It's absolutely amazing how many matches have just 1 side completely dominating! I mean like nearly 100% capped all the territory. The rankings next week are gonna fluctuate a fair bit I think.
The closest match I've seen was between us (Eredon Terrace) vs HoD vs JQ. Now we're seeded 4th and stomping 2 servers in the 2nd tier lol. This system seems broken and its a design issue I believe. Not sure how their gonna fix it. The server ranking is pretty bad. A lot of servers go through horrible cycles.
Server gets stomped by server with a lot of organized WvW guilds/Australians -> Server ranking system thinks that losing server is filled with baddies -> Matches server against less populated servers who always get stomped -> Server ranking system thinks that winning server is amazing at WvW -> Go back to step 1
I'm not bummed out by the lack of "endgame" (Which Anet promies to add anyway(link)). WvW is pretty much the perfect endgame for me. The way I see it, PvE is the WoW-equivalent of running dungeons and easy raids to get gear in preparation for hard raids, and WvW is the big raid that guilds work hard to progress through (AQ40, BT, SWP). They just need to get the rankings in order, even if it means returning back to 24-hour matches.

Are these WvW matches region specific? I mean, are the Eastern/Western Servers/European Servers competing against each other, or within their respective regions? It seems to me the different time zones account for more participation in WvW (and more points).

As far as I know, no. The only regional separation they have is NA and EU.

Does anyone have any recommended pvp weps or trait specs that have been working for them?
2h sword and staff works pretty well if you have a good trait spec and runes. There is a good mesmer guide here.

Ran AC explorable yesterday wasn't to bad. First run took about a hour and 15 minutes the second run took about 45 minutes. We ran ghost eater variant. It was a pug only annoying part was 2 level 80's talking about their gear in between engagements.
Hate that ghost with the pull though. I feel like for pve staff is a must for dungeons.

i'd probably enjoy pvp if i had a competitive team to play with but i don't see that happening
I know how you feel. Atm i'm just farming for a full exotic set and its taking forever!
It seems most ppl who took advantage of exploits (like in a small way) that weren't banned are massively ahead in gold. Anet keeps making these changes which lead to ppl making massive profits if they got in early enough before its changed. For example the Mystic Forge recipes to free up all the low tier supplies. Some ppl tripled their money on selling butter alone!!
Once i'm finally done with my full exotic set I'm gonna focus on WvW and hopefully that'll be before we face HoD again. I just feel like im so far behind a large portion of the playerbase who are already well on their way to crafting legendaries (which im not gonna bother with). And before anyone says that I should just take my time etc etc I wanna be geared and ready with surplus cash for the coming battles.

Hey guys!
I skimped a little bit through the thread and saw that they were some TL NA guilds, but I don't really know them though. I would like an invite please but I'm currently on Stormbluff Isle, i don't know if it will cause any problems.
Thank you ! Moka.9641

Good day to have a guild on your server who uses server transfers to scout, lol.

And thats against the rules how? Also idc because I doubt we're the only ones.

Wait... you're actually defending that? I mean, it's one thing to say it's possible someone does it, but our guild doesn't promote it, etc. I think it's pretty bad sportsmanship for lack of a better word. Just because other people do it doesn't make it right either.
And you're right its not "against the rules" so to speak, because it would be impossible to enforce. Just like it would be impossible to enforce online poker players colluding by talking over Skype about their hands - most poker players would accept that this form of collusion is unethical.

I haven't been interested in the Level 80 gearing portion. I just play WvW with my guild on my level 80 as needed, and get the random improvements from there. I'm not concerned with my gear for WvW, and for sPvP obviously my gear doesn't matter at all there. At the moment, I wouldn't find it rewarding to farm stuff strictly for PvE. WvW and sPvP is where its at, which to fully enjoy requires teamwork and communication. Some servers advertise their public Vent/TS/Mumble during WvW, so look out for that. Otherwise, there are always PvP guilds recruiting, so just tell one of them you're interested. It'll make it much easier to work as a team.

Meh I think it's underhanded sure but theres no way to stop it and like we both agree, people are gonna do it.
Why bother getting all uppity and offended by it when it does nothing at all but waste energy.
Unethical or not it's how wars are won and lost in real life too lol.

well, if you allready abuse transfers for a scout, why not go a step further and place as many people into their map as possible, who then all afk.
its abusing their generous transfer policy, i bet if a GM could prove such behaviour, he would ban the account.

The free transfers are gonna end, don't worry about it so much. I'm not in their guild and I don't do it myself just playing devils advocate I guess. Why would you compare 1 person spying to having 100 people afking on purpose in their server?
Admin can't ban them for spying, ridiculous to even suggest it.

People originally thought it's too harsh to ban people for making chocolate peppers, or whatever that one was. Having someone transfer server just to provide locations of the army in WvW is (in my opinion) much worse than that. The server's already clearly ahead, spying is just a dick move.

Could you explain the pepper thing? I have no clue what that was about. Did arenanet ban people for cooking an item or what...

I didn't pay too much attention, but you could buy mats for karma or something, and sell the produced item for a big profit. A few people got banned iirc. There was also the karma weapons which were massively underpriced that people were abusing, a lot of those people got banned. Basically, ANet aren't fucking around when it comes to people making the game less playable/enjoyable for others.
