcraft. Unfortunately a single teamliquid forum (based here) would be a clusterfuck of threads, impossible to keep track of. We needed multiple facets of what an MMO contains, not even beginning with our guild organization forums.
But yea, the idea of the "invite/sweepstakes" was simply to offer something for the teamliquid community members that have supported us, for free, without strings. If it goes successfully, we'll try to do it weekly. Money isn't an issue with us, its just a way to say thanks for the support.
Guild Wars 2, and this thread, may only be chit-chat now, but when the game goes into beta, and live, this thread and the legacy forums will explode. We just want to extend a hand to everyone before that explosion so they can say "i was there when it all started". We will be known for having the "go-to" forums for higher end competitive discussion, much like you'd expect here at tl.net.
We've already been described by some in the GW2Guru community as founding the "elitist jerks" of GW2, being run by "the good sc2 players from teamliquid". And its funny, because while we have many masters level sc2 players, some of us just plain suck at sc2. <3 But that's why we love TeamLiquid.net right?.... and day9.
So that's the idea anyway. So far its coming along fine. The quality of posts and members joining far exceeds any other developing guild out there. Feel free to search for yourself. And that's not ego, that's pride. The hard part is keeping it that way, which is a job all on its own. I'm sure the many mods here understand that more than most.
We always welcome more community members. The best thing in my mind will be to eventually become the Team Liquid of GW2 where quality content is given out and suits the community's need for a competitive forum. While Guru might serve the equivalent to the Battle Net forums, supporting the less competitive community, we hope that Team Legacy will be the same as the Team Liquid forums is to starcraft.
This can only be done with a large community following outside of the guild.
Pyrthas, not sure if you addressed this before but have you thought about joining? You frequent the thread, and always have good insights and well-thought out arguments. If you have the right background, I'm sure someone like you would be greatly appreciated.
Also, I kinda headed the GvG initiative, and a lot of people showed interest, but not many showed up. If we could get a bunch of people who would actually show up, I'm down for it, but I'd rather not be the organizer again. We have a few top 100-200 players who are pretty rusty, but still better than most, especially considering how small the GvG community is these days.

What classes and builds do you play? We need some more for GvG's as well, if PvP is your thing.
I actually play most classes but Warrior is my thing, I also PvP'd a lot in gw1 too so i'd be down to gvg. PM
We can always use more people for GW1. We aren't that active in gvging right now but my name in GW1 is Hamer The Nail. Me and Disciple run the current GW1 guild that is interested in GvGing. We haven't had a chance to run with this new guild yet but we have been trying for a while. Currently I am sitting on a warrior but most builds have 2 so we can easily work something out if you are interested.

For all of the main dungeons yes. Within each "dungeon" there are different instances, so for example, the dungeon in those video is the City of Ascalon, and its showing the "catacombs" instance in the second video, which is a beginner instance. I might have the terminology wrong, but you get the idea.
Each dungeon will have multiple instances within it.
Dungeon looks pretty interesting. I hope there are good boss fights, thats what I'm worried about. I hope it requires rolling and dodging and stuff..and isnt just a mindless numbers and grindfest.

Well if you take "Shatterer" dragon, from early PAX coverage, in order to simply survive one attack, you had to roll/dodge out of the way, otherwise it one shot you. That's the only known instance of what your speaking of that I've seen so far.
Holy crap that music made me want to kill myself, I sincerely hope they will have more than 1 track rolling for each dungeon because that video hurt more than just my feelings.
I wouldn't worry about the music in GW2, the original game's soundtrack was created by Jeremy Soule and he is also working on the GW2 soundtrack. You can look him up on Youtube, he has a long long list of contributions to popular movies and video games.
How complex will the fighting in this be? I raided and pvp'd in wow from vanilla to just before wotlk came out and i cant really see how having such a limited amount of skills can create any sort of skill level, especially as the other people in this thread saying they took out some of the mechanincs from GW1 from what we understand, although i only played GW1 a bit. Can anyone re-assure me? Becuase as a student the lack of a monthly fee is very appealing, plus the development team being a lot of the old blizzard folks and world of war craft going down the pan from a hardcore gamers perspective anyways.

Afaik it's possible to swap weapons in battle, therefore you're constantly swapping between the first 5 skills you get out of your weapons. Also I'm pretty sure that it's possible to dodge attacks, and perhaps you have to be able to aim attacks too? There will also be a lot of cross-class skill combinations, which will be interesting to see how it will turn out in both pvp and pve. It's hard to tell because of the lack of any dedicated healing/tanking classes (afaik) how pvp/pve will turn out, but I can see it working. Hopefully it doesn't turn out to be Build Wars ^.^.

I don't think Build Wars is necessarily a bad thing, in today's world, gamers like choice, they like variety. Having every "xx" class use the same build is bland.
Would you not like the freedom to customize your character to your own tastes and builds, rather than the "popular" consensus?

Underwater combat looks cool tho.
LOL. You made my day, but that was simply placeholder music, but im sure you know that.
