What i don't understand is if they don't want us farming dungeons what else is there too do, i have map completed already and i don't care for wvw, dungeons ate the only non awful pve.sadly this game h has made me want to play wow again to get my pve fix.

They did not say there will be "absolutely no farming" in the game, they said you don't have to farm to stay competitive with other players because the gears at max level have relatively similar stat and no big jump up like in the tier system. Farming is there but mostly for better looking armors, like in GW1. The best armor in GW1 were also extremely hard to get and require a lot of farming.

Just have ran AC so far and it took 45 minutes for second run 60 tokens for 2 runs isnt bad. Not sure what the reward has changed to though. Anyone know how the system is now I ran these on sunday tried a PUG yesterday but they where idiots so I had to leave cause it would have took us about 3 hours for Ghost Eater which is to long.

Reading through some forums it looks like they basically added a 15 minute timer on the last door so it doesnt open until 15 minute mark. According to the dev tracker.

If you speed clear dungeons at a rate of more than 2/ hour, and continue to do that for some time your rewards will slowly begin to degrade.

2 an hour is pretty fast so you can just run another dungeon and go back to that same dungeon after or run another path and your rewards are untouched. Apparently a path in CoF could be run in 15 minutes.

Just asking around cause I really want the CoF set and Arbor set looks the best to me. I've only ran CM and AC so far.

Hey all, it is my fault the updates to those 3 dungeon chains did not get into to the notes. There is a lot going on right now and as we establish our patch process sometimes things will slip through the cracks. I wanted to shed some light on the dungeon speed clear stuff as well. You should not see any diminished returns unless you.
1) Run the same exact chain over twice in a row
2) Complete multiple dungeons in 30 minutes or less each.
We also reduced the rewards of completing story mode, once you have already completed it, because the rewards for story mode were never intended to be a high as they were.
At this time, dungeons should one of the most efficient ways to level and get gold, and it is not our intention to make them feel like a grind. This is a very large game, and we have a lot of people playing it in many different ways. Right now we are working hard to make sure there are not any ways for players to circumvent the normal rewards in the game and then we will be able to look at the actual rewards and make sure they require a reasonable amount of investment.
Dungeons are meant to be difficult and we will continue to update them to try and reach a point where the time invested to XP/Gold/Tokens is similar for each dungeon. Some right now are just too easy to complete while others may be too hard. Moving forward we will try and post more clear change notes for those dungeons we do fix.

Something a lot of people seem to not understand.

Dungeon rewards have ONLY been nerfed in terms of gold and experience. They have not touched token rewards in the slightest. Grinding dungeons for the armor/weapons/gifts will take the SAME exact time as before. ANet intended dungeon grinding to be for the tokens, NOT for the easy gold/exp, which is the only thing they hit.

Chests grant at least 2 blues, which for level 80s will sell for 80~99 copper each. Sometimes you'll get greens, which go for 1.2s+ easily. Sometimes you'll get really lucky and get rares or even exotics (very unlikely but it can happen). Same deal for mobs. Which means, with 3 chests, you're guaranteed ~5 silver if you're the unluckiest bastard alive with no MF. Then you have to add the completion reward, which will still give a decent chunk of silver even after the nerf. Repairing for level 80 exotic gear costs slightly over 1.5s each piece. So unless you're getting defeated 7+ times per run, you will at the very least break even. If you're getting defeated 7+ times per run you're probably doing it wrong and should rethink your strategy.

If you're trying to make money, don't grind. That's inefficient. The absolute fastest way to make money is to play the Trading Post.

Some WvW matches are absolutely borked right now due to free server transfers. Guilds can transfer to "shitty" worlds to stomp bads. They can also get spies and such to counter enemy zergs These problems should go away pretty quickly once you can no longer transfer worlds for free. What I don't understand was why Anet released world rankings before locking down world transfers.

If you bought Guild Wars for PvE you made a mistake. It doesn't mean there isn't PvE but the game was always about PvP and WvW.

I wonder if it would be a good idea to give explorable dungeon bosses loot tables like in WoW. I think a lot of players would find that more exciting and addicting. It's kinda like the difference between the casual gambler and the professional gambler (when they're not playing in tournaments). The casual gambler relies on chance per game during their weekend at Vegas, and the possibility of hitting it big in one go is very exciting to a lot of people. On the other hand, the professional gambler grinds over weeks, simply playing it safe, knowing that he'll eventually reach his goal.

Personally, I'd like to see a bit of both. Keep the token system for the badass looking exotics and have the last boss of an explorable dungeon drop a guaranteed random generic looking exotic which binds on pickup (to prevent inflation).

Yeah GW1 was more polished than GW2 on the PvP side at release. GW2's PvE side is massive compared to GW1's PvE however. Luckily the game is B2P so you can just pick the game back up later when they have these systems in place. I believe they were testing the ladder/MMR system in beta at one point so there has been at least some work done on it. Playing the game very casually at the moment. Hopefully HotS comes out sometime this year.

So it sounds like all is fine then really. If your trying to get your gear you can still get your gear.

rofl so as I said earlier my bro's account got hacked. Got it back a day or so later and they did absolutely nothing. The took no gear (he is only level 14), none of the money, didn't delete anything. Just lol they hacked it changed everything and did nothing. Kinda funny :D

How should i get my easily gathered max stat exotics then? Before you tell me endgame gear shouldn't be easily achieved it's Anet's supposed philosophy not mine.
“Fun impacts loot collection. The rarest items in the game are not more powerful than other items, so you don’t need them to be the best. The rarest items have unique looks to help your character feel that sense of accomplishment, but it’s not required to play the game. We don’t need to make mandatory gear treadmills, we make all of it optional, so those who find it fun to chase this prestigious gear can do so, but those who don’t are just as powerful and get to have fun too.”

Karma vendors? Oh wait thats even worse! Making it so i have to farm hundreds of DE events sounds much better.
Cultural armour? hahahahahhahaha...
WvW gear? Equally bad, or worse.
Trading post gear? Can be quite bad depending on what stats you want, if like me you need an armour set with 3stats that aren't craftable you are looking at in excess of 7g per piece (up to 12+ for some pieces like khilbrons).
Basically crafting provides the only reasonably cheap way to outfit yourself, and is useless to anyone who doesn't want the stock standard stat distribution. (Still it will run you up about 12g+ on the TP)

So please enlighten me as to how i get to the base level of competitiveness in PvE / WvW on my necro, which requires a stat distribution of Condition Damage / Toughness / Precision.

P.S. those are the stats required for the only really viable build for my class, unless i want to deal with retarded minion AI that is useless in WvW and dungeons due to the use of AoE and their terrible random agro mechanics, or Power which when compared to other classes direct damage is extremely lackluster.

People originally thought it's too harsh to ban people for making chocolate peppers, or whatever that one was. Having someone transfer server just to provide locations of the army in WvW is (in my opinion) much worse than that. The server's already clearly ahead, spying is just a dick move.

I didn't pay too much attention, but you could buy mats for karma or something, and sell the produced item for a big profit. A few people got banned iirc. There was also the karma weapons which were massively underpriced that people were abusing, a lot of those people got banned. Basically, ANet aren't fucking around when it comes to people making the game less playable/enjoyable for others.


Karma weapon drama I knew about and fully support ANet.

You're comparing exploiting a known bug/glitch with revealing information about the enemy.

I'd say the only reason ANet could ban someone for spying would be that they are taking away a spot for someone else to contribute in WvW. But if that person who is spying is also actively helping w/e realm they are on then idk if they could do anything about it.

So ya. Just saying ANet can't ban him atm for anything he's doing because the stuff that may be against the ToS he's not doing it in the game where they can record/track it (on skype/TS, voip programs etc)

Sure he may be a jackass but all this is gonna stop when free transfers end, unless he wants to pay constantly just to spy on enemy teams.

Atm just go with the flow and let ANet know they messed up with WvW atm and wait for them to fix it.

On a more less serious note, anyone on a server where Malchor's Leap Skill point is actually working? The one in front of Bayt Fallahin interest point. It's the last thing I need for world completion and it's bugged on Northern shiverpeaks T_T;

The free transfers are gonna end, don't worry about it so much. I'm not in their guild and I don't do it myself just playing devils advocate I guess. Why would you compare 1 person spying to having 100 people afking on purpose in their server?

Admin can't ban them for spying, ridiculous to even suggest it.


People originally thought it's too harsh to ban people for making chocolate peppers, or whatever that one was. Having someone transfer server just to provide locations of the army in WvW is (in my opinion) much worse than that. The server's already clearly ahead, spying is just a dick move.

I didn't pay too much attention, but you could buy mats for karma or something, and sell the produced item for a big profit. A few people got banned iirc. There was also the karma weapons which were massively underpriced that people were abusing, a lot of those people got banned. Basically, ANet aren't fucking around when it comes to people making the game less playable/enjoyable for others.


Karma weapon drama I knew about and fully support ANet.

You're comparing exploiting a known bug/glitch with revealing information about the enemy.

I'd say the only reason ANet could ban someone for spying would be that they are taking away a spot for someone else to contribute in WvW. But if that person who is spying is also actively helping w/e realm they are on then idk if they could do anything about it.

You're post added nothing to our discussion as we were alrdy aware of him being on the enemy team.

So ya. Just saying ANet can't ban him atm for anything he's doing because the stuff that may be against the ToS he's not doing it in the game where they can record/track it (on skype/TS, voip programs etc)

Sure he may be a jackass but all this is gonna stop when free transfers end, unless he wants to pay constantly just to spy on enemy teams.

Atm just go with the flow and let ANet know they messed up with WvW atm and wait for them to fix it.


The guy in that guild [RUIN] 'Archaos' is now trying to lead the other server into wrong places. ( http://i.minus.com/ioVP6HsVQkNqL.jpg ) as well as(allegedly) other members of the guild shitting up Lion's Arch chat of other servers claiming big guilds were leaving to try and get others to leave. They're just general dickheads. Free transfers need to end very soon. (No point to this, just pointing out the tactics they're using)

It wouldn't surprise me if these sort of guilds do end up buying secondary accounts to spy on other servers.

On another note, does anyone have any idea if the 'guesting' system is still a feature? The one where you can join other servers for everything except WvW?
