I just started playing gw2 and Im really liking it so far! Theres a couple things Ive been wondering about, and I figured you guys probably knew the answers (since the tl community is awesome).
First; is there some way to see the health (in numbers) on the target health bar? And second; is there some way to see the in-game latency?

they can patch it as long as they want their core mechanics blow.
for starters is too noobfriendly with a steep learning curve , there isnt actually much to learn since only hting matters atm is , damage everything else are pointless.
Defensive cooldowns - abilities - heals - cc all are a joke dumb down for the average noob.
You cant have the simpliest of tactics - apart some ae root spam whirlind or other gimmics - due to the lack off proper crowd control and immune timers.
you cant poke - push you cant do shit rly cause tanks die like instantly and there no solid healers to back them up.
As for wvsw it feels and is pointless since the benefits are minimal to nothing and in now way promotes as open world pvp - Daoc is still king after 12+ years for that.
too bad the only decent mmorpg pvp will be pandaria which it has solid mechanics - like vanilla wow - but with the same ol same bs bgs and arerna .
If , however you are a noob happy spammer who likes zerg its the game for you .

Maybe it's just because my friends always go to Eternal Battleground (are the others even easier), but I can't even make any ground or progress. You can take a camp but then the other realms send everything ever at you. I played for an hour and there was no change in layout by the time I got bored and left.
It seems to be based around mass tactics which are never going to happen in this sort of setting. We've just had our servers swapped around after getting stuck versus a High pop server (I'm on low) for the last week but we're still just in huge fights. Everyone I fight seems to be able to escape and nobody has any focus whatsoever. When you're 50 people you should just be able to kill a guy instantly but it never happens.
It's also so hard for me to formulate any kind of build for WvWvW. I want conditions/toughness for enemies, AoE for big enemies and single target damage for objectives. I cannot have all of that.
Edit: I'm pretty sure WvWvW is a level 80 place to be. I can't happily buy blueprints knowing that they're a significant amount of my total gold.
WvWvW depends a lot on informing everyone of what is happening.
If you just go somewhere and expect others to magically be there, it won't work. However, if you say something like "Hey, there is an undefended supply camp at X, lets take it", some players will go there and try to capture it with you. If you say "There is a group X of enemies near Y moving towards Z" then your allies will go to Z and defend it.
I luckily had experience from LotRO Monsterbattles which is very similar, so i have some experience with telling people what they need and want to know.
You won't ever get everyone to go somewhere but if you give everyone some information, some of them will react to it and others will follow.
However, it can get really annoying if your server is far weaker than the other 2.
i've been on stormbluff isles the entire time, and rolling wth 2-4 other players in a sort of squad/party in WvWvW has been the most fun aspect of the game for me so far. we just call out targets who are seemingly out of position and rush them down,or set up a condition trap.
get a commander buff, and people zerg on with you. the normals here on stormbluff pretty much know when it's a good time to set up a real siege or pull away from the enemy zerg.
as long as you have a group of people to play it with, it seems pretty fun to me

You sound disappointed.
Is this normal logic if alot of people like a game and then someone doesnt like it there has to be something wrong with everyone that likes it?
People that like GW2 = noob happy spammers? Ok o.O lol
WvW has depth just people dont know how to play it yet at least on Ehmry Bay though it is getting better. People aren't capturing supply routes, getting siege weapons, cutting off reinforcements, placing defenses at the proper point. I like WvW alot at first I thought it was just Zerg which it kind of is but siege weapons allow you to defend if your outnumbered. Its soo cool when you look like your going to lose a Castle or keep and reinforcements arrive.
Things like back passage ways to different objectives. Taking the water route to the underground entrance to Dark Havens garrison was good.

Noob friendly but with a steep learning curve? What's wrong with that? That translates into "Easy to learn, hard to master." And I fail to see the problem there. A skilled player will take out someone who just spams abilities on cooldown, but at the same time if you're just a casual noob you can spam your abilities on cooldown and at least make a dent and not be a complete bane to your team. Again, I fail to see the problem here. No need for the elitist attitude.
I hate to sound aggressive here, but if you think only damage abilities matter and all the support or defensive ccs are useless noob fodder, then well, you're probably the one who's the noob. Again, you can spam these abilities and get some use out of them, but timing is key. Using defensive cds when your opponent buffs up. Saving condition clears for when you get hit with a Signet of Spite. In group battles especially, what boons and conditions are used, and against who, makes a huge difference. And don't even get me started on combo abilities, which everyone seems to ignore.
And I think people have a warped definition of crowd control. GW2 has lots of snares and debilitating debuffs that will turn the tide of a fight. Let me say right here that I don't know who at Blizzard thinks its fun to be constantly out of control of your character, but it fucking isn't. I played all healers in WoW, and getting CC trained wasn't at all enjoyable.
Not to mention the standardized gear removes the whole gear!=skill crap you put up with in WoW.
GW2 PvP isn't bad because it doesn't have 10 second CCs and healers that take 20 minutes to kill. It might be bad for a different reason, but it sure as hell ain't that. It's just different. The intricacies of the combat revolve around different things now. Adapt and learn to min max your use of conditions and support abilities (and *gasp* coordinate with your team and set up combos and such) or don't, and go back to WoW. And enjoy your....Resilience? And...PvP Power? Hmm...
As for WvWvW, I'll agree with you that I wish there was a more "traditional" world PvP (I do miss pre-BG WoW) but WvWvW is still fun as all hell. And yeah the benefits are small, but thats not the primary reason for doing it. You should play games because you enjoy them. My favorite thing about GW2, regardless of whether or not it's gameplay pans out in the long run, is the removal of the gear treadmill. Playing the game and enjoying it is it's own reward. If you don't have fun playing the game, stop. You're not paying a monthly fee or anything. And if you change your mind and come back later, hey, you won't be like a cave man going up against a 21st century military.

Hey guys, curious on your opinions of what the best class for pvp as an Australian (playing with ~250 latency) would be, looking to play either thief or elementalist but shifting towards elementalist thinking it might be easier to play ranged with latency.
Also does anybody know a good place where I can buy a key online? The official website is out of stock to ease server load but they said you can still buy from other retailers. I thought I had found a good one to buy but my friend told me it was actually a european key.

I was reading this, but i realised it was probably a load of bull when he came out with his Daoc comment, he doesnt seem like the sort of person to be old enough for Daoc, hell, even im not.

Lunia actually still has the best MMORPG PvP
Also I think you're overreacting, the game's only been out for a short time after all, and I'm sure it'll be easy to stand out if you're good enough. I dislike the delay on just about every skill though, prefer the way Lunia does things (Again huehue)

That server sounds familiar... aren't you guys fighting against Blackgate in WvWvW?
I'm on Blackgate and your server founds familiar
Yes we've been stomping hardcore every server we're faced against, doubling and tripling the other 2 servers scores, combined.
Now this WvWvW is the most balanced we've ever had, mostly because its a 1v2 with you guys just ganging up on our stuff and not really attacking each other lol.

PvP mechanics don't need to be amazingly complex for a fun pvp experience, look at League of Legends, it's essentially a childs game but when you put teamwork in the equation it becomes a very skillfull game.
Love the music : ) thought I would ask your opinion, do you think an elementalist would be viable in pvp with high australian latency? trying to figure out what class I should play that suits having a bit of lag in pvp
Anyone know how to fix "error=7:11:3:189:101"? I tried everything the GW2 support recommended and it is still happening. I get 150 fps in-game and my internet runs perfectly fine in every other game except GW2...
